Bit of a morbid thread, but yesterday I was talking to my friend and we somehow got around to pondering on whether it would be worse to drown or burn to death.
Which do you think would be worse?

omg Ben ! Well I find the idea of drowning horrifying so that really. Maybe with the other death you'd be unconscious with smoke inhalation and not know too much about it. Gruesome though :(

Drowning. I'd imagine burning to death would be so painful you wouldn't feel it long where as struggling to breath seems more drawn out and traumatic.

Both are my least ideal deaths.
But I panic at the thought of being underwater for 10 seconds, so to be trapped and have no signs of getting out thus losing all signs of oxygen would be horrific.

burning
thats physical pain, drowning..well I don't know, you just wouldn't be able to breathe, and would pass out after a while
Burning would take longer I think, and would be more painful, your body be completely burnt to a crisp as well. As far as ways of dying go, the thought of drowning doesn't seem that bad to me

Apparently, drowning is one of the best ways to die

If like your head was underwater and you were drowning, and the rest of you was on fire, that would be the worst.

I wonder if anybody has died that way.

Burning would be worse... I've said this before on another thread... my husband almost died while he was canoeing. The canoe turned upside down and got wedged under a rock. He told me that, after an initial panic, he just kind of accepted he was going to drown and it was really peaceful and calm.

Would have to be burning for me as I'm terrified of fire - water doesn't bother me half as much but not sure I'd want to give drowning a go though thanks all the same!!

I've heard drowning is peaceful. Dunno how, but that's what I've heard.
Burning would be horrible, so painful and it would take ages to die.

I've read something along those lines, although I'm not sure how anyone would know.
As soon as your lungs filled with liquid, your brain would pass out from lack of oxygen, so it would have to be better than being melted from the outside in.

Burning imo, although my worst death is being in an operating room and your having all your organs pulled out.

I would imagine they are both horrible ways to go, but burning to death must be an extremely frightening and painful way to die, especially if you were trapped and knew the inevitable was going to happen.

it'd have to burn through your skin flesh and bone, skull, brain, before you died, it would be terrible

Both sound tragic although I too have heard that drowning is peaceful after the initial struggle :S
Burning would be horrendously painful, so that.
Burning definitely... I'm **** scared of fire and I can't even imagine what the initial pain would be like. Drowning would be pretty quick and painless I reckon.

Burning for the sheer pain factor.
Err, what an awful decision...but...probably drowning for me. It's a close one though

Burning definitely. You pass out after a while drowning from irregular breathing and holding breath etc, burning would be just agony.

But how does anyone really know,it's bad enough holding your breath for a long time,so not sure I'de fancy it,lol, however burning would be intense but quick as the nerve endings burn and sensation is lost,I KNOW how I would like to pop my cloggs but can't say on the forum :evilgrin:
