A nice light hearted thread to start the day :joker:

A 2.5 tonne elephant broke loose from its handlers during a parade in Blackpool, Cork.

Video taken by a witness shows the animal loose in a car park near a busy shopping centre as members of Courtney's Circus tried to restrain her.

The 40-year-old Indian elephant, named Baby, then broke through a barrier before heading off towards the town

The circus had been parading all its elephants as part of a promotional stunt.

Fortunately the animal was captured shortly after - with no damage done and no injuries.

That shopping centre is 5 minutes away from where I work. Seriously though I can't even believe in our "civilised" society circus are still allowed to have performing elephants, it disgusts me tbh.

Same, surprised it's even legal and i am not surprised the Elephant escaped a dog could have got through that Jobberish small barrier

Crikey!

I don't want to sound too harsh but if you're going to keep a big powerful wild animal like that in captivity for a travelling circus you can't actually blame the Elephant when something like this happens
