And then got it back :S Was really weird, glad I got it back though. I don't envy anyone who can't taste things, it's awful. Anyone else ever had this happen?

Never had it.
Do you know why you lost it? Have you got a cold or anything?
I'd definitely be a lot healthier if I couldn't taste things. It would be horrible though.

I thought I lost my sense of taste tonight, but I suspect it was just the crap supermarket pizza I had for tea...
I do lose my sense of taste when I have a cold tho and it's horrible. My friend lost his sense of smell and i think that affected his taste as well, he never really enjoyed food after that and just ate to survive...he also got really paranoid about smelling bad and not knowing it, so he washed three or four times a day and was always putting on loads of deodorant and aftershave, i felt really sorry for him

Aw, its awful when you have tonsillitus or hay fever things taste yuk. If you are in good health though it might be worth getting it checked out with your GP.

Zinc deficiency can cause you to lose your sense of taste. Do you have white spots on your nails?

Yea I had a really bad cold for a week and could barely taste anything. Eating was not even worth it.

Have some blood tests, there must be a reason for a deficiency inone.

D: I'll just wait until I collapse or something. Bloods and stuff seem like effort

A few times when I've been hit with the flu (where all sense of taste/smell is non existent). Apart from the obvious lack of appetite anyway - it does make you realise how important 'taste' is to enable us to actually enjoy food.
Forcing something down you because you know you HAVE to but aren't able to enjoy or savour the taste - it's not fun and makes eating so unpleasurable.
