A copycat of ukturtle's music one. Part of the "get TiBB moving again" community initiative.

You know the score. And I'll keep the questions to myself. It'll make it more exciting and stuff. I'm aware that only about four people will stick to this but whatever. Gaming is still science and technologies greatest initiative. To hell with sick people.

DAY ONE - YOUR FIRST GAME

http://www.insert-disk.com/images/stories/game_images/columns%20game%20play.jpg

Columns - Sega Megadrive.

Whilst Sonic The Hedgehog was most probably my second game, this was the first one I booted up on that six game bad boy of a cart when I got my Megadrive about fourteen years ago. I had never and have never yet played Tetris or any other game of it's sort so this is my Tetris. Only it's all Roman and ****. Or Greek. Whichever. I became addicted to it and still give it the odd whirl on the PS3 via the majestic Sega Ultimate Collection. Nothing beats arranging blocks by colour as some ambient Roman music flirts away in the backround. Or Greek. Whichever.

I got a N64 for Christmas when I was 6 and that was the first game I got, I was more into videos (Rosie and Jim, Barney) before then.

I honestly can't remember what my first game was, other than it would have been for the Playstation 1.

I think it might have been a fighting game, but I can't remember the name. It was 2D, and you flew around the screen, throwing cards at each other, and it was probably awful considering I can't find any information about it.

Now remember I am an oldie, and I dont mind if you laugh, but when I first played computer games it was on an Amstrad computer, the best game was Manic Miner, very tame to what we have now, but I spent many an enjoyable hour on it.

I remember playing this on N64 for hours. It was just great, remember always getting the super automatic gun that would basically let you be able to walk through the game killing everyone. Beat this game hundreds of times over, think there were only about eight levels. Amazing

No, I don't think it was Evil Zone. You were always flying/floating mid air in the game I'm thinking of.

cant really remember mine but the first game i remember playing is thrill kill, i was about 8 and i played it on my cousins chipped ps1 i probably only remember it because it so disturbing it was a fighting game and you could play as a cannibal who beat people to death with somebody's leg he had chewed off, or some woman dressed up in a bondage suit and some crazy doctor with a scalpel no wonder im so damaged :suspect:

it does look amazing though :amazed:

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Hrm, so yeah I started with the sequel and not the original. This was actually released when I was about 5 months old but I was given a PlayStation 1 by a friend as he got a PS2 and because I was poor and was growing up with just one parent who struggled to pay bills. But yeah, for that reason I seem to worship this game. It's nothing spectacular, your average platformer. No tough difficulty like the original, no powers or time trials to go back for like the threequel, but even so this game just always has a special place in my heart. Everything is nostalgic, which is probably why I can play this game so many times and never get bored.

Shining in the Darkness

http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Games/G/Golden%20Sun%20DS/Everything%20Else/Primer/Screens/darkness--article_image.jpg
One of the most well known RPG series on the Mega Drive, Shining in the Darkness was the first "Shining" games, it was followed by the well know RPG/Strategy game, Shining Force. Shining in the Darkness had a simple premise, defeat the evil Darksol who was manipulating the events in the Kingdom of Thornwood, first capturing the Princess, and then your father. It's a dungeon crawler in the most traditional sense, it looks basic now, but I still love to play it.

DAY 2 - FAVOURITE CHARACTER

http://gamer.blorge.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/xbox360metalgearsolid4-2.jpg

SNAAAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

It could only be this bloke. I wanted to go for Naked Snake - Big Boss - who is technically my favourite incarnation but picking his son allowed me to squeeze in more classic varations as his story spreads across multiple games. Here is a man who is invading heavily fortified military installations - pitted against ruthless terrorists with severe personality disorders - and he is having a whale of a time. It's not lost on me that Snake is an utter prick. His a complete bastard to most people he meets in the game and comes across as a crass, charmless James Bond but that's all part of the appeal. Wolves bone him, Christopher Eccleston could play his evil brother in a movie, he can pilot a mini nuke like an RC car and he smuggles cigarettes inside his STOMACH.
AWESOME!

Day 2 Favourite character: Manny Calavera from Grim Fandango

http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/221/177782-manny_calavera_large.jpg

Grim Fandango is probably one of the greatest games ever and Manny is probably the coolest main character of any game ever. Basically a 1950 film noir detective in video game form.

Day 1 - Your first game: Tomb Raider
Day 2 - Your favourite character: Auron

http://gameaxis.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/auron.jpg

I've never actually finished FFX, despite having played the first (what I'm guessing is) two thirds of it at least 4 or 5 times. It's either been a boss fight I got stuck at, or a problem with the disc/PS2 that has prevented me from completing what I still consider one of my favourite games of all time. Now I'm just waiting for the HD re-release.

But yeah, Auron; complete badass. You were playing the game wrong if you didn't have him in your party whenever you had the opportunity to.

Ramsay
30-01-2012, 06:35 PM
Auron was indeed hardcore..I've been stuck on that part of the game where they are on a plane and have to kill some monster for the last 7 years

Day 1: Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Day 2: Godot

http://images.wikia.com/aceattorney/images/4/48/Godot.png

The Ace Attorney series is full of great characters and Godot can easily be considered to be one of the best. He was a enigmatic character that was funny and likable as well as being expertly written. None of the games past or present has ever, in my opinion, matched Trials and Tribulations and Godot is one of the main reasons for that, he's just too damn likable. You gotta love a man who responds to opposing objections by throwing hot cups of coffee at people.

Also there's no way you can listen to his theme and not feel classy as hell.

