The series kicks off in Majorca with the gang on a group holiday (Grace and Rich's honeymoon?)

We're introdouced to a new character, american exchange student Sam.

This series will focus on the relationship between Mini and Franky.

Here is the first trailer, there's a car crash in the first episode and one character will die!

I'm thinking Grace dies because of the film footage in the trailer at 0.17.

Probably Grace or Rich though as most of the series is said to be focusing on Mini and Franky's relationship.

Yeah I'm shocked they've decided to stick with team suckballs.

Skins is the exercise in self parody it was always destined to be now anyway. And I get the feeling the average age of the viewer is just dropping and dropping in accordance. When it first started it's biggest demographic seemed to be the booze sinking 18-22 year old students the show actually portrayed. Now most people I see watching are 15-17 year olds who seek but don't actually have that sort of life.

I'm addicted to television of course so I'll watch it anyway then complain about it.

Gimme some skin. Series 3 is the best of the bunch. Series 4 is decent too but it always tends to vanish up it's own arsehole and become too melodramatic on the second run of any given generation.

Episode 2 'RICH' MASSIVE SPOILERS-

Professor David Blood has banned Rich from visiting Grace in hospital and it's killing him. Alo tries to keep Rich out of trouble with band practice, but Rich is committed to his love. He stands outside the hospital, waiting. Then one day his phone rings - it's Grace. She's woken up and needs to see him.



Rich finds a way past security and breaks into Grace's room. The lovers are reunited, but they have a problem - Blood is moving Grace to another hospital in Zurich. Grace doesn't want to be separated from Rich ever again. Rich promises he won't let that happen. Then Blood discovers Rich and has him thrown out.



The next day, Rich goes to Grace's house to appeal to Professor Blood. When he gets there, he discovers that the Bloods have already gone. Rich moves into the house, sleeping in Grace's bed and sifting through old home movies of her growing up.



Days later, Alo tracks Rich down and pledges to help his best mate. But Alo has other things on his mind. Soon, cracks begin to develop in the boys' friendship and it falls to Liv to bring the fractured group together and bring Grace back where she belongs.

I watched the first ep earlier on 4OD and I thought it was alright. Big improvement on last year's series opener but I still can't warm to this cast. The whole episode should have taken place in Morocco IMO, I didn't like how it cut back to the college at the end. Also the crash was very unrealistic and them two drug dealer guys were horrid. Are they new cast members?

I have to say, whilst I didn't particularly enjoy series five that much, the opening episode to this series was pretty good, and if you ask me tonight's episode was one of the best written episodes of Skins in many years. A return to the trippy, nonsensical, intriguing days of this show at last.

It's a shame Grace died, I think most people saw it coming though :(

It's just hard to understand because Blood said he 'thought he was talking to her' too, so it's the part where seemingly Rich dreamt that he was talking to Blood and Grace, and Blood dreamt he was talking to Rich and Grace that I can't understand, if that makes sense. Like how two people can both have the same essentially simultaneous dream about each other :suspect:

Yeah, that was when I was thinking 'this is a mind****', I started to wonder whether she was actually there or not, but then it seemed like she was. The cut to the ad break left me wondering though, and then when he woke up I sort of concluded that it can't have been real.

When Rich saw that black car outside though did anyone else think it was a funeral car? That's the first thing I thought and was like 'oh, she's dead'.

The new boy Alex is gay and apparently theres a love interest with Nick? Mini reveals her true feelings, she actually likes Frankie. Grace's funeral is not this week but the week after (ep 4). In episode 3 a secret is revealed at Grace's memorial in college.

I'm loving this series so far, the levels of improvement from last year's abomination are staggering really. It's got so much depth this time.

Love Alex...think he's one of the best Skins characters in a while. I totally called the gay thing though, it became apparent when he winked at that guy in the underground bunker place where they were gambling.

Have to say I was a bit disappointed...would've liked him and Liv to get together, but then again, perhaps that'd be a bit predictable. At least this is somewhat...different. It's also been pretty quiet without the rest of the gang (Rich, Matty and obviously Grace)...they seem like a really small unit, seems pretty weird.

I also don't understand the negative reaction it's receiving from people I know and others on Twitter...it's really not that bad. A massive improvement on last year. I think people may still be living in the past. I mean, I loved the older series more...but this one is definitely worth watching so far. I read one comment earlier that said something along the lines of 'it's too depressing' or something. Well, pretty much every second series of every generation explored the characters in more depth, and in turn ended up being quite 'depressing'. But I don't get how that's such a bad thing...depth is good, it's interesting.

I liked that it was such a small unit in this ep. Surprisingly worked really well. Is Matty actually returning anytime soon? Theres no ep dedicated for him... unless he's part of Nick's the following week.

I was sort of disappointed too. him and Liv woulda been cool although rushed so maybe theres more to offer this way. Apparently him and Nick :shocked: get it on.

I liked the last episode. Yes, it was pretty violent but the acting was brilliant. That Luke character was a right creep but the actor did a great job of portaying him. Frankie is so much better this series too, I really didn't warm to her last series. Didn't see the Nick/Frankie thing coming either, very random.

