View Full Version : The Voice UK beats Britain's Got Talent in the ratings (Week 5)
Shocking ratings news - for the first time The Voice has beaten Britain's Got Talent!
The Voice added another half a million viewers (it's now up over a million from its first show), attracting an average of 9.54million viewers - while Got Talent had slightly less with 9.43million (excluding ITV1+1)
And in the twenty minutes they both clashed, The Voice had 10million viewers - 3.7million more than any other channel
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Cowell Towers this morning :o

It's doing so well, and deserves to.
Can't wait for Battle Rounds, it's going to really start kicking in.

Shocked at this. I'm actually enjoying BGT this time around because of the rapport between Simon and David, it's far more enjoyable.
I didn't like the format of the Voice, plus I really can't stand Will. i am. so that made me switch off and over. It just seemed one massive publicity plug all the time.
Simon's tweeted about it
A slightly irritated congrats to Danny [Cohen, controller of BBC One] and the BBC. But you didn’t have a dancing dog!

To be fair the Voice is a refreshing show to look at. BGT is fun but it's nothing new.

BGT is getting pushed back now to avoid the clash, talk about walking off with their tail between their legs :joker:
They're wise to notice the competition.

It won again :amazed:
Saturday's final blind auditions were seen by 10.68m (45.5%) between 7pm and 8.20pm, attracting a huge peak of 12m (45.7%) in the final 15 minutes.
Britain's Got Talent pulled in 10.04m (39.5%) between 8pm and 9.15pm, peaking with 11.3m (44.7%) and adding 541k (2.3%) on ITV1 +1.
So it's gone up another million in just one week :amazed:
Also should be noted that in the twenty minutes both shows clashed, The Voice averaged 11.8million, more than DOUBLE BGT's 5.8million. I know The Voice has an advantage by being on first, but it must be painful for Cowell that the gap is as wide as 6million viewers.
The Voice's success has been nothing short of unprecedented - so pleased for it :D

:dance:Great news.
Hopefully Mr cowell will realise that despite the scripted responses, the obvious journeys and the laughable dross, he needs to throw some quality at the viewing public.

This, why can't people just be satisfied with watching whatever show they want to. Luckily they won't clash anymore starting from next week.
I am glad that TV is doing well, although i've not watched and watch a bit too much shows as it is:joker:.

Yay <3.
Bit disappointing that my favourites didn't even make battle rounds, but there is enough talent for me to get over it :amazed:

I still like both but the Voice is fresh and new and I have really enjoyed it, it will be interesting to see how it goes now the auditions are over.
I am fairly pleased at Simon back on BGT but I cannot be bothered with his stopping an act just as they start singing, saying, he has heard such and such song so many times, what else have they got, just let them do the one they first chose to do and let the show flow for goodness sake.
He gets plenty of time to speak afterwards.
Yes yes yes! :amazed: Brilliant news. I'm glad The Voice is doing so well, it's an absolutely amazing show and it's good to see something so refreshing after so many years of all the same formats being churned out time and time again.
I think the fact that it has ONLY good people is a good selling point for it, people get bored of the idiots and the 'funny' people who can't sing

I'm pleased for The Voice but sad for BGT.
I don't think ITV have done themselves any favours from the very start. If you ask me, if both shows hadn't have clashed from the start (as they won't do from next week), I don't think BGT's ratings would have fallen behind The Voice's, at least this early. But having them clash has just led to this...why on earth they ever thought that people (excluding me, cause I do) would switch over after watching a show for a whole hour is beyond me.
Glad they won't be clashing next week...just hope it stays like that.

and he'll a problem with the voice stateside as well.
The next season is this fall and it's supposed to be in the same timeslot as X Factor that's on another channel
I'm pissed because I like both shows :(
Another win for The Voice this week - 9.89million to BGT's 9.52million (although it attracted an extra 489k on ITV1+1)
The Voice also had a much higher peak audience of 11.6million - BGT had 10.6million

Surprised they've dipped below 10m each...wasn't expecting that, in fact I was expecting a 12m average for The Voice. Odd.

Alot of people watch them later I imagine.
I watch the BGT videos on Youtube and catch the parts of the Voice which I missed on iPlayer after.
It should take into account YouTube hits too

I record to watch both the Voice and BGT and on both shows I spend most of the time using fast forward to skip the trash performers that comes with both shows....
The voice being new has a novelty factor which I think will soon wear off after a couple of series......My wish my dearest dearest wish is that the trashy garbage called the "X" factor is scrapped ASAP........
10.09million for The Voice last night, peaking at 11.3!

I've given up on BGT, it's a bit sh*t really

According to 'This Morning' BGT has increased it's ratings from last year, which is all that matters ,watched The Voice once and hated it,and I see they are in murkey waters already! it's BGT for me.
I see they are in murkey waters already!
How exactly?
Some iPlayer figures: Saturday's Battle Round episode has broken the BBC iPlayer record for the most views in a single day with 764,000 requests. Adding that to the 9.89million who tuned in live, it's now been watched by 10.65million viewers
BGT beat the Voice this weekend:
Britain's Got Talent last night (Saturday, April 28) climbed to an audience of nearly 10.2 million with +1 figures included, according to the latest overnight data.
Simon Cowell's ITV talent show was watched by 9.67m (41.8%) between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, adding 489k (2.3%) on ITV1 +1.
As the end of the show drew near, a peak of 10.7m watched 9-year-old Malakai Paul's emotional audition. Britain's Got More Talent then grabbed a series high of 1.07m (4.9%) from 9.30pm (+1: 239k).
BBC One's The Voice UK logged a massive 9.33m (41.8%), peaking with 10.3m, but lost viewers for the second Saturday in a row.
However, it seems The Voice was hampered by questionable early evening scheduling from the BBC, as an old edition of My Family gave the singing contest only a 2.8m (14.7%) lead-in, while Pointless Celebrities took 3.97m (22.6%) from 5.35pm.

Surprised it would lose viewers when it's the first live show

It's a reoccuring theme for shows like this.
It was going to happen, they lose the gimmick after blind auditions and battle rounds, it is now essentially 'X Factor' but with better song choices and more coaching.

8.6m for the results show, though Digital Spy are saying it was 'easily the most watched show last night'.

To be honest i'm not surprised at the ratings drop. I liked the auditions but I really didn't like the battles and I found the first live show on saturday pretty boring. That being said, i'm surprised BGT ratings are improving because I find that even worse these days with its endless amounts of dance acts and child singers. It almost feels like a chore getting through it till the end.

The Voice down to 8.16m last night.
Meanwhile, The Voice UK anchored BBC One's night with 8.16m (35.6%) between 7.10pm and 8.45pm, losing momentum over its ITV rival but still performing strongly

Still a lot of viewers but it's down a lot from the auditions and it's losing a fair amount of viewers each week...
