Now you know I really like Helen, so the following may come as a surprise. I've seen this morning's Big Breakfast and I'm afraid she was a little lacklustre.

I think she might have been late to start with. Quite a build up with that funny little guy (?name) dressed in spandex waking up reluctant people on an Essex housing estate before she arrived. (?PC dropped her off on way to Ford Dagenham plant?).

H eventually arrives and they pan to her standing looking cold and miserable, and well, a bit gormless, dressed in her normal jeans & leather bomber jacket. When she eventually realised she was on camera she stuck her tongue out with chewing gum on it!
Return to studio scene, everyone looking slightly grossed out, including Mark Frith.

When they returned, with residents lined up and aforesaid little bloke whose name escapes me, he asked if her exercise video was just a scam. She didn't really answer that at all and replied that he should bring one out. She then failed to give any advice to residents when he asked her to and just got them to jump up and down, whilst standing still herself! Oh dear!! He really had to rescue the scene, as she seemed unprepared and unable to improvise.

It's a pity but I thought she could have done better, didn't take an opportunity to sell herself or her video.

A promised return to the scene did not materialise, so she had no chance to redeem herself. Don't think they'll rush to have her back I'm afraid.

Worst of all, I can confirm no engagement ring sighting, despite clear sighting of appropriate finger!!!!

I had intended being organised and watching this this morning, but I was up very late on here and I'm afraid it didn't happen - I was still  !!

From what you say ROB, I think I'm glad I didn't see it. as it does sound as though she didn't do herself justice. What a shame. :bawling:

It isn't always easy to look your best on camera, especially early in the morning, but if she wants to keep her media career going, it is a skill she will have to learn. Maybe she's getting fed up with the celebrity lifestyle, she did hint in the Celebrity Looks inerview that she was thinking of going back to hairdressing.

As a HUGE Helen fan, I really hope that she she does continue to grace our screens for a long while to come. Her performance on Lorraine has steadily improved and she seems to be doing very well there, but her 6 month contract runs out in February so we can only hope that it is going to be extended. Now might be a good time to email them let them know just how popular she is.

The cynical part of me (OMG I'm beginning to sound like Sticks with his impending sense of doom!!) has been wondering whether this is why we have seen so many different Helen interviews in the press recently. Is this her agent making sure he ups her awareness just in case Sky were intending dropping her. Lets hope this isn't the case.

I think the rise in interviews is to coincide with the video release. Decent interviews in a glossy mag with photos get done quite a while before they are published, so I doubt it's panic interviewing. They probably did a bit of a Brian on her by encouraging her to keep a low profile before then.

I'm only sad because if Helen's in all the December magazines talking glitter, and the January magazines talking fitness, then she'll be quiet again.

As for Big Brekkie - I only saw the last bit, as I'd logged off from my computer by the time anyone posted about it. I didn't think the section was amazing, but it didn't occur to me she'd done badly. It looked like the high of a show that seemed more disorganised than normal. I generally think Mike (spandex man) is good, but I don't think he was very helpful today, which is not unusual. He works alot better when the item centres around him getting up to japes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Helen had no idea what she was doing until the cameras started rolling. It's perhaps a useful lesson for her to learn to ask! Unlike the Lorraine lot that she's used to, the B Breakfast crew probably don't care one way or another if she looks stupid. I've defnitely seen her do better tv, but I'm sure the less obsessive didn't think anything of it.

I used to really like the Big Breakfast, but some days (like today) you can tell they really haven't thought through their items and the content isn't there anymore. In the Summer it totally relied on BB for items. They'd have Mel on one day talking about who did what that week, then on the Tuesday or Wednesday they'd have an evicted person. Evicted person was normally involved in a couple of items. When Paul was on they sensibly had him in on about 5 times! They even had his parents on the day of his eviction. It provided a great deal of the content for the paper review and if something exciting happened they talked about it.

Perhaps they're still recovering from the party season, but I think it is for the best an entirely new show replaces it. The chaos is becoming embarassing, not amusing. Most importantly I won't have to suffer that awful Amanda woman!

Didn't see this, I'm afraid - like LEE I was still  when it was on.

I'm not a great fan of the Big Breakfast anyway, IMO it hasn't been the same since Johnny and Denise left.

In Helen's defence, I can't think of anything worse than having to stand outside in this weather at 8 o'clock in the morning trying to look cheerful. I'm sure she'd far rather have been back home snuggled up with Mr Clarke!

Even an off-day performance from Helen is still preferable to Brian and Paul anyday. They cannot afford NOT to have her back. Helen is still a media Queen in my opinion.

She might be, LEE, but I think maybe not. They won't want to push the BB link i don't think, particularly as some in the biz are so sniffy about it!

I think yesterday H reminded us all how natural, funny and sweet she can be with more of a free reign. And she can talk seriously and sensibly!

At least she should be back on Lorraine tomorrow. As her contract is up for renewal next month, I intend to send in supportive emails, how about everyone else?

I must point out that I find I I have misled you all re: this appearance on BB.

Apparently she had been in the studio intially at 7.15.am before I was able to see it, being interviewed by Amanda Byram.

In this interview ( I learn from Nicki's posting on TBB) she held her own very well with Amanda, made lots of the comments we wanted to hear re: blissful existence in arms of PC, inseperable etc., house they've bought etc, etc.

She talked about ther video and then was sent out to join that silly spandex man subsequently.

So, sorry I have misled you, but really glad I was wrong.

:hello::hello:

Unfortunately I fear lots of people will have only caught the last bit of her appearance and thought, 'What was that all about', like I did. :
