why does everyone hate the police so much?

cause they're only trying to make sure the country doesn't descend into chaos! What a bunch of horrible losers
serious - I don't really see alot of hate apart from chavs, 'gangs'...basically the people who break the law. Police had alot of support during the riots all over the internet.
They don't make the law they just enforce it, it's not their fault

I think most of the police force in England are decent, you will get dickish officers, but just be glad he doesn't have a gun like an American one.
..I guess it depends on whether you're a good or a bad guy

they get soo much ****
I like them, I have so much respect for them
I was talking to my driving instructor today (he's also a police officer) and he said it always goes in circles. People either hate the police, nurses/doctors or teachers
I like all of those professions. they work so hard.
I've only had one experience with the police and they were absolutely brilliant, they caught the guy who assaulted me, were really kind and I have nothing but good things to say about them, really puzzles me when people moan about them

I don't have a problem with Docs or Teachers.

They're human. There's going to be excellent ones, there's going to be pricks. They're going to make mistakes and good decisions. Noone reports 'good decisions' in the press.

..I think a lot of people work hard, whatever they do..and some don't. There are great police officers, doctors, teachers... and they would probably be good whatever they did...there are not so good ones too..I think it's to do with the person..not the job

I have a lot of respect for the police, everything they do is scrutinised to the nth degree. To be fair the police today compared to 20-30 years ago are worlds apart in terms of education and training.

there's a minority that are dickhead-ish and ruin it for the good cops and like shaun said none of the good ones get reported only the bad ones

Most of them are fine, incidents like the Mark Duggan shooting and the frequency of carrying out stop and searches haven't helped their reputation though. I also don't think it's the case that people just hate them for the sake of it, the Police also have to make an effort to improve relations with some communities

LOL Firstly - The Police in England are ******ing soft bellends just from what I seen in those riots last year - I mean the fact it was made SUCH A BIG DEAL for them to use a water cannon, is laughable.
Anyway,
The reason the police are hated here, is because the majority of them are Protestant - so when 'trouble' breaks out - they tend to be biased bastards and take the opposite side.
It's much more of a stereotype tbh, one that I believed up until recently when I was involved with the police myself and they seemed to be lovely blokes, really easy going and chilled.

I've only ever had positive experiences with the police and on the couple of occasions when I've really needed them I can't think how they could have done a better job.

Their piorities seem a bit f'd up from time to time. I also think a few act cocky and just like to show their authority. Nonetheless they do a good job on a whole.
What annoys me more is when people try and get them involved for petty things that they can easily sort out themselves, can remember climbing over someones fence to get my a ball back when i was about 16 and they the bastards tried to call the police and say i was trespassing
I don't have a problem with the police at all. I respect them and actually almost joined them at one point.

power corrupts. simple as that. Give someone some authority and more often than not it goes to their head.
That being said i'm sure police have a VERY tough job, no way in hell i'd ever wanna do it. It must be a nightmare.
I'd rather join the army than join the police.

I hate them. They abide by rules which do not take into account back stories/the circumstance and they have power over a citizen even though they are exactly the same as everyone else. I strongly dislike them.

Yes..there's definately that aspect to it Charlie...but it's down to the person to not abuse that power...some do..some don't. I guess the thing is, if anyone has had an experience with one who has abused it...it's difficult to not have that affect their judgement of the police in general..and therefore don't 'see' the good ones

I would quite like to be a Community Police Officer..visiting schools and helping residents etc.....but I couldn't be an active officer..attending road traffic accidents
They do have a tough job
