I heard a rumor that the house might be changing this upcoming season, so i decided to make a thread about it.
If the house layout is changing next season what would you like to see in it (i.e. layout, design, theme, function).
This is a house that I posted on another thread, but i didnt get any feedback so i changed it a little bit. http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/3939/bigbrother.png (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/545/bigbrother.png/)

Yeah I dont think that it should be every season because i think that might be too much for america to handle, myself included, but every few seasons would be good.

Agreed, and probably cost too much money. One of the reasons CBS likes Big Brother so much is that it's pretty cheap to make compared to other shows.

I hope that there are more house rooms on the second floor besides the hoh bedroom. I hope that next season they make some drastic changes to the diary room so it actually fits the house. But the current diary room is my favorite one.
BTW donovan can you put doors? It's hard to figure out how to get to the diary room

me too thats why i put a gym on the second floor
yeah its a little confusing but i put the house on a lot of different levels so the house is a little more interesting, since there are stairs going down to the living room i put a platform next to the hallway of the diary room which is that white rectangle next to the hallway of the diary room
Anyway here is the floor plan with the doorshttp://img809.imageshack.us/img809/3939/bigbrother.png (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/809/bigbrother.png/)

the reason that there's a door in front of the hoh staircase is because i just felt like since i pushed it into the wall there should be a glass partition infront of it. i would also put glass partitions around the bathroom (where there isnt production areas), in the bedroom behind the three first beds on the left and for the entrance to the bedroom, and maybe around the living room just before the stairs

this is another house design that i just recently did. The living room was kind of inspired by a night club with circle lounges and the last house that i did with the sunken living room. And i put in an eviction hall so that we could actually see them walking to front door instead of just waiting to see them appear from the front door. I added more space to the 2nd floor, because the house doesnt need to feel cramped with a 2nd floor. i didnt add a pandoras box to the HoH because i felt like if PB was really necessary, the DR could be used.

Great designs there - and really like how you've stuck with reality and worked with the space they have rather than just put everything in you want.
The layout is long overdue a change (it's been the same since BB6, which essentially was only a flipped version of the old BB1-BB5 house anyway). Not sure though if one bedroom is the way to go with BBUSA - though your original design with the have/have not split bedroom works.
And talking of have/have nots, years ago I did a plan for a Rich/Poor split US house. I really think the format would work within the US format as physically dividing alliances would change the dynamics each week, giving the rich housemates access to the HoH that the poor HMs can't get. Quality isn't great but you get the idea - basically the existing spare room/bathroom becomes the poor area, with the bathroom moved to one of the bedrooms for the rich half. The diary room is relocated so it can be accessed from both sides and the garden layout is changed to reflect the divide - and include the poor kitchen/outdoor bathroom. HoH is upstairs as normal.

I like it but the gym needs to be cut in half and the half that the gym doesn't use is the storage room because if the hgs put thier ears up to the storage room then they could really hear production.

I also enjoy the layout, but think of adding in a Poor Gym. It would have something absurd in it, like a pommel horse from the 1960s(think upcoming Olympics that they'll be missing while in the house) and a lone sad looking medicine ball in a very small room. :spin:

I put more detail into the backyard. The Have-Nots would only be able to use the outdoor kitchen and wouldn't be allowed in the indoor kitchen until nomination ceremony, kinda like the Rich/Poor House that Brekkie had. The pool has a roofed sitting area next to it.

Another good effort, though I'd switch the Have Not bedroom with the storage room and create a bit of a Have Not Zone there with the bedroom inside and a outdoor kitchen and perhaps shower next to it. The back half of the house could then potentially be opened up as a luxury Have Zone - so it won't be so much a Rich/Poor divide, but they'll be a Have Not Zone, a Have Zone and then a communial area including the lounge which is used for ceremonies etc.
Also notice you seem to like making the kitchen-diner a separate room - not sure I like that personally. I also think this latest design is a little bit too much corridor, but open up the kitchen and create that zone like I suggested and it kind of solves the problem.

Yeah for some reason I just can't picture the kitchen not being a room. And I like the idea of switching the Storage with the Have Not.
I wanted to make a house that's u shaped with a central DR , but I wasn't sure if it would be too similar to the current layout.

This is the only house that I've done with a theme that affects the design, but somebody asked me if i could do a house that was inspired by The House Nextdoor. My response would be The Guesthouse. The Guesthouse made the rest of the house a little smaller, but I think that I fit it all in well.

I can see it working as some sort of Halfway house twist. Four new hgs are sent into the house next door. And a previous evictee selected by a in studio competition about 3 weeks in enters with them. At the end of the week the previous houseguest selects two new hgs to move with them back into the main house

i would like to see 3 new possible HGs move into it week one. Then have america evict someone from The Guesthouse every week before the evicted HG enter The Guesthouse. This way 3 possible HGs would always be in The Guesthouse. Then on week 4 or 5 have America vote on which one or two to send back into the game.

Or just having two new HGs enter The Guesthouse on day one. The first two evictees enter as soon as they're evicted. At the end of the 3rd or 4th week have America vote to send in one evictee and both new HGs. Having three more HGs enter the house.

I really like that guesthouse idea and you don't seem to have stolen too much space at all from the main house to accomodate it - they wouldn't really know it's there. I've long thought they could do the Bedsit twist, which would play out over two weeks, beginning with the newly crowned HoH being told they'll nominate three people for eviction and two will be evicted. As a result the Veto becomes the Super Veto, allowing the winner to name a replacement for any nominee they save. On eviction night the HoH will evict one person automatically then the second will be voted out in the usual manner - but both are fake evictions to the "guest house". They get to spy for the week as America votes on which one should return in the next live show.
And where it's positioned you could probably have secret access from the HoH room to do a Secret Garden style twist.
And although the gym is fine outside it could easily go on the balcony you've created. My only quibble is I'm not sure about the positioning of the Diary Room - might be better switched with the storage room or just have the one DR shared by both the house and the guest house (have it accessed off the entrance corridor).
Donovan.

I want to make a layout to show the potential of the house if the folks at CBS ever wised up and realized how big the studio actually is. The BB house/interview-room really only take up a third of the space that the whole studio has. If they doubled the size of the space they use for BB and used half of it as an American Idol style stage they could make more money for the show by selling tickets to eviction night and have more room in the house.

The house has a straight eviction hallway that leads to the DR hallway. Stairs lead up to the DR hall from the Living Room. The Kitchen is raised above the Living Room and leads to the Bedroom which holds the Bathroom. Outside of the Living Room there is a Pool House that holds the pool and a seating area. From the Pool House you can get to the Backyard. The Deck has a Grill, outdoor dinner table and a sunken Hot Tub/sitting area.

I love how different that last plan is - it really would feel like a completely new house. And a little thing but I quite like the idea of having the Memory Wall directly behind the sofas so it will be in shot behind the nominees come eviction night.
Interesting idea having the Glass House within the house too in your previous plan, though to be honest not sure the location works as it is only visible from the corridor to the HoH room as you've effectively sealed the upstairs off. It kind of needs to be in a location where it is visible from most places in the house (but can easily be hidden by fake walls before it is revealed).
