Honestly, I don't think a 7 year old child can be purposely racist, in the news for nothing.

I don't understand how it's considered racist. That is the reason he's brown. Africa is very hot and very sunny, so the skin evolved to build up extra melanin to protect against the sun. right?
Native Americans in Canada have lighter skin than Native Americans in Mexico for the same reason.

Very wrong, I'm surprised actually that the teachers aren't used to 7 year olds and the things they can come out with.

Hes 7. Fancy putting all this stress on them over nothing.
It's a perfectly normal question for a 7 year old to ask...I would encourage them to ask these questions so they can learn and not be racist or bigoted

He's a little kid. He shouldn't be expected to know what racism is at his age really. Christ. :bored:

Political Correctness taken way too far.
Stupid story, neither of the mothers seem to have though it was that big of a deal, but the school and the Mail have managed to one out of it
The last bit in the article though :joker:
More than 20,000 pupils aged 11 or younger were put on record for so-called hate crimes such as using the word ‘gaylord’

There's a restaurant in Isle of Dogs (10 mins away from where I live) called The Gaylord. It's quite old and famous (Enrique Iglesias ate there, they keep boasting it) and people tell me the word gaylord came from that LOL

But i have to agree it sounds daft

Yeah, cos he came home upset about it apparently, she says she didn't say it was racist though and thought it had been sorted a couple of months ago
With one mixed race child at the school where I work, the parents offered to come in and take an assembly with the children so they could ask questions if they wanted to. It was a good approach and stopped anything like this happening.

Oh, he's only a baby. The poor kid was probably asking a genuine question. It amazes me the way you can't say anything, these days, without being accused of having an agenda. :idc:

As the only legally discriminated against minority in the US, i must say, i must prefer people to ask questions than to just TELL me what they think.
I don't mind answering any questions about my minority status, at least it gives me a chance to educate people.
There is no such thing as an offensive question.
I'm only offended by people that think they have the right to educate ME on my own minority status. That's offensive.
Ask whatever ignorant question you want about homosexuality, and i'll happily answer. but if you think you can TELL me about being gay, then i'm offended and we'll have a problem.
There are no stupid questions though, i have no problem with questions. When someone asks a question it's good, because clearly the person wants to know, and it opens up a line of dialogue.
