A woman is found murdered in the middle of Oresund Bridge, exactly on the border between Sweden and Denmark. Saga Noren from Malmo CID and Martin Rohde from the Copenhagen police department are called to the scene. What at first looks like one murder turns out to be two. The bodies have been brutally cut off at the waist and joined together - the torso of a high-profile Swedish politician and the lower body of a Danish prostitute. The Swedish and Danish police need to cooperate in a race against the clock, desperately searching for a murderer determined to go beyond all moral limits to get his message across.
In Swedish and Danish with English subtitles.
For anyone missing their Killing fix, really  Two episodes a week, an hour long each.

I watched the first episode today, it wasn't bad but the main character is such a Lund wannabe.

I like this a lot. I'm not sure if I just have a thing for Swedish women with Asperger's though (Lisbeth Salander, now Saga Noren)...

This is excellent so far  although I now associate watching it with the smell of omelettes... since I made my first successful one whilst watching an episode.

the way Saga dealt with those 2 masked attackers in the hotel :worship:
her story, emotional responses and general badassery are making her one of TV's greatest characters already. Loving her connection with Martin this series, but I just hope the writers don't make him fall in love with her or whatever. That'd be so blah.

On episode 9 now...
I knew it was her creepy brother :fist:
I worry something's going to happen to Saga :( what with her bf moving out, and S1 having a horrible ending for Martin... I think maybe Raz or whatever his name is will rape her or something D: evil little ****

Old thread but I just watched the second series of The Bridge this past week and thought making a whole new thread was unnecessary. :hee:
The finale of series 2 was phenomenal. Gertrud being revealed as the true villain (I loved this because Oliver was so obvious and he hadn't been around as long so his reveal was underwhelming), and then tricking Viktoria into injecting herself with the virus. :o
Still, I thought they'd get to Viktoria in time and find some way to combat the virus, her actually dying came as a total shock. And then Pernille straight after.:shocked:
I was never massively satisfied with series 1's resolution since the killer was someone we only met in episode 7 (I do love Jens as a character though and really enjoyed his continuing series 2 appearances in prison), but series 2's ending was just brilliant.
Saga has become one of my very favourite TV characters, Sofia Helin is brilliant. Can't wait for series 3.

Series 3 starts tomorrow on BBC Four! No idea if anyone other than myself and Shaun plan on watching but I may as well bump this so I don't forget to inundate the thread with all of my thoughts and theories. :hee:
My first time watching at the same time as the BBC Four airing too. :flutter:

I fell behind on this after episode 1 but I watched three more episodes last night. Once again I'm absolutely loving it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Saga Noren is one of my favourite characters on TV.
The mystery is really intriguing, some nice little swerves with the reveal of the second murder actually being committed by someone else and not the main killer. I just hope the killer ends up being someone I've seen within these 4 episodes I've watched so far and not someone who's introduced in like episode 7 as with Jens in series 1, that's something that tainted an otherwise brilliant series for me.

Got fully caught up on this last night.
Surprised by Hans dying, I assumed they'd have him pull through. </3
Poor Saga's really going through the emotional wringer, I guess it doesn't get much worse than your mother killing herself and framing you for her "murder" and then the closest thing to a real father figure dying. Sofia Helin is knocking it out of the park, too.
As for the case, I'm still not entirely convinced that Annika (or Annika alone) is the killer. I can't help but think it might be Claes and he's bumped Annika off. Or maybe it really is Emil and he's framing Annika. I also suspected Holst's wife Asa briefly too when she was talking to Henrik about female serial killers, that seemed odd, but then I remembered a scene of the killer watching her from the car so I don't think she's involved.
Only two episodes left now. If this is indeed the final series, I'm really gonna miss it. </3

I'm up to the same point you've put in spoilers now and I agree with most of that... not sure if you finished it but I've got two episodes left now
All I can say is: whoever the killer is, BRAVO for killing off the ****ing gambler. Absolute ARSE.
Knowing the show/shows like this it'll be someone relatively unknown and constantly in the background so I'll right now say my suspect is Holst's bodyguard, Colbert.

Got caught up on the current run last night. Can't believe there's one episode left and then it's all over :( I need Saga, Henrik and Lillian in my life for longer dammit
https://media1.tenor.com/images/135fcab20445d82ca21f5fc7bfeead10/tenor.gif?itemid=6149700 @ Jonas though
Very much enjoying it even though I'm struggling to keep up with all the characters and plot threads but that's par for the course with The Bridge isn't it
I really didn't see the Astrid reveal coming until the episode it happened where I started putting it together. Now I'm wondering if I'm being dense, if Henrik had earlier referred to one of his daughters as Astrid then of course it would have been clear the whole time but I couldn't recall his daughters names and I'm honestly not sure if he ever said them. If he did, yes I suppose I was dense :ninja2: I kept waiting to see how the village story would connect to the serial killer mystery (beyond the taxi driver abusive husband briefly being a suspect) so having it actually be part of the "Henrik's missing family" story was a great twist I thought.
And I loved the ending of the latest episode with Susanne now looking like the prime candidate for the killer. Likely another red herring but a really good ending nonetheless.
Quite a few unlikely coincidences to connect certain characters but it doesn't take me out of the story too much because I'm enjoying the mystery.

I just realised something when pondering how this might end. In series 1-3, the killer always offs someone close to the team near the end: Martin's son in series 1, Pernille in series 2, Hans in series 3.
This only registered because I was thinking about the killer's MO of killing loved ones of their actual targets. Now I'm thinking they'll go after Astrid and either Saga or Henrik will die protecting her. I'm leaning towards Henrik dying and Saga taking care of Astrid in his stead (which would be an ironic turn of events after she aborted her child to stay with Henrik)

I've watched it a few months ago. I'm surprised it just started in the UK.
The final episode is so sad, knowing that its the last we get from Saga.
The last scene was so deep and beautiful and a deserving closure to the story
Sofia Helin is such an amazing actress, she deserves an award for her role here :clap2:

Yes. I don't want to spoil it but both the case itself and the overall story of the series had a good ending (especially what I wrote in the spoiler in my post above). Even though this series was weaker than previous years, it's still great and one of the best tv shows ever imo. Listening to "Hollow Talk" for one last time in the end got me really emotional, as it always does.
It's a shame it gets less attention while many mediocre American shows get too much attention and are overrated in general.

I watched the final episode but forgot to come and post my thoughts. I really loved it though :clap1:
Case first. I was satisfied with Susanne and Kevin / Brian being the killers (Susanne being the creepy hospital clown had me shook). The scene where Brian held Astrid and Henrik hostage was genuinely tense, I really thought he'd killed Astrid when we heard the shot. I also liked how they revealed one killer first and then made it seem like the rest of the episode would be tying up Saga's story before the second reveal.
I also really liked how they tied in Saga's attempted murder at the start of the series to the case. At the time that seemed like an unnecessary shock value moment that went nowhere so I like how that paid off in the end. Also, is this the first time in The Bridge history that the killers were around since the first episode? :clap1: (one gripe I've had with the show in the past had been the killers usually being later introductions)
As for the conclusion to the series overall, I loved that too. Having it end with Saga on the titular bridge throwing her police badge into the water and answering the phone with just "Saga Noren" was perfect. I love that woman.
One last Martin appearance would have been cool, when Saga went to visit her old cell mate I actually thought she was visiting Martin at first
