Ryan Giggs' father has said he has "given up on him", as the family patriach becomes the latest member of the troubled family to speak out to the tabloids.

Ryan hit headlines last year when he was revealed to have been having extra-marital affairs with former Big Brother star Imogen Thomas and brother Rhodri's wife Natasha.

Natasha took part in this year's Celebrity Big Brother in a bid to change the public perception of her, and was evicted over Nicola McLean last week.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the boys' father Danny Wilson said: "When I think back to the two of them as boys they had such a close bond. I taught them to always look out for one another and look after each other. They were so tight. I simply can't believe how it has all fallen apart.

"It has been difficult for me at times putting up with the grief that comes with being Ryan Giggs's dad. I have defended him to the end and even taken a knife for him. But what he has done to his own flesh and blood is beyond belief."

Wilson described how he was stabbed in the neck and face after confronting fans of a rival football team who were racially abusing Ryan.

He continued: "He hasn't even said sorry to Rhodri. I find it hard to believe my own son could have done this. I would never close my door to any of my children. But I won't defend Ryan any more. I'm through with it. I've given up on him."

Natasha recently admitted she "didn't have the balls" to come clean about the affair.

Natasha and Rhodri have a son and she has a son from a previous relationship, who are much more important than this hate. If they are both willing, and can repair their relationship, that is what would be best for their children......leave them alone to try. This article is about the Giggs family.

Its about Ryan and his multiple affairs, his brother and his father. It has nothing to do with Natasha.

The most important line in the text is that Ryan hasn't apologised to his own brother. For that reason Mr Giggs is shamed.

Remember that Natasha has publicly and privately apologised for what went on. She openly admits that she was wrong and that its her own fault. Rhodri and herself from all accounts are working through the issues.

Ryan however is sitting on his millions.

We could talk about footballers and super injunctions being allowed to do as they please. But that has nothing to do with Natasha and Rhodri, or this thread.

giggs is a legend. hes not tried to proifteer from alleged affairs. hes stayed private. he was dating natasha yrs before his brother and rhodri only married had 5 months before this story broke. kiss and tells are disgusting. natalie and imogen have allegedly been around with other celeb footballers, so theres a pattern to their lurid behaviour..if giggs made a mistake and stayed with natasha and his others thats his private business. hes always been private and never been in the public eye. he just plays football and wins every trophy (world record 34 trophies and counting) loyal to one club he plays his 900th game for man utd in a few weeks. never milked them for money never threatened to leave, never been sent off for man utd, he is the ultimate pro, a hero to millions still. his career and his behaviour has been exemplary apart from these alleged private relationships, the full truth of which we will never fully understand
