"Gamers lined up to get their hands on the device on Saturday morning but quickly complained of touch screen problems and system freezes. Sony immediately issued a software update, however, apparently having anticipated the glitches.
The mostly smooth launch capped a bad year for Sony, which has been hit by the Japanese tsunami and a crippling hacking attack on the PlayStation Network. The firm has predicted an annual loss of more than $1bn. "

I like handhelds because you dont have to set anything up,the only downside to them compared to consoles imo is the length of the games are significantly shorter.

This.

Handheld's probably won't be a thing for much longer after the 3DS and Vita. I'd imagine most gamers who would have bought a handheld get what they want gaming wise on their phones nowadays. And who wants to pay £200 to carry yet another device around, or as Stu says, play a downgraded port of something you could be playing on a much bigger screen.

3DS >

Vita doesn't interest me. I only but Nintendo handhelds cos I'm a sucker for a good Nintendo game. :p

My PSP is crap anyway, the UMD thing broke so all I can play is my PS1 classics.

If people stopped caring about graphics, games would be a lot longer. (Not saying you're a graphics-*****, though.)

I agree with you,the graphics are so good now that they dont even feel like games anymore which is sad.

Like, all the time, effort and space could be put to better use like the levels, gameplay and story.

I agree,in paticular I think that the gameplay and levels have to be spot on otherwise its a waste of time getting into the story imo.

The thing is a marvellous piece of technology but I don't really need one. I have an iPad so I can get tonnes of awesome games on there for a fraction of what one Vita game would cost i.e, GTA III.
