Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has undergone surgery, just weeks after declaring he was in remission from liver cancer.

The singer is now in hospital recovering after his operation on Sunday.

It is thought the singer is suffering from an intestinal condition, but reports about the cause of his hospital spell remain unconfirmed.

He was due to sing at the Royal Philharmonic's premiere performance of The Titanic Requiem in London on April 10, but has been forced to pull out all public appearances.

An spokesperson for the star has said: "On Sunday 25 March, Robin Gibb underwent further intestinal surgery.

"He is currently recovering in hospital and therefore, for the time being, all existing commitments prior to the Titanic Requiem concert, have had to be cancelled."

Last month the star told The Mirror he felt "fantastic" after his recovery.

"'I am beating cancer and can't wait to carry on with my work," he said

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has woken from a coma after more than a week and begun to show signs of recovery.

Spokesman Doug Wright said he was able to nod and communicate with his family who have held a constant vigil at his beside in a central London hospital.

The 62-year-old fell into a coma after contracting pneumonia in his battle against colon and liver cancer.

Gibb's wife Dwina has revealed he cried when she played him Roy Orbison's 1962 song Crying.

Fellow Bee Gees star Barry Gibb had also been singing to his brother to try to rouse him.

Dwina Gibb told her local paper The Impartial Reporter, based in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland their children Robin John, Spencer and Melissa have been playing him music to "try and bring him back to us".
Facebook tributes

She said thousands of people have been saying prayers for him every day, and thanked his fans for their support.

In February Gibb said he had made a "spectacular" recovery from cancer but was later back in hospital for surgery.

Gibb was too ill to attend last week's premiere of his latest work The Titanic Requiem, a classical piece composed with his son to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking.

He was due to sing Don't Cry Alone in person at Central Hall Westminster in London.

The singer's website is down because of traffic volumes, with fans directed to his Facebook page, where messages of support can be left.

The British-born singer had surgery on his bowel 18 months ago for an unrelated condition, but a tumour was discovered and he was diagnosed with cancer of the colon and later of the liver.

It had been thought his cancer was in remission as early as last month.

It's incredible how many amazing songs they wrote... there's a list on Wikipedia and this is just the ones that weren't even performed by them:

Songs written by the Gibbs, but largely better known through versions by other artists, include:

"Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You" by Teri DeSario
"Buried Treasure" by Kenny Rogers (backing vocals The Gatlin Brothers)
"Chain Reaction" by Diana Ross
"Come on Over" by Olivia Newton-John
"Emotion" by Samantha Sang and by Destiny's Child
"Gilbert Green" by Gerry Marsden
"Grease" by Frankie Valli
"Guilty" and "Woman in Love" by Barbra Streisand
"Heartbreaker" & "All the Love in the World" by Dionne Warwick
"Hold On to My Love" by Jimmy Ruffin
"I Will Be There" by Tina Turner
"If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman
"Immortality" by Celine Dion
"Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton
"Morning of My Life" by Abi and Esther Ofarim and by Mary Hopkin
"Only One Woman" by The Marbles
"Rest Your Love on Me" by Conway Twitty
"Sacred Trust" by One True Voice
"Warm Ride" by Graham Bonnet and by Rare Earth

maybe not Sacred Trust so much but :o

D'you know, I never realised Maurice and Robin were twins. What a shame.. he had such a long battle with cancer as well - I imagine it must have gotten to the point where he would have gotten sick of being so ill all the time.. poor man :(

LOL... Just you.

Whoops!

I'm not a fan of faux grief. I didn't know him, and I wasn't particularly a fan. It's sad for his family, but we all have to go sometime. As Eddie Izzards father said to Eddie, when discussing the two princes left behind after the original grief whisperer, Princess Diana, died.

"My mother died when I was young, and no one gave a ****."

I'm sorry, at least he's having "Too much heaven" right about now. If he was a Muslim, he'd also be getting plenty of "Fanny."

Barry Gibb has released a moving video montage in tribute to his late brother Robin.

Robin Gibb died on Sunday after a long battle with colon and liver cancer.

His older brother Barry uploaded the video on his official YouTube page, which features several clips of Robin, to the soundtrack of Bee Gees song 'Heart Like Mine'.

The video is titled 'Bodding', in relation to Robin Gibb's nickname. The track featured on their 1993 album Size Isn't Everything.

Barry Gibb is the last surviving member of the Gibb siblings, after Maurice died in 2003, and youngest brother Andy passed away in 1988.

Robin Gibb's funeral will take place in Thame, Oxfordshire, while a memorial service is reportedly being planned at St Paul's Cathedral.

Earlier today, Beyoncé paid tribute to the late singer, stating that the Bee Gees were a huge influence on her career.
