Has anyone recently had quite a few vacant shops in their town, it has by me and all because of the recession or businesses moving on.

There is a few new businesses moving here and they're trying to claim it will make things better but this country is in the **** right now, it is getting worse everywhere.

Yeah, especially as people cannot afford to keep going to the big shopping places in the cities to shop as it is too expensive.

We have a new shopping arcade and most of the shops have moved there...so the 'old town' is like a ghost town...which is sad because the buildings looked beautiful before they were boarded

Not that I've noticed, but then we get loads of grockles and students here, so the town is always busy

the shops are a joke - how are we meant to get out of a recession if there is not money to bye into these shops - vicious circle.

Lots of our shops have been boarded up for years now and most of the ones that are still open are sunbeds and take away shops :bored:

It's very sad to see, you would think rather than be left empty Councils and Govt would take some steps to at least have something going on inthem until perhaps some buyers or other businesses showed interest.

haha yeah, it's a southern term that encapsulates tourists, out of towners and people that have holiday homes here
