Yes but it's clear now that an American housemate can never win

Yes

It's just a shame that even if they were the best house-mate in there, it'd be impossible for them to win. even Neil Patrick Harris couldn't win if he went in, IMO.

The producers will always get American HMs in as they have way more star quality than our homegrown ****e ie TOWIE rejects.

I hope Michaels success attracts someone who can finish off in first place next year. NPH would walk it even against Wossie

HAHA, yeah massive Jericho fan =)

Loved his current story-line, it'd have been rubbish if he'd had just said what he was up to straight away. =)

But to keep on topic xD... yeah I'd love more American's they tend to be far superior to the UK house-mates.

It'll be interesting to see what happens at the rumble.

I'd love Steph to come out and be his manager. Doubtful but who knows......

They dont deserve to be on CBBUK according to the A-List Pete Burns. Someone is butthurt cause he's a nothing these days... needs to be "controversial" to stay in the headlines... bless his cotton socks.

I want more Americans in the BB House they have to be as controversial and hilarious as the twins and Michael.

CBB will always have Americans because Americans reinvigorate BB, because Americans are what the original spirit of the show is, because Americans don't know about BBUK, so when they come in, they really are being real, unlike the Brits who just see it as a platform for fame. The Americans don't know the legacy of BBUK and they literally are just there to get their paycheck and do their time.

The reason the civilian BBs are so crap, is because everyone they put in is trying to get a career out of it. The Americans are there for the paycheck, and they get the paycheck before they go in, so they have nothing to pretend about, or fake, they just do their job cause they're getting paid.

That's why Michael and the twins said "we are winners for getting to the final"

Totally agree, the UK celebs (most of whom are nobodies anyway) are totally in it for public acceptance. The US celebs couldnt care less what people think of them over here to a large degree.

I agree with most things you've said on this post but the original Big Brother is Netherlands all the way back in 1999.

i mean the original spirit of just putting people in a house and filming them in the game. The original concept of the game wasn't tryna be celebs.

I think that's a huge difference between BBUK and BBUS too, because people from BBUK have gone on to become celebs, while in the BBUS, none of the BBUS winners have ever become celebs, so no one goes on BBUS thinking they will be a celeb. there are many othger reality shows in the US that actually can make you a celeb. If you wanna become a celeb, BBUS wouldn't be the show you choose.

BBUK is an institution. BBUS is just a summer reality show.

I think the main reason for that is the fact in BBUK, the public holds the decision and is part of the show whereas BBUSA is completely a game between the housemates to play for themselves.

So when we get housemates like Tara Reid and the twins with their "game heads" they don't fully comprehend they must win favour with the viewing public more than their housemates. Ours is more the popularity contest.

I dont think most brits realise how different US TV is. There are so many competing networks that shows like BB are just another reality show. Not even a very popular one at that.

Very good post. Probably the case too.

It doesnt make them fair game for xenophobia though. Especially when a ****up like Denise Welch is behind it. The anti-american stuff on the shows makes me, as a a Briton, ashamed.

Yeah BBUS seems to be like what Total Wipeout or The Chase is over here,it doesn't really make any contestant famous afterwards.

Pete Burns and Tricia Penrose should be ashamed of themselves for their xenophobic slurs the other night about the Americans, the BOTS were cheering them too. They shouldn't be allowed on TV.

Well, yes, given the size of USA, Big Brother would need to be on the level of American Idol to make anyone even relatively known.

But I think the "making stars" side of BB is dying in this country (thank god) as housemates are forgotten about and fade away quicker by the year. The interest is at an all time low. Signalled by how disgusting and low rent the side show has become. I thought BBBM was bad with Brand but it's just diabolical now.

I havnt watched that sad excuse of a show since halfway through last BB. A show supporting a male ***** who ****s in kitchen items and wipes his crack on a pillow told me all i needed to know about the farcical show.

Everyday they tried bad mouthing Aaron... and he won. My personal best BB win ever. James Blunts.

i think having CBB keeps it somewhat relevant though. If it was just the summer series BBUK, then i agree BBUK is nothing like it was. But having CBB is very clever of the producers, because it does keep it in the public eyes.

Well, that deranged loser hasnt been relevant for decades so he's just trying too hard to be relevant... he's just a sad old nobody. So he'son the right show.

That Tricia bird from Heartbeat?... lol... she's been in the wilderness for years too. Pathetic nobodies trying to make headlines.

Accompanied by Jamie East and Alice Levine... i am ****ting myself laughing at these wannabees.

Not as much though. The definition of celeb gets vaguer year after year. So even with CBB it doesn't get a fraction of the attention it once did.

Xenophobia is a form of discrimination, not an opinion. You might enjoy spouting xenophobic crap around, but it's not welcome in multicultural Britain.

It's a shame how Xenophobic some voters are because in a large way CBB needs US Housemates, they are in a lot of cases the major talking points of the series. Plus, if we attempted to sustain the series on just UK housemates, who know the career-destroying potential of the show, Reality TV will begin to eat itself, with house's full of TOWIE, Scousewives, etc.

I shudder at the thought.