Mister Handy. The Fallout 3 version though :bored: why the hell they decided to replace the British accent with a robotic voice is beyond me. I mean if you piss him off he'll run at you with a flamethrower screaming "FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY!" how much more badass can you get?

Day 1: Your first game - Shining in the Darkness
Day 2: Favourite character - Nathan Drake

http://i39.tinypic.com/2pr7oki.jpg

In most modern games you seem to always play as the moody dickhead, who seems 100% focused on the mission. So Nate is a breath of fresh air, the only thing he gets by on is charm, wit, and pure luck. Nate is most like Indiana Jones, except in game form...plus he draws **** like this in his book

Day 2 Favourite Character - Freya Crescent - Final Fantasy IX

http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/3647/214950-kar_freya_large.jpg

For anybody who has ever played Final Fantasy IX, this is possibly one of the most "WTF" chocies out of all the main characters in that game. I just loved her whole story arc and really felt for how tragic that everything she loved and let go of was falling apart around her. Her story is only really in a quarter of the game but it's always been a really strong one in my mind. Plus, that bitch wields a spear like nobodys business.

Honourable mentions to Blank of FFIX, Vivi of FFIX, Balthier of FFXII and Fox McCloud

DAY 3 - BEST SOUNDTRACK

I'm splitting mine in two :

http://source.mobileddl.com/files/image/Tony-Hawks-Pro-Skater-3-MeBoy-2010-03-07.jpg

http://i.neoseeker.com/boxshots/R2FtZXMvUGxheXN0YXRpb24vUm9sZS1QbGF5aW5nL0ZhbnRhc3 k=/final_fantasy_vii_frontcover_large_2dJRnR2KUFz3QbY .jpg

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for licensed music and Final Fantasy VII for the original score. Endless free plays of Skater Island and Airport introduced me to bands like CKY as a kid and I still have a soft spot for that dumb skater music. It seems most of my friends also will bang out acapella the opening riff of 96 Quite Bitter Beings upon mention of the game.

FFVII's score is just majestic and apart from the obvious ones I would cite the ominous City Of The Ancients (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gXV72Zcq4o) theme and the main theme used on the World Map (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhxfCWaXYIo) as being examples of this. FFIX's soundtrack isin't too far behind either.

Day 1: Your first game - Shining in the Darkness
Day 2: Favourite character - Nathan Drake
Day 3: Favourite Soundtrack - Silent Hill 0rigins

2NGDwfDGBrM

Silent Hill 0rigins is the one Silent Hill game that is by large, ignored, due to its release on the PSP (and much later, PS2). Akira and Mary's work on this soundtrack stood out as the highpoint of the Silent Hill band. Though from what I heard today from Silent Hill Downpour, Daniel Licht's (Dexter composer) will blow Akira far out of the water.

Day 01 - My first game: Tomb Raider
Day 02 - My favourite character: Auron
Day 03 - My favourite soundtrack Saints Row the Third (licensed) / Persona 4 (original)

My favourite moments in gaming last year came from Saints Row's use of licensed music. They absolutely nailed it. And the radio stuff ain't bad either.

Persona 4 has my favourite OST largely because of how memorable it is. While some of the tracks can get rather irritating after the fourth hour spent trudging through a dungeon, with the same short beat being looped over and over again, it's still very successful in setting the tone of the game and every scene within. A lot of it is just fun, delightful, Japanese pop.

Day 02 - My favourite character: Teddie (Persona 4)

http://videogamesheaven.net/movie-p4-character-005.jpg

I'm changing my favourite character to Teddie. Brilliantly written, charmingly funny, and the reveal half way through along with his general involvement in the story, makes him my favourite character in video games.

Day 03 - My favourite soundtrack: Saints Row the Third (licensed) / Persona 4 (original)
Day 04 - Most emotional sequence: Nanako's death (Persona 4)

7:50 onwards
d9zg3su8Ddo
To have a character that you see more of than anyone else in this 80-100 hour game die, while also considering it's a 6 year old girl that has grown to love you as a brother over the course of the game, is incredibly ballsy and of course results in an emotional scene that you really didn't expect coming.

Apparently I love Persona 4 more than I realised.

Day 1: Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Day 2: Godot
Day 3: Final Fantasy VIII
Day 4: Crisis Core, Zack's journey and eventual death.

http://thelifestream.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Crisis-Core-artwork.jpg

The whole game is pretty much a cacophony of sadness but it struck a cord with me because of it's main character who, in the original FF7, dies pretty quickly and generally plays a small role in the proceedings. You never really know much about him until you play Crisis Core and even though you know what will ultimately happen to him you still want to try to avoid it at all costs because in Crisis Core he becomes such a likable and well developed character.

Most games tend to be a little OTT and melodramatic when they try to draw emotion from it's audience but I liked Crisis Core so much because it felt a lot more subdued and somewhat grounded in comparision to other games like it. It never felt forced or unnatural when it came to the more emotionally charged scenes.

Day 2: Favourite Character - Really hard one changes a lot as i play through RPG's but it's either Cecil FFIV, Locke FFVI or Reno FFVII i'll go for Reno though since he's the underrated one

Day 3: Best soundtrack - Final Fantasy X - Someday the dream will end, To Zanarkand, Besaid Island theme, Wandering flame, Yuna's theme, Braska's theme, Macalania woods, Revealed truth, Jecht's theme, Otherworld, Suteki Da Ne

Day 4: Most emotional sequence - Found the Tidus/Yuna lake scene pretty emotional due to the fact what they just found out before hand and the music was just amazing.. but Zack's death was incredible you know it's coming throughout the whole of crisis core but it's so worth playing through for, and the " I'm your living legacy " line from Cloud is superb.