This series is so much better than the last, I totally got all the criticism it got last series but I don't get the complaining for this series. I've enjoyed every episode so far.

People have different tastes and are allowed to enjoy the programme, doesn't mean it's rubbish. I know it's not like student life, I enjoy it for what it is. It does attempt to identify with modern day issues a lot of the time, but of course it's heightened for dramatic purposes.

Why? It doesn't get the huge ratings it used to on the overnights but over 1m watched the first episode of this season with 4OD combined. I'm assuming a lot of people use timeshift too and watch the episodes at a time which suits them. It's still a popular show for E4.

Because I seem to be one of the only ones that is enjoying this series out of the people I know, the rest have either given up watching or just slag it off, or both. From what I've glanced at in the DS thread (I don't read it properly because there's spoilers in there) they seem to think the same and that it'll finish after this series as well. I don't know, I just can't see them casting another generation, I think they think it's run its course, as do some other people.

I hope I'm wrong, but I really can't see another series being commissioned.

last episode was a little odd... I think next week looks good though :D

I didn't like them jumping around at the end. it was just weird.

I do think they did well with the whole delaying going to the doctor thing... until there was nothing there.
But I think they did her depression justice. Liv just needed someone like that older woman to understand how she felt

Surprisingly really enjoyed Liv's episode, and I'm not even that much of a fan of hers. The actress did a really good job at portraying her I thought, and I'm glad that now the ongoing storylines are starting to progress towards a conclusion, i.e. Matty finally returning.

I've also liked this year how all the stories have stemmed from that original crash in the first episode, it's been a good platform. I know I keep saying it but I've loved this year, it's a shame it's ending :(

This gen has been really weird I have to say.

I loved Franky both series. A little irrating this series at times as been made a bit too self-indulgent, but Dakota is a really great actress. Ive enjoyed watching her loads.

Both Matty and Alo were great in S5 but in S6 became so boring and predictable and its such a shame. Were 2 of my favourites of last year with Franky and of course Grace, which they go and kill off and ruin also. That said it has been an interesting watch to an extent... although a little too repetative and depressing from ep to ep.

On the contray Liv and Mini have done U-turns this series. Mini annoyed the **** out of me last year but has been a really well-developed character with a decent background and has portrayed a whole range of ups and downs. The baby storyline involving Alo and Franky was unexpected but it really has worked. Liv on the other hand I didnt mind but just felt like an extra last year - now I believe shes been criminally under-used. Laya is a top actress! I just love her personality and the relationships between Mini, Franky and Alex.

Going on to Alex... has been utterly pointless unfortunately. However much I enjoyed his ep - again I think it was more down to Liv mind. And Nick and Rich have been sorta irrelevant both series tbh, just safe characters.

So yeah. Franky has remained consistantly good, Nick and Rich consistanly irrelevant but its been a mess with the others from S5 to S6 (bar Alex) :laugh:

Such a perfect ending to a brilliant series/generation.

The scene with Franky and her mom at the end literally made me cry, and I never cry.

I would honestly say it was the best finale ever. Beautifully written and executed and there were no stupid loose ends like finales in the past.

I would have bet that the last scene would be Aloe and Mini calling the baby Grace or something, I really didn't get why we needed Rich to have the final scene. Him smiling when Mini was giving birth was enough to know that he will get closure

Very strong last episode. I too shed a tear at the scene iRyan mentioned. I'm glad it ended on a happy note, and with no cliffhanger, although am I the only one that's thinking the last scene with Rich at the end where he says 'goodbye' was filmed recently? It's just that they must've known whilst filming last year that it'd be the last series if they were going to have that as the ending (as no other generation has ended like that), so I have a theory that perhaps it was shot after the news that it had been axed. Not only that, but Will (who plays Alo) mentioned on the Skins Live thing last night that their baby was going to be called Grace, and I think that a scene had been shot for it. So maybe that would have been the ending, but it was cut in order for Rich's piece to camera?

This has honestly been an amazing series and I'm sad it's coming to an end, and even sadder that so many people seemed to give up on it before it had even got going, even after series five. It's been such an improvement and really well written from start to finish. I think it's my second favourite series after S3.

Eh, I disagree, because personally I thought Generation 3 was fantastic and possibly my favorite - but other people didn't give it a chance because it was ALL new characters. Like you said, I guess people didn't like the discontinuity, because at least with Series 3 there was still Effy and Pandora who were in the first two.

It would've been a good idea for them to follow either Generation 1 or Generation 2 to university, but at the same time I wouldn't change anything because like I said I loved Generation 3.

I too wish they'd kept a character on from the second generation to front the next, I was expecting them to originally and it was a big risk they took not to, which it seems ultimately didn't pay off, which is sad really. I personally think James Fitch (the twins brother in S3/4) would've been perfect, but I don't think his character was old enough which is a massive shame.

It's had a good run though, I just hope they get as many characters from each generation as possible back for the final series next year. Quite excited to hear all the rumours this summer when filming commences.

I hope they mainly focus on Tony, Cassie, Effy, Cook, Franky, and Mini because those are the characters I think that had the biggest impact and storylines. But more importantly I hope they all agree to come back. If Hannah or Kaya didn't agree to do it, I'd be DEVASTATED.
