Documentary following bouncers working in Newport, Gwent, over one summer. The security firm is run by ambitious managing director Richie Davis and doughnut-loving operations director Len Harrhym, and their staff includes Joe Gower, a dry-witted Valley boy who was once a high earner in the insurance industry. Also in their employment is Geraint Clarke, known for his designer haircut, and Jamie Yarnold, who found respect, friendship and love after becoming the bouncer of a gay-friendly venue

I don't really like Bouncers but could be worth a watch

That was quite interesting, the bouncer who also worked in the pawn shop was pretty cool, I don't envy them anyway it's a sh*t job with all the things you have to deal with and only getting minimum wage for it

most of these are just young people out doing what a lot of young people do & having fun, like some kind of rite of passage.

Some bouncers are just ignorant mysoginist bullies (with issues of course) with suits on. In my opinion, so far anyway, this programme is not showering doormen in glory.

Nah I don't agree, it's one thing to go out and get drunk and have a laugh but the people who end up always just getting in fights over stupid stuff are idiots. And it isn't meant to be showing doormen "in glory" it's just giving an insight into what it's like to be one, bouncers piss me off sometimes and they can just be thugs but normally they're decent people trying to do a difficult job

That dark haired woman was crazy, took loads to pin her down lol Must be a pretty hard job though, some people like to test bouncers quite a lot. I guess you'll get good and bad bouncers like with everything else. Doesn't seem a well paid job for all the stuff they have to put up with.

To be fair there's nothing worse than being sober and having a drunk person coming up close and breathing in your face and all that. And he didn't look like he could take a hint

How do you know that though?

At no point in my posts did I indicate I thought it was most/more bouncers than not were less than proffesional & I just couldn't/wouldn't want to do that job for love or money. :)

ETA I also didn't mean to indicate that the doormen on this show were trying to 'cover the profession in glory' Its just my pesonal view that the 'profession' is not coming across very positively.
