I just hate everything.
Everyday life is just depressing and I honestly just want to move away from all the past memories I have, I have no money to move away and everything's just ****. I want to be happy again like I used to be a few years back but I just feel trapped.

There is nothing worse than feeling trapped, it just sends you into a state of frustration, you start to lose hope in the world and give up on everything. I know it sounds a bit generic, but you have to focus on the few things in life that keep you going and then work on the many obstacles that are trapping you. Happiness will come again, you just have to go through a bit of crap to make you more appreciative of it when it does arrive. :)

Hi
I dont think you are depressed. I think youre attaching the word to your state of life feeling lacklustre. You only really realise you were depressed when you come out of the spell. I have only been there twice, very short periods though, around 4 weeks and 2-3 weeks. You feel very hopeless, you do not really want to talk about anything revolving around it and feel lonely and that you cant move on with your life unless big changes happen.
Either way focusing on the GOOD points in life get you through depression or this feeling of lacklustre - be it your family (or member of), a friend or friends, work or at least getting paid for doing something useful for people, education, the excitement of your pet when they see you in the morning. People do have bad points, some worse than others but after realising yeah life isnt THAT bad and you DO HAVE good things, you aim to turn these not so great things around. Sometimes it does help to move away but as you said, its not always possible. Take steps.
Now and then I do feel trapped, frustrated with life, disappointed etc. But right now life is pretty damn good... could be better... could be worse.
I suggest making a list of 20 targets you want to achieve this year and aim to fulfil them, post in this thread (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170042&highlight=).
Maybe even bookmark your post so when you do feel stuck, you can easily remember what YOU WANT to do.
Good luck buddy!

Go see a doctor, get some fresh air, eat well, stop drinking alcohol (if that doesnt depress you nothing will), take some exercise.

Thank the Goddess someone is capable of giving out some sound advice to someone who obviously just wants to reach out
It doesn't help anyone who is feeling down to simply say "pull yourself together"
Depression is no joke - lets hope those who treat it so lightly don't fall foul of it themselves :nono:
Unfortunately, nobody here is qualified to help you. ( only advise) Your doctor is though . Best wishes

Whenever I'm depressed I try and get out and do something, normally jogging or some sort of exercise in my case. Exercise always does the trick for me and clicks me out of that state of mind. It seems to me that a big problem with depression is it makes us a bit apathetic and it makes us not want to do anything about it, like a vicious circle.
I sort of agree with what you said liv, I'm not sure how much 'pull yourself together' helps, but it depends on the person and the timing. I've been through phases in my life where I need to be gently pursuaded and others phases where I needed a good firm slap round the face

The reason I got into poetry was because I was very depressed when I was younger. I used to be quite overweight and my family life is probably one of the worst going and one day my teacher could see I was unhappy and said that if I couldn't face talking to anyone about it that writing it down through words may help me, even if I kept the words to myself. We happened to be doing Wilfred Owen at the time so I began writing poetry. It helps me a lot, even if it doesn't solve much, it helps me to gain some kind of release and perspective, and also led me to pursue it as a living along with performance.
I think everyone needs some form of release from monotony and feeling down, be it walking, writing, sports, music or travelling.

 Tom, I hope you feel somewhat better and at least a little more positive after reading this thread and seeing you are not alone in feeling this way. I have suffered from depression, anxiety and panic attacks throughout my life, I have good times and bad times, but you must keep going. I am going through a very low spot at the moment, some of the things members have mentioned in here really do help, exercise especially, and listening to upbeat happy music is good too. Some days you may feel like there's no fight or spirit in you, just persevere, tomorrow is always another day. I have found an escape in coming on here and being daft with some equally nutty people who I have gotten quite attached to, and who "get me". Keep your chin up, and I hope things turn around for you very soon :)

Echo both comment above.
Clearly some have no idea what true depression is or what clinical depression is. You can't just snap out of it, can't just give yourself a good shake, can't just get motivated and get on with it - much as the person might want to - there is nothing that gives the person the will or the impetus to do that.
Good for you OP on starting such a thread - it's at least a dedicated place where people who do suffer from depression in the true sense of the word (and the diagnosis) to offload and share some of that on a thread that is specific to their needs - or those who have suffered and got through it, can help share what aided them on the road to good health again.
At lets be honest: we all have needs - they are just different needs - so I welcome this type of thread as long as it is respected for what it is; and respecting the reason the OP created the thread. In that respect I wonder if the fact that it's housed in the 'Chat & Games' section may make the thread one to be not taken so seriously?
I can only steal Kate's last words on the subject; which were "Keep your chin up, and I hope things turn around for you very soon ".
