i dunno, i;ve been reading about the megaupload guy they took down the day after the black out, and he does sound like a criminal, so i'm starting to think maybe they have a point.
Why should these foriegners be making millions from illegal downloading while the american entertainment industry is losing millions??
I feel like they are stealing from America.

eggsactly, and the american economy is not doing well at the moment, and entertainment is one of our major exports, so why shouldn't the US congress try to protect American Property???
The more i think about it, the more i realize that the rest of the world is literaly STEALLING from us with these illegal download sites.

They do have a point, but, they're going about it in the totally wrong day. Megaupload was taken down under current law - and maybe they deserved it, they did little to curtail people uploading cracked games, pirated songs or movies or books. Through SOPA/PIPA/ACTA websites like Youtube would face being taken down, even though they take measures to prevent copyrighted material.
Also, America doesn't rule the world, I found the way that countries around the world extradited their citizens to America disturbing. America is slowly becoming the land of the greedy. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against you American's, it your government who are out of order. Passing laws because of lobbyists [Read: people who bribe politicians to get laws passed that benefit them.]

I know alot of people only do piracy because they either.
1. The said American show doesn't air in the UK or any other country.
2. Some people do piracy because they want an extra copy of something they love but can't afford to buy it for a 2nd time.
3. Similar to reason number 2 apart from the fact that they couldn't afford it in the first place.
Also another thing whoes to say that American citizens aren't also illegally stealing these stuff from American companies?

What about Americans who watch Japanese anime? What about Americans who crack British/European/Japanese games? What about Americans who torrent British/European films? Can we extradite them to our country to face trial? Of course not.

See, i find that offensive, that you call it greedy when the American government tries to protect American artists.
The truth is the vast majority of pirated material (movies, TV shows, Muysic) is American, so what is wrong with the American government trying to protect our own artists??
The more i learn about this, the more i'm thinking maybe the government is actually protecting Americans, and it's just the rest of the world being upset because they want to keep getting American art for FREE.

if they are making the kind of bucks that the new zealand mr. dotcom was making, then yes, i think they should be extradited. They'd prolly get a much lighter sentence in those countries anyway, lol, they'd prolly prefer to be prosecuted in those countries than in America.

A lot of US material is pirated thats very true.
However if you think about it logically, the sources of the pirated material is more often than not American too. Surely America should make sure its own house is in order before demanding the extradition of other countries nationals.
By all means ask for information to trace back those sources to their origin. Prosecute them to the fullest extent of your laws, give fair and just punishments to the US citizens who are guilty of copyright infringements before taking action outside of your own borders. Publicise those prosecutions. Let the world know that you do prosecute all cases of copyright theft.
It will save the rest of the world knowing you are bullies, who demand and expect extradition with a potential view to prosecution, even when you wont sort out your own internal problems. Then again seeing a lot of US citizens up for copyright theft might not look as good for the FBI etc as the high media coverage given to cases of a foreign national being extradited to the US.
If a company in the UK decided to ask for a US citizen to be extradited to the UK for copyright theft of a UK copyrighted movie for example, would you support that extradition? Even if the request for extradition was backed up by little or no evidence. as in the case of a lot of US extradition demands? Or do you hold that might is right and what the US asks for the US should get?

Why :conf2:
Because they're suppose to be incharge of the country.
Because they're suppose to be incharge of the country.
But you can see there's almost an even spread of Republicans and Democrats across both sides, even though the number of Democrats in support of the bill is more than the number of Republicans, overall most Democrats are against it, if that picture Chewy posted is true. Republicans are the red pictures and Democrats the blue

I'm not saying that all Republicans are backwards, but the ones against it are imo.
I don't understand why any of the Democrats would be against the Internet though.

Yeah, I looked deeper into American politics and realised they're both same ****, different parties. Same with British politics too, since we're basically a two party system masquerading as a multi-party system

I'm not saying that Democrats are heroes, but it's fairly obvious which party came up with this smart idea.
