Are republicans like our conservatives?

Sort of. They make our conservatives look sane. The racism pours out of these people.

The Conservatives are a lot more moderate than Republicans. Whereas the Conservatives are fiscally conservative but socially moderate, the Republicans are fiscally and socially conservative.

It's a myth that republicans are fiscally conservative. They are only concerned about spending when Democrats are in charge, and are only concerned with giving tax breaks to the wealthiest people., and increasing defence spending

They are smoke and mirrors, there is no honest conservatism, it is flat out Robin Hood in reverse.

He pulled out because his daughter is dying. Don't like him, but wish him luck in that case

Our Conservatives are probably more like the Democrats now, a lot different to when Thatcher and Reagan were very close ideologically

Romney was going to get the nomination anyway by now but I suppose this seals it, listening to and reading about some of his views I find it hard to see how he's had the success he's had, I guess he appeals a lot more to the grassroots of the party than Romney does. Sad about his daughter though

His daughter has been terminally ill for a long term but he maintained that he placed his trust in god. Whilst my sympathies are with his family, the actual reason is because Romney will spend a fortune in Santorums home state of Pennsylvania and beat him. Even conservative commentators believe that would be impossible to come back from, politically.

Sadly, you're correct. Obama has implemented conservative policies, it's just that the right has moved so far to the right, that they call him a socialist.

Is a shame cuz many think Obama is very beatable in the autumn but unfortunately the Republican dont have anyone who can beat him. To galvanize the republican base Romney is going to have to go so far to the right that he will become unelectable.

America is one of the few countries in the world where the only political options are centre right and far right.

Don't be too sure. This race isn't over by a long stretch. I think Obama will win, but only by 3/4 points. The republicans will be flat out lying about Obama this campaign. Mitt Romney does it all the time already, and they will be running on a platform of fear. If Democrats think this is in the bag, they will be kicked out of office.

I agree. Its gonna get ugly. It always does.

I think Obama is way to sharp to get sucked into a mud slinging match, hence my comment that Romney would have to become unelectable.

One thing Obama has in his favour is the Bin Laden hit. Reps will want to call him soft on terror, but he has that ace uphis sleeve.

Its gonna be fascinating. American general elections are always so much more entertaining than ours.
