View Full Version : The Voice pushes John Legend up the charts (#3 Official Midweeks)
Here's more proof of how successful The Voice has become - after it was performed by Jaz and Becky on last night's show, John Legend's Ordinary People has climbed to #2 on the iTunes singles chart, leapfrogging Fun's 'We Are Young'. It previously peaked at #27 in the Official Chart in 2005.
His album 'Get Lifted' has also surged up to #4, having previously peaked at #13.

Get that away from here now
Got to 27 in the 4 hours between the Voice ending and the chart deadline, and already up to number 2 today, pretty impressive

This is great news.
Update: Less than a day since The Voice was broadcast, Ordinary People has sold enough copies to propel it to #27 in this week's Official Chart, equalling its previous peak :o

I knew this would happen. I love the voice. I think I even prefer it to the x factor and thats coming from a huge fan of x factor. The voice is a brilliant show with amazing talent on it. Much better talent than any other show similar. All of the judges I love. First audition show tom won me over. Second audition show Jessie won me over. Third Danny won me over. And the fourth I think everyone kind of fell in love with will.i.am. I think it was clear how passionate he was about that song and the fact he cried at the end. And actually listening to the lyrics properly I got very emotional. And its such a great song that deserves to chart better than it originally did so Im glad.

I laughed when Jessie said the other girl done it slightly better than the original.

Ordinary People was one of those songs that I never really heard/cared about, that is until The Voice and I love it, can't believe I really didn't notice it the first time around.
#3 in the official midweeks!

No. 4 in the official charts this week.
There are a lot of songs in the Top 100 singles that have sales influenced from TV shows/adverts. I always find it interesting. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield and Phil Oakey/Giorgio Moroder are just a few this week.
