View Full Version : Your Best/Fave School Year? (School Memories Thread)
Brother Leon

Poll coming soon.
I caught up with some Secondary school friends today and we discussed the memories we had amongst many other.
What would you say your best/fave school year was and how was every year?
Year 7 - Pretty boring as it was the adjustment period.
Year 8 - Was quality, probably the third best year. Euro 2006 helped abit.
Year 9 - Meh. I was distracted and in love with what turned out to be a slag this year :(
Year 10 - Quality year. 2nd best. Some epic memories throughout the year. Man United winning the double gave me alot of bragging rights aswell.
Year 11 - Funnily enough, despite the fact there was the GCSE pressure, this could be argued as my top year. We pretty much took our GCSEs as abit of a joke while still getting some remarkable results somehow. The Study Leave and exam period at the end was the best time of my school time as weird as it seems :joker:. Coming in your own clothes aka swag on a maximum and watching the hotties wearing some short bottoms due to the weather . Coming in for your exam and then just after it Everyone leaving at the same time to go park to play some Football. It was a great time as a whole and we finished for Summer early(end up having about 2 months off)
Samuel.

None of them particularly stood out. Probably year 10, socially that was the best.

I would say year 10 or year 12 (now) when I go back to Singapore (which I know isn't actually at school but I hang with people from school).

year 11 :worship:
was suspended for like 30% of it and thats when i started becoming a reclusive mess and didnt really talk to anybody in class but at break/dinner hour myself and a select few would just run around the school causing havoc, stabbing people with pins and knocking litter bins over
it was epic

Probably being 16, older, but not old enough to have responsibility...being the oldest at the school and thinking you were cool
Staying at the skate park till late at night with friends just talking rubbish

I hated every single moment of school, so no year stood out really, I'd say year 10 though, 11 I failed my GCSE's so that was a massive downer, although I had an amazing prom.

Year 11 definitely, great year. Get to break up a good couple of months early because of the exams, an most times when you had to go in for them it'd only be an hour or 2 a day. Probably socialized with more people that year aswell. Prom, too.

Year 9  I enjoyed every year though in a way, you don't think you're going to miss school whilst you're there but since I've left I've missed it.

Half-way through Year 10 currently so it may change but so far:
9 > 8 > 10 > 7
Year 7-awful, I was hated, I was nasty to the few friends I had and I was a total cringe. A few good moments though, like when I made some new friends (and through them I met loads of the friends I currently have).
Year 8-started a bit rocky, got better and by Spring 2010 it was amazing. World cup felt so amazing at an all boys school, even if I can't stand football. The atmosphere during the matches were amazing. Downside was getting in trouble for "bullying" with a group of kids cos we blocked the entrance to one of the classrooms.
Year 9-Hated it at first, thought it was all serious, and my friends were pretty ****. Picked up in 2011 though. Rickrolled teachers, got good results in all classes bar science, made friends with basically everyone in my class and didn't want it to end :amazed:
Year 10-Haven't changed personality-wise since Year 9 but everyone around started becoming more arrogant and annoying. Had tons of arguments but had the most fun with just my friendship group as opposed to everyone. So many fights and with GCSEs coming up it's set to get worse probably. Not too bad though, I feel happy to be at school.

Don't know what year 7, year 8 etc means cos I is Scottish.
I hated school but I did enjoy 6th year as I was with a good crowd of folk and we used to go to the pub every Friday

It's not always like that. We had an infants school where it went reception > Year 1 > Year 2 and Junior/primary school started with Year 3.

Oh yeah they do infants school too in some places
and to add to the primary school list
Nursery - 3-4
Reception - 4-5
Year 8 in England = 1st year in Scotland
Year 13 = 6th year
My favourite years of school were 3rd year and 6th year; both because of the friends I had at that time.

4th + 5th year  (in secondary school, cba working out what it'd be) we used to have the BEST chemistry lessons ever because the teacher was an alcoholic and would leave the classroom every ten mins or so to get a drink and we'd just set fire to stuff

Years 10 & 11, 'cos thats when people started having proper house parties
Year 8 was probably the one where I had least to worry about year 11 was best socially probably but things weren't going so well for me at school that year, the head teacher tried to stop me going to the sixth form :nono:

Year 11 by far. It was the one year where I didn't feel like a complete socially inept mess. Our whole year group seemed to become a lot more friendly with each other too, so there was like no animosity between anyone, which was really nice. Study leave was amazing too. I had so much fun.
Year 12 has already surpassed Year 11 though in it's greatness. I've made so many more friends and the whole change you get with the teachers/school from entering sixth form has made it amazing too. So the current year I'm in is my favourite really.

This is weird for me because we don't have 'Year 7' we just have Year 8 onwards so we're like a year ahead or something.
I voted Year 10, last year - it was the last year I was together with my class before we all got split up so it was awesome, we didn't have GCSEs or anything to prepare for, alot of the class clowns were leaving so they decided to go out with a bang and it was quality, just awesome moments coming up towards Summer.

Year 11. Summer of 1999 to the summer of 2000 was an amazing year at school. Being the final year we were all excited by that. We saw in the millennium and were at the age where our parents allowed house parties with alcohol so we were able to get drunk for the millennium celebrations without adults watching over us. Plus the weather for the whole year was pretty good, especially from Sep - Oct '99 and April - July 2000. We were the Class of 2000, I nice round year to be.

Year 7 - Was starting out, a little bit scared, and made my best friend that I still have to do this day (or rather one of them but yeah). We were quite an infamous tutor group, the name "7B" was pretty badly talked about... although lessons where we threw chairs at each other, smoked pot and bit each other probably didn't help (not me though, I was a good boy )... it was a funny year, but not that great. Also went to France at the end of the year which was pretty decent... I was in a room with 4 guys I didn't really know that well and we sort-of became pretty good friends.
Year 8 - Really can't remember much from this. Didn't have a school trip (well we had camping but I had a diva strop and refused to go).
Year 9 - Best year of my life. Made the group of friends that I still have today, and our new tutorial group was amazing... we got away with soooo many pranks. And then there was the school trip to Cologne, Germany. That week... omg  We played football, like 100 of us, in this city park, and went to a water theme park. And we terrorised this poor cleaning lady who worked for the youth hostel we were staying in - we kept putting her trolley in the elevator and stealing toilet roll, and I remember not letting her in and shouting random German phrases through the door. We got told off :( but yeah... that summer was the best I've ever had... especially considering I met all the guys I'm really close friends to now.
Year 10 - pretty boring really, not much stands out, and lessons got suddenly harder.
Year 11 - Prom. Leavers. That summer was amazing, we all started drinking and partying and camping at the beach and everything... made a few good friends outside of school too (I went to an all-boys school and this was the first year we could sit on the paddock which was shared with the all-girls school).
