They took to Twitter to express their frustrations at the leak, describing those who have distributed the new material as 'selfish idiots'.

The English duo have now appealed to their record label to release the album early in a bid stop pirates profiting from their material.

Sounds of Nowheresville is the second album from The Ting Tings and follows on from We Started Nothing, which achieved huge success in 2008, going double platinum in the UK.

An album titled Kunst was recently shelved by the band as they were not happy with the final result, making the leak even more frustrating for the duo.

Although album leaks are becoming less frequent, there have been some high profile victims in recent years.

Former X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd had her second single leaked by online pirates and hackers were able to gain access to Madonna's latest album and distribute it online.

A 'super fan' was arrested for hacking into Madge's server and leaking album tracks from her latest record M.D.N.A.

Odd Future's new album 'OF Tape Vol. 2' has been leaked online ahead of its official release.

The rap collective are officially putting out the new LP on March 19 in the UK and March 20 in the US but, according to fans on Twitter, copies of the record are already circulating around the internet.

Earlier today, Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator revealed that he was worried that people "might hate" the album. "Everybody might go: 'What the **** is this? We wanted this, we wanted that.' There we go," he said. "We made an album we wanted to make. If everybody hates it, OK. We have an album we like."

Previously, however, Tyler had claimed he was unconcerned about how well the album would do commercially and said he didn't care how many copies it sold.

'OF Tape Vol. 2' will feature new material from Frank Ocean, Left Brain and The Internet as well as Tyler and Hodgy Beats. Initially, it had been thought that Earl Sweatshirt would be not be involved with the album as he was not mentioned in any of the LP's tracklisting, but yesterday (March 16) a track from the record featuring the rapper, titled 'Oldie', was posted online.
