View Full Version : People putting spoilers up

I know some of you put the word SPOILER in the thread title - but seeing as all it takes is to briefly move the mouse over the thread title and it reveals the wording in your opening post....... can you please spoiler the OP content as well - otherwise it's all too easy to accidentally see what you have written without even opening up the thread.
Ta very much.

There are now no less than 3 threads now all showing the same thing, 4 if you include the poll.

Thank you.
Nice to see that someone sees where I am coming from.
I didn't necessarily want to know this info just yet - but with so many threads on the same subject, with the Opening posts not spoilered (though I see King_Anton has now done so) - putting the word spoiler in the thread heading is a waste of time.

My most pertinent point is the fact that mentioning the names in the first post defeats the purpose of putting the word SPOILER in the thread title.

Even putting the post in a spoiler it still comes up when you hover over it. I'll mention to admin about it, see if they can change that.

Why not insist on every post on every thread to be posted in spoilers, would also save people putting others on ignore lists etc.

Mine was first one I THINK.....
I spoilered it when I read this. My bad :)
Just put the Word SPOILER first line and press enter a few times
Problem solved :)

If it wasn't then there would not be requested in the rules as posted by Admin and the mods.... - as is the fact it does in fact state that the opening post text should also be spoilered.
It even goes as far to explain how to do it.

Posting spoilers, without a spoiler warning in the title, and spoiler tags inside the thread, will be punished. Not everyone wants to know things before they happen. To post a spoiler, just put the text inside [ spoiler] [ /spoiler] (minus the spaces)

Maybe a wee step for a hint would be a very gently reminder by way of announcement from the mod team would highlight that what is requested by members posting spoilers, isn't happening.
A friendly reminder to fms wouldn't perhaps go amiss.
I need to put deliberate intent into having my pointer on a thread title and leave it there for a good, countable second before the opening post appears.
I wish my computer was as fast as yours.

It wasn't a sarky comment. I literally have to do that. I didn't know other computers were capable of doing it so much faster. Presumably the words also flash in magenta bold too and linger with a sort of fading effect for a further eight seconds to spoil all the top Big Brother action.

Seeing as it happens to be one of the rules of the forum - see my previous link - you might want to relay that info to admin - seeing as they make the rules.
It is a valid point - regardless.

Well clearly I am not the only person on this thread who had the same thoughts on the matter - perhaps you want to address them also in having super duper fast computers too?

It literally only takes second - and if you are moving down the titles or accidentally move the mouse too far, it's easy enough to do - even easier when there were at the time, 4 or 5 threads all on the same topic, all doing the same thing.
It's a valid point as I have said repeatedly.
Tom4784

Don't leave your cursor hanging over the topics then? It seems pointless to make a big deal over it when you can avoid it by making a few micro movements.

As I said Dezzy, I have a valid point and I explained it quite clearly why it is valid.
Oddly enough: it is in the rules that the text inside the thread should also be spoilered - I'd have thought a mod would have been promoting people sticking to the rules, rather than telling fms that their raising such a matter was pointless. I thought we were meant to follow rules, not ignore them?:conf:

No point you arguing with me about it: I'm not making a big deal - you can see from my original post, it was a polite friendly request - and as far away from a big deal. People not liking my saying what I've said, are the ones making a big deal - not me.

This is a fan site, most people are gonna be interested in the most up to date information, especially since even the offical show BOTS gives away spoilers in it's show.
If you don't want spoilers then you shouldn't be on a fan forum to begin with IMHO.

Same reply as I gave Dezzy. Not every fan wants to know the results before they are shown on TV. Not every fan watches the spin off show either. You shouldn't assume that what you want, is what everyone else wants.
Given your words in bold above: 'if you don't want spoilers' , clearly you have missed the entire point of the thread - given that it IS proper spoilers that I referred to in the actual thread, not just the title.
Apart from anything, I have every right to be on this forum, whether I am a fan or not of BB.

Yes slow connection speeds not showing you have posted quick enough but connection speed quick enough to show content of each thread while hovering your mouse over it.
Strange that!
Also: it's are impatient posters. :p
Its not often you are right but oops you are wrong again, it can be either is or are depending on the context. Impatient posters being a collective group, therefore a singular case and "is" is contextually more apt.

Then why are you hovering over spoiler threads? If you don't want to get spoiled then move your mouse a few centimetres away from the Recent Posts. It's just laziness to expect admin to have spend time coding in new features just because you don't want to move your mouse a little bit to the side.

Nothing strange about it at all - I said I've been having issues with my connection which was in relation to the previous double post - and I was unsure whether it was caused by issue at my end or with Tibb's very slow and bothersome server.
Besides which, it looks like your doing not a lot on here, other than trying to cause trouble for the hell of it. Bored today are you?
Fact remains, my point is valid in regards to what I stated in my opening post.

I don't happen to be the only person who has referred to this on this thread.
I shouldn't have to do anything - if fms were at least reminded to follow the rules. You know, the ones that you as a mod should be at least trying to enforce - rather than insulting me by suggesting I am lazy.
I don't suggest admin do anything: admin make the rules do they not - it happens to be one of those rules as I pointed out earlier.
So rather than having a dig at me Dezzy, perhaps you should raise it with Admin that rules are being set up which are blithely being ignored - clearly by fms and at least one mod.
It certainly seems quite bizarre that a very polite request from me seems to have stemmed into me being targetted - very unfairly - for doing nothing more than stating a small flaw that can spoil info that other fms may not want to see until it's revealed on the show.

Not as bored as someone who makes spurious threads whinging about thread titles and spoilers, when a solution that doesnt affect anyone else is so easy, dont have your mouse hovering over the thread title.
As that meerkat thing on TV says.... Simples!!!
Nah was up to my nuts in someones guts earlier now chilling before supper (my equivalent to the post coital ciggie) and another session later

I'll make a thread about whatever I wish to - especially when there was and is a clear purpose for doing so.
If you don't agree, that's absolutely fine, but you happen to one of the ones making a rather big issue out of what was a polite request.
I'm not sure why you keep playing up the idea that this is also a massive problem for everyone else. Only Roy Mars and Incensed have replied with anything amounting to similar frustration and Roy was more talking about multiple threads.
Anyone else find this a big problem? The whole hovering over spoilers thing? I'd love to be proven wrong so just throw your name in the hat if you're reading this right now. We might as well have a little cenus, y'know.
I mean if you find it annoying cool beans but I don't think it really botheres anyone else.
Jesus.
15-01-2012, 04:28 PM
I wonder how many pages we can drag this non-issue out over.
I think if people put spoiler in the thread subject, then they are keeping their end of the bargain.
If we as posters, have neither the intelligence, or dexterity to avoid hovering our mouse icons over these threads, then it's really our fault.
How about you move your mouse cursor up the margins of the page, then only move it across when you've reached the thread you want?
