I love sketching and painting mainly fashion designs as that is kind of my part time job/ hobby, but I have done a few portraits for friends for a bob or two.

Yes I draw and paint ,I love sketching and doing watercolours,I also like to use very fine felt tips,gives a great result.Dont like using PC at all for drawing,This is one of the felt tip pics(sorry,cant do spoilers)

No,Ammi ,I dont show them,I do send or give them to some of the people who they depict,I always keep a copy for myself,I always get positive feedback,but they're not going to say they are crap,are they?,lol,I have a nice letter from Harrison Ford and his autograph(that sketch on here is not the one i sent him)I got several pics and autographs from Kevin Costner,also stuff from David Duchovny,Richard Marx,Boy George,Robson Green,Glen Campbell,Matt Cardle(he was really nice ),Midge Ure he also drew a picture of himself for me,LOL,he was so nice too and loved his pic,Michael Jackson signed my 'Thriller' album,I am so proud of that one and,of couse Gerard Butler,I gave him his at the premier of POTO in London(God he is a fitty) sorry i digress,lol,so got his autograph and nice photos of him.I will scan some of them off and post them.The only one I didn't get a response from was Madonna! the swine,lol.

Lovely Jonnii,I don't use coloured pencils much,but might just try again after seeing your pics,they are really stunning,mine never look like that,It's great to get outside in this weather and just draw or paint,it's so relaxing,i don't get too much chance at the moment with small children to see to,but I get that drawing bug sometimes and love it when i can do it.

Cheers Kazanne, I only started doing pencil portrait sketching again recently, was inspired by this thread actually...usually I only do pen sketching for fashion design and they are on A3 storyboards so too big to scan

I like your watercolours, I'm not good at painting...I always cheat and use Caran d'ache water soluble colour pencils and then wipe over with a wet paintbrush.. Do you use oils on canvas at all?

♥ I like it a lot LemonJam and you're right it's much harder to draw when the photo doesn't have a lot of definition, I always try and exaggerate the darker areas with heavy shading...but it's mostly just guesswork...

I just attempted Pete Doherty but I'm not too happy with it, don't think I got it quite right. It was in his younger days but he still looks too fresh faced for my liking...any suggestions?

Cheers ...yeah..I tried heavier shading but it still don't look quite right, I think I got the features a little wrong. I think it's a lot easier drawing people with real distintive features.
