Britney Spears is keen to join the panel of the US X Factor.

The Toxic hitmaker - who suffered a public meltdown in 2007 - thinks it's the "perfect time" to become a judge so she can prove to her fans she has put her troubles behind her.

A friend said: "She's a huge fan of The X Factor and thinks it's the perfect time for her to be a judge. She wants to show her fans she is back to her best and where better to do that than on national TV every week?

"She knows all about the ups and downs of pop fame. And with her schedule relatively clear she has the time to dedicate to a different project."

Show boss Simon Cowell has already axed Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger from the judging panel, but is said to be locked in discussions with Fox producers over who will be given the remaining two spots alongside him and record label boss L.A. Reid.

The insider added to The Sun newspaper: "Britney has had a tough few years but this would put her back at the very top. She would be great for the show and it could be great for her.

"In terms of excitement and intrigue Britney would top them all."

When pressed on speculation that Spears was a possibility, Cowll would only say: "I couldn't comment on it. Are we flattered that there could be interest? Yes. Other than that, there will be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we will announce."

He added: "While we have Idol and The Voice competing against each other, I've learned one lesson - keep your mouth shut and don't give it all away!

"These are the auditions which aren't filmed, these are the open auditions, so we probably don't need to confirm the new judges by then. That will happen over the next few weeks."

However, the 30-year-old singer isn't the only star who is keen to bag a place on the panel of the US 'X Factor', as LeAnn Rimes has also reportedly been meeting with show bosses about the job opportunity.

The Can't Fight The Moonlight hitmaker is said to be in talks with FreemantleMedia North America - the co-producer of 'The X Factor'- and believes she could be the perfect judge after getting her big break on reality show Star Search, PerezHilton.com reports.

Would love this to be true, I think she'd make a great judge. She has a whole lifetime worth of experience in the music industry and she's a huge name who's still a big seller in the US.

Katy might show up at judges houses
Kim is hated by alot of people so unless they want to not have a 3rd season, she won't be hosting
Perez probably would only want to host by himself, but Simon said he wants a male and female cohosts, so i don't think that's possible (TBH he's semi annoying)

I would rather see the two people that host a morning show on VH1, sure the guy's an aussie but his accent is BARELY noticable and i think they work well with each other (They're going after people with experience probably and have worked together before so they could be a choice)

But even though i would have no problem with Brit as a judge, I feel like Katy Perry would be a fun, bitchy, and yet also serious choice as a judge.

"Yeah, I love you"
"That was so totally great"
"I really love the sound of your voice"
"I really loved it"
"Wow, you go girl"

I can see her getting very repetitive within a few minutes. lol

I mean in interviews all she does is give very shallow, meaningless pleasantries that offer nothing insightful so I can't see her being very good on a judging panel.

Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue were hardly the pinnacle of talent but at least they didn't sound as inanely vacuous and as empty headed as Britney seems to be. They need a feisty judge like Osbourne was, the last panel was dull with nicey nice Scherzinger and Abdul.

That would never happen, she's just had a baby, no way would she be able to make such a huge commitment and Simon confirmed in an interview that they hadn't asked her.

Looks like she turned it down :(

Britney Spears has reportedly rejected a $10 million offer from the producers of The X Factor USA.

Earlier in the week it was reported that Spears was in final talks to join the judging panel for the show, but now it seems that she may not sign.

TheWrap reports that Spears is asking for $20 million to join as a judge, considerably more than the $2.5 million former judge Paula Abdul was apparently paid.

Producers have been searching for big names to fill the spots of Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, who were dropped from the show earlier this year.

Sources close to Spears say that if the deal does not go through, she is eyeing a possible Las Vegas residency show like Celine Dion's and The Voice judge Cee Lo Green's.

The X Factor is currently holding open auditions across the United States.

The second season of The X Factor USA begins in September.

Okay Shouldn't there be a sense of a little urgency? because judges' callbacks are in May over here.

Maybe they should hire one woman and then have the other woman ready to go by Boot Camp

(Use a guest judge in the fourth spot)

Britney Spears is set to sign a $15million deal to join the judging panel of X Factor USA, it has been claimed.

According to TMZ.com, Britney will soon be finalising her contract for the show, after her team work out the 'fine points' of the deal.
Once the contract has been agreed, it has to be approved by Britney's father Jamie, who is also her conservator, before being approved by the judge who 'oversees the conservatorship'.

However, a source told the gossip website that it is a 'virtual certainty' that the deal will go ahead.

The report came after Cowell admitted yesterday that he was desperate to have Britney join him and L.A. Reid on the panel for the new show.

Talking to TMZ.com, he admitted he could not reveal too much about the negotiations, but said he is expecting to hear back from the Toxic singer's people within the week.
He said: 'I would love to have her on the show ... I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to.'

One of the sticking points delaying the agreement has previously been cited as the number of series she would have to commit to.
A source said: 'Money is not an issue for the show. As of now, they are looking to pay her $12-15million for the first season, with a drastic price hike for a second year based on ratings performance.

'Simon Cowell wants at least a two-year commitment and Britney wants an out clause if she doesn't want to continue after one year of service.'

Looks like its back on.

BRITNEY Spears has got the green light to be a judge on the US X Factor in a £9.3million deal — with her fiancé acting as her minder.

BRITNEY Spears is set to pocket £9.4MILLION for being a judge on the US X Factor
Lover Jason Trawick, 40, was appointed one of her “conservators” by a judge on Wednesday, which ironed out legal issues surrounding her appearance.

The condition — giving control over the well-being of a person not deemed healthy enough to manage their own affairs — was imposed in 2008 following her meltdown.

Britney’s dad Jamie has had control for four years, and it had been feared she would need him on hand to help make decisions on the talent show. But Hollywood agent Jason will now take the responsibility instead.

Jason — her former manager — has been credited with helping her rehabilitation. He can now intervene and decide on aspects of her life like where she goes, what she eats and medical care.

The move also clears the path to them getting married.

Jason and show creator Simon Cowell, 52, have been locked in talks for months and the X Factor deal is now in its final stages.

A source close to Britney, 30, said: “Unlike her dad Jamie, Jason is comfortable in the world of showbiz. He will be able to make crucial decisions — although he won’t be getting involved in who to vote off.”

Cowell admitted earlier this month: “She would be a fascinating person to sit next to.”

The mum of two shaved off her hair in 2007 and was hospitalised the following year.

An X Factor spokesman refused to confirm or deny the Britney TV talks.

No offense to Nicole Scherzinger or Paula Abdul, but Simon Cowell just scored himself a serious upgrade for his X Factor judging panel. Britney Spears has reportedly signed a contract to appear as a judge on the televised reality show, reports E! Online. Spears signed the deal this week, securing herself $15 million for one season’s work, making her the highest paid judge in reality TV.

“She’s ready for this,” an insider says. “She can’t wait to sit down next to Simon at the judges’ table and give this everything she’s got. She is excited about showing the world that she can do this, and do this well. This is the perfect next stage in her career. Both Britney and Simon are very excited to work together.” We’re just excited at the possibility of Britney finally being able to fully speak her mind, even if it results in not-so-eloquent bon mots.

This will be Britney’s first project in television since her 2005 reality show Britney And Kevin: Chaotic, which lasted only five episodes on UPN. The singer’s fiance Jason Trawick, who was recently appointed her co-conservator, will also be joining the The X Factor has a producer.

Cowell is still looking for a fourth judge to join him, Spears and L.A. Reid on the panel. Both Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have been mentioned as possible contenders, though neither singer’s reps have confirmed or denied their possible involvement in the show.

I think she'll be good. Hope Demi gets the last spot.
