A UK group is urging the public to hold street parties to protest at the austerity measures and the undermining of public services. As opposed to the 'celebration' of the diamond jubilee.

''We want people to stand up and demand that we keep our public services, our rights and our welfare system and to celebrate a new future that isn't dictated to us by a handful of millionaires but decided by us all – together," said Anna Walker of UK Uncut.

I really wish our street would have a party for the diamond jubilee with mirrorballs, glitter, silver tinsel and crystals everywhere...I ♥ sparkles. The anti-cuts one doesn't sound as fun...would it involve blunt knives
