The news filled our minds with images of burning Iraqi cities, being blown apart, leaving the country in ruin, however, part of Iraq is miles from that, here is an amusement park in Sulaimaniya, in the Kurdish reigon of Iraq (Which is generally a peaceful place). From the picture below, you'd never guess it was Iraq

It gives me hope that one day, eventually, the middle east will become peaceful, hopefully the day the addiction to oil ends.

Indeed, but I hope one day the whole world will finally be on something resembling peaceful terms :joker:

Quite Ironic when Iran is displayed as being "Nuclear Weapon Hungry" and "Cold War". Heard it all before...

It is quite obvious Iran is not making nukes or wants to, the west just wants an excuss to start a war and will flag up the "Weapons of mass distruction" card just like they did to Iraq and Afghanistan. Then steal there oil and there reserves. No wonder the west is getting worried about the Sanctions against the importation of oil. Not fooled this time! I have read up about this in great detail.

Yep, Cameron seriously can't be thinking he can get away with this like Blair, lets hope Iran see our protests if the war goes ahead, so they can see the actions of our government are not the actions the people want taken.

I'm afraid there's a war in Iran coming. It seems like Israel wants to attack them.

It's generally a peaceful place now. Tens of thousands of Kurds were massacred in this region by Saddam Hussein, so the fact they now have a rusty ferris wheel seems a little sad to me. Sulaimaniya was protected by the Americans for the last ten years. Now, without the protection of the US and while the Kurds are sitting on a load of oil, I wonder what will happen to it when the Iraqis decide they're taking it off them?

Really? That's quite...surprising, I pictured our presence there having a bad effect...but if we were the ones who helped them, then...

Israel struggled against a much smaller Hezbollah.
Attacking Iran would not be wise at all. still wouldn't rule it out though.

The Kurds suffered terribly under Hussein for decades before the war. Our presence (the US and the UK) protected a lot of people, it wasn't all bombing people. We'll just have to see what happens now. I hope it all works out, but like you say, the presence of oil anywhere is a great corruptor.

Ironic after Cameron's and Sarkozy's "peaceful nuclear power growth" talks we are suddently thown the idea of a cold war. Must have seen the excel spredsheets in horror. We have not much money to fight a war. And with the US elections coming up Obama will want a clean (haha) image for the polls and a new war is a no vote.
Israel has oil and has nukes and is best friends with the west...
