The New York Times reports that Jimmy Ellis, frontman for disco group the Trammps, has died. He was 74, and passed away yesterday in Rock Hill, South Carolina from conditions related to Alzheimer's disease.

As a member of the Trammps, Ellis scored 70s hits with "The Night the Lights Went Out", "Where the Happy People Go", and their cover of Judy Garland's "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart". But his most well-known vocal performance came with the band's 1976 single "Disco Inferno", which became a smash after being featured on the incredibly successful soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever.
