Thrown his career away there, he'd been having a pretty good season as well
Can't believe he has threw his life away like this, what possessed him to do something like that.. he's a pro footballer and he has the money he can go out and have sex with plenty of girls whenever he wants.. but he'd rather rape someone? weird.

He will deserve the hard time he gets now, wasted his Football career away, although most of all I feel sorry for his poor victim:(.

Is it confirmed that it was actually rape? If so, what an utter bellend. Wasting away your whole life. Also, I'm sure the sentence would have been doubled if he wasn't a football player.

Seems strange that he was convicted but Clayton McDonald was cleared when they were both sleeping with her in the same room?
Yeah seems odd, you'd think he was guilty too?

I don't condone what happened, although Lee Hughes is still playing Football and he killed someone in a car crash, then you have Marlon King who was found guilty of sexual assault, so where is the justice in that?

Doesn't add up. One guilty, the other not; despite being in there in the same bed?

Yeah seems odd, you'd think he was guilty too?
Maybe there wasn't enough concrete evidence to prove that he was involved or he genuinely did not rape her too?
Perhaps it happened after he has sexual relations with her?

Perhaps it happened after he has sexual relations with her?
Or she consented to sex with him and not with Ched Evans?

I guess that's what happened, according to the BBC article
During the trial, the jury saw video interviews in which the woman, now 20, said she could not remember what happened and feared her drinks were spiked.
She could not remember travelling to the hotel, but woke up in a double bed.
"My clothes were scattered around on the floor," she said.
"I just didn't know how I got there, if I had gone there with anyone. I was confused and dazed."
The court heard that Evans, whose mother lives in Rhyl, had invited Mr McDonald and others for a bank holiday night out in the seaside town on 29 May.
Because there was not enough space at Evans' mother's house, he booked Mr McDonald in to the hotel.
The court heard that Mr McDonald met the woman and took her back to the hotel room, sending a text to Evans stating he had "got a bird".
During Evans' evidence, he told the jury he had gone to the hotel, let himself in to Mr McDonald's room and watched his friend and the woman having sex.
It was claimed Mr McDonald asked if his friend could "get involved", to which the woman said yes.
The prosecution claimed that while the attack happened, Jack Higgins, an "associate" of the footballers, and Ryan Roberts, Evans' brother, watched through a window.
But if she couldn't remember anything I dunno how they could be sure she consented for one of them and not the other

Or she consented to sex with him and not with Ched Evans?
Well, it says that they were both accused of raping her
here's an updated bit :
The jury had been told that after seeing the "dangerously intoxicated" woman fall over in kebab shop in Rhyl, McDonald got into a taxi with her to a Premier Inn hotel.
The alleged victim claimed she could not remember the events that followed but recollected waking up naked, alone and confused some hours later.

Sounds to me like there isn't really any evidence since the woman can't remember anything.
Can remember when he was one of the big prospects when he was at Man City, used to be a beast on Football Manager

Cases like this should hopefully teach both men and women, especially when you go on nights out to be aware of what you are doing.
Although you have some women who have lied about being raped and it is not fair on the genuine victims of rape either because it makes them think they won't be believed after...

Hold up here...she consented to someone else getting involved while she was being raped?
Sounds dodgy as **** :/

Basically she got passed around by the mandem. Didn't have a problem with it but regretted it the next morning.
Either there's elements of the case missing in the media reports or the jury's decision is highly suspect or I've missed something - 2 men shag a drunken girl - they both get charged with rape - the first in gets acquitted, while the second is found guilty ..... :conf:

The footballer Ched Evans is to have his rape conviction reviewed by the Court of Appeal.
The Wales football international was jailed for five years in 2012 after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman at a hotel near Rhyl.
Evans, 26, was released last year after serving half of his sentence.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission referred the conviction after his lawyers lodged fresh evidence.
The former Sheffield United footballer has always maintained his innocence but his attempts to restart his career with Oldham Athletic and his former club collapsed in the face of a public outcry.

You don't think rapists should be convicted?
I believe the issue with this particular case is whether what he did should be considered rape or not

Well.
Footballer Ched Evans has had his conviction for rape quashed at the Court of Appeal in London, but will face a new trial.
The ex-Wales international was jailed in 2012 for raping a 19-year-old at a Premier Inn near Rhyl, Denbighshire.
The former Sheffield United, Manchester City and Norwich player was released from jail in October 2014 after serving half of his five-year term.
Mr Evans, 27, has always denied raping the woman.
Speaking outside court Mr Evans's solicitor Shaun Draycott said: "Ched Evans is extremely grateful that the court of appeal has ruled that his conviction for rape was unsafe and should be quashed."
The striker's case was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), which investigates possible miscarriages of justice in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, after new evidence emerged.
Lady Justice Hallett, Mr Justice Flaux and Sir David Maddison heard submissions over two days from Kieran Vaughan QC, for Mr Evans, and from Eleanor Laws QC, for the Crown.
Announcing the court's decision, Lady Justice Hallett said the judges heard "fresh evidence" during the appeal hearing on 22 and 23 March.
She said: "In summary, we have concluded that we must allow the appeal and that it is in the interests of justice to order a retrial."
The court quashed Mr Evans's conviction and declared: "The appellant will be retried on the allegation of rape."
Mr Evans and former Port Vale player Clayton McDonald admitted having sex with the woman on 30 May 2011, but said it was consensual.
Mr McDonald was acquitted of rape at their trial at Caernarfon Crown Court.
Mr Evans has not been signed by a new club since his release from prison.

Maybe the CPC made a mistake and we're too quick to jump to conclusions from what the woman couldn't remember.

apparently there was evidence that wasn't allowed to be submitted in his first trial but they accepted this time?

If he was falsely convicted (which is a big if with his GF's rich Daddy being able to pay the courts off) then of course I feel sorry for him that he had his career destroyed.
However how many Celebrities or well known people have been guilty of committing a crime but always have a "mistake" in the investigation that has them be classed as innocent?
