And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

Nothing would make my spine tingle more than that when we sing our national anthem at the world cup..not something about our Queen

I don't mind God Save Our Queen, even though I don't really like the Royal Family it's nice and simple, wouldn't mind something more jolly like the French one though

'God Save the Queen' sames to make the players emotional (rugby)..I guess it's the pride in playing for their country

My serious suggestion though would have to be 'I Vow To Thee My Country'. I much prefer it God Save The Queen.

Great choice, I agree, this would be the best anthem definately.

I think the writer & performer for these suggestions should at least be British.

I don't think I Vow to Thee, My Country should be it, it's a little bit too patriotic

If there was ever a time and a place to be patriotic, it's surely in a National Anthem

It all seems a bit cringey though, going on about pledging "the service of my love", don't really like the idea of having a hymn either, something more upbeat that people can sing along to would be better
