Black Labour MP Diane Abbott is facing calls to quit over a remark on Twitter that has been deemed racist against white people.
The shadow minister for public health said during a conversation about the sentencing of Stephen Lawrence's murderers that 'white people love to play "divide and rule",' adding 'we should not play their game'.
The tweet came with a hashtag that spelt out 'tactic as old as colonialism'.

I seem to remember her campaigning for state schools only to send her own children to a private school. She's obviously into double standards

Yes
her only interview this morning on this mess up
was on SkyNews and she was stopped as Ed phoned her.

She was busy all morning going on all
TV stations about the Court Case in the news.

If this was a White Person saying this - they would be gone

Well Done ITV1 London News
They showed the SkyNews Interview
and the BBC1 'This Week' show Interview
from 18 months ago and she refused to talk any words
on her Kids Private School.

She always sounds so patronising too though, even on the rare occasions she is right, definately time to go.

I'm white and i wasn't offended by what she said. Nothing she said makes me feel diminished or degraded as a white person at all.

If she gets sacked for this, then that really is "political correctness gone mad".

It doesn't offend me either but if every non-white person also did it it would start to become intimidating. That's why it has to be stopped beforehand imo.

It's not quite the same as when a white person does it because white people don't face racism all the time.

Even if every non-white person in Britain said it, it would still be a small minority. The UK is like 80% white, isn't it? So how would it be intimidating?

It depends where you are, it's 80% non-white in some areas, like Hackney

Well if a white person in Hackney is feeling intimidated they would receive help from the police i think, But i don't think Diana Abotte is doing that type of intimidation towards anyone. She's certainly not encouraging any type of violence, i don't think.

I think Diane's comments were intended to stir up race hate

I don't think that was her intention at all. I think she was making a point about the black community and how other racial minority communities are able to support each other, like the indian and chinese communities able to do better.

I think in some ways she was being more racist towards the black community than the white community, by saying that blacks don't stick together. Indians and chinese stick together to make more opportunities for their minority communities, and she was just saying why can't blacks do the same?

I agree it was wrong to blame "white people", but i don't think she was really criticizing white people, she was more criticizing black community for not being able to work together to lift themselves up.

I've seen her on Question Time before, and she seems competent to me.

I agree that ed miliband is a worthless paper doll though. Labour needs a real leader soon plzzz.
