Choosing University?

I know some on here go/have gone to university, so how did you choose?

I have been looking on websites today and oh god it is all so confusing. I have no idea what to pick.

I will force myself to get at least AAAB in my AS's so I am aiming quite high on the league tables (top 20) when it comes to uni but I just can't decide.
I like the idea of London because I love the area and I am familiar with it but I am not sure about it because I may feel like an incredibly timid small fish in a large pond.
I was also pondering the thought of going international but then I would have to start all over again somewhere new, which could be a good thing but then again it could also not. And I haven't really thought about any of this until now so I haven't been going to any of my schools overseas uni talks and stuff so I may have ruled that out for myself due to social anxiousness.

Any tips from anyone?

I loved the city, the school had a great reputation being the best in the UK for my course.

Go visit the uni/town/city.. if you feel like it's right then that's where you should go.

I picked Bath Spa on the basis of realism (I didn't have amazing grades), the city being lovely and knowing a couple of people in the area. The university campus is really pretty too, and although a lot of the people here annoy me with the whole "banter" thing I think you get that at pretty much every University. Just pick the ones that look the nicest and offer courses that interest you, don't feel pressured to go to the top ones because chances are you won't enjoy it as much.

my daughter just heard back from lancaster and nottingham she did AS last year, dont worry charlie it may seem a world away but everyone will be in the same boat. :)

I chose my uni based on the course. Funnily enough I was originally planning to go where Shaun currently is :p

I just looked around for the best ranked Uni's for the course I wanted to do, then did a bit more research on the realistic targets, looking at the course profile and stuff on their websites and then just go on a few open days

Should have put more thought into mine really, I left everything late and did it in a hurry

What are you aiming to study? The location is an important factor, but so is making sure the course style suits you. You don't want to end up at a university that you love but end up dropping out because you hate the degree.

God, I just realised how much I miss university. All my uni friends are scattered around the world now. We'll never all be in one place again. :sad:
