Ricahrd Harris by far
He was everything I imagined Dumbledore to be like before the film came out, lookswise, personality and how he talked..but obviously he would never be able to do some of the stuff in the later books
I don't like Gambon as dumbledore
If Ian Mckellen never did Gandalf he would of been perfect
Harris and Gambon play it so differently I don't think it was a very good choice but then again no one else would of done it

When I watch The Half Blood Prince I often wonder what it would of been like with Richard Harris. Dumbledore was fierce in that cave with the fire twirling shizz.
I choose Richard Harris. Like Nathan said, he was the Dumbledore I imagined from the book.

Didn't know there was more than one, I guess the one in my head is the first.

Richard Harris portrayed Dumbledore exactly how I pictured him when reading the books. I didn't really like Michael Gambon. He seemed a bit too angry at times. I could never imagine Dumbledore being angry.

I never even noticed they'd changed him originally  but yeah, I agree Richard Harris

Harris was more like the Dumbledore in the books, but Gambon was far better

:joker: I only realised that not so long ago too
Yeah Richard Harris died after the second one I think  he was perfect at the role

Richard harris fits how I imagine Dumbledore to look in the books...seems more...magical? Struggling for words to say what I mean...
However, I cannot imagine him doing the later films, such as HBP with all the dark scenes and that. Gambon was perfect for those :S

Harris reminds me of Santa. Dumbledore reminded me of Santa
Don't get me wrong, I loved Gambon, and thought he was better suited to the darker films, but yeah

The Original.
I loved him as a child - he just seemed magical and stuff, and like a protector of Hogwarts. He honestly seemed like a great guy who could do no wrong.
However, I think the latter one is great too - but he just seems alot more darker, and less welcoming than the original one.
He seems scary, but more like a Grandad to Harry than the original one would of been.
And I agree completely with what Glenn said - would of been interesting, I can't imagine seeing Richard Harrison in that scene though.
Both of them work great for their time, the original one was fantastic for the first two light hearted films and Gambon worked brilliantly for when the series changed direction.

LOL. Omg.

Darker films - Gambon was good and I can't even imagine Harris in the battle scenes. But Harris was exactly how you'd imagine Dumbledore being like when reading the books so I voted him

Come to think of it actually I don't think it would be too demanding for Richard Harris to stand there waving his arm around in scenes like the cave tbh. Just tragic that he died :(

Those scenes probably would've done him in

What, waving a stick around for about 10 minutes while CGI did most of the work? It's less effort than going for a walk outside your house for 10 minutes

Yes, I believe that would have done him in  it's hard to do, I've tried it and I required urgent medical help and bedrest for 2 days
didn't even know there was two actors who played Dumbledore until now

Micheal Gambon.
This is kind of a silly question though, because in the first two movies Dumbledore was a minor character. You never saw him do any major acting, so you can't really judge Richard Harris' performance as Dumbledore based on them imo.

Not really a silly question considering Harris is winning :idc:
