Things like that couldn't possibly happen here though, I mean even if you're not properly dead to start off with you surely would be after the funeral home does all that embalming stuff before you're buried.

least they didn't bury her yet.

They dig up a lot of coffins from hundreds of years ago and there are scratch marks on the coffin from people who were buried when they weren't dead yet.

I think they do yeah, just to preserve the body and stop it from decomposing for the few days before it's buried

Nothing is totally impossible like that to happen here but it is as sure as we can be very unlikely, people are not cremated or buried for at least 3 to 4 days from dying, Lot's of tests are done to ensure death has occurred and also of course the embalming procedure is very extensive.
It doesn't say if rigor mortis had not set in as to that lady, that is also another sure sign that someone has died.

Absolutely scary though as you say kazanne, way back though people did get buried alive, it is where the term graveyard shift comes from, when some people were buried a string was place in the coffin and a bell attached outside the grave at ground level, someone was assigned then to be on duty at night particularly, so that the bell was heard should someone have been buried who was not dead and then woke up and pulled the string to alert.

Thankfully, with the checks and all the embalming process plus the lying in chapel of rests for days after death too, it would be as near impossible as it can be for someone to cremated or curied who was not dead.

Embalming is not done as standard, you have to request it specifically when ordering the funeral. I have already done my will and funeral plan and embalming is something I have specifically requested. No way do I want to be cremated, so embalming will ensure that I am actually dead when I'm buried! Ever since I read the Dennis Wheatley novel "The Ka of Gifford Hillary" I've been terrified of being buried alive.

ah right, I'm pretty sure nearly everyone here gets it done though
