Most people would like to try it out -it's new - I don't think it's anything unexpected tbh. It would be new, it would be fun and a novelty.

I'd loved to have had a go.... though I'd have hated to have worked within earshot of it... .hearing that all day would drive a perso off their heads.

I would take the stairs as well if they were piano keys

That's pretty cool.

Good idea, I'd take the stairs.........the first few times then when the novelty wore off I'd take the escalator :pipe:

It's cute, but like Niamh said, it would get old quickly.

If they really wanna get people to use the stairs, here's an idea, take out the escalator.

:joker: Just what I was thinking.

Can't argue with that - it's pretty accurate! :D

Haha, I remember taking the kids in lewis's department store, they had a piano floor in the toys section....The kids loved it, but the staff looked ready to kill! :joker:

It's not that they actually want people to stop using the escalator though, the piano stairs are just a temporary thing for this experiment to try and prove their "fun theory"

I'm not a great fan of escalators anyway, there is always someone who blocks your way and you cannot get past,on a long escalator it seems to take ages to get to the top then.
Often if that is the case then I charge up the stairs anyway.I also rarely use an escalator coming down.

That video looked like fun though.

The whole point of the escalator is that you don't have to move though, otherwise why not just use the stairs? :pipe:

I wonder what it'd sound like if someone fell down the stairs. They should have pushed someone....

That is true indeed but you do see signs on escalators saying please stand to the side and that is to allow others who may be in a hurry to get past, I find there is always someone who blocks the whole section so no one can get past.

I see loads of people passing others on escalators.escalators are of great assistance where there are a lot of stairs so climbing them would be tiring but the escalator can still be walked up even when moving rather than just standing waiting to get the top with no one else on it.

As I say, I don't like them anyway, I was once on one and a woman behind me with shopping had one of her bags split and loose potatoes rolled down the escalator and as I moved to avoid them I slipped on them and went rolling to the end of the escalator.I guess it would have been funny if someone had a phone camera/video on when that happened.:joker:

The first time I saw people standing to one side on escalators was when I was in the tube stations in London..........I thought it was hilarious never seen anything like it before
