I am all for the mother wanting to keep fit as that will have a good impact on her own body as well as being good for baby - but I can't quite get my head around the unecessary movement and bumping around for baby when mother is jogging?

Is going jogging whilst pregnant reckless / selfish to the unborn baby?

She should jog after she's had her baby to shift all that weight. Not now.. can't say whether it's selfish or not though.

I'm not sure tbh, it does look like it could be quite jarring, and I can imagine the baby sloshing around...on the other hand the swaying movement of a gentle jog could be quite soothing?

I don't know - I can understand the benefits: healthy, fit mother looking after her body will be very good for baby: but as you say Kizzy - it's the jarring that the baby will go through. I'm not sure if it would be soothing - I'm also thinking of Vicky saying that during her scan, when she coughed - she could baby 'jumping'......

Just 'something' about the jogging and the nature of that type of exercise that makes me wonder. I know nothing about the effects (good or bad)so I can't call this one at all.

Well I was told my my doc that if I did any excercise and that before I got pregnant, its fine to continue (with the exception of the obvious, such as weightlifting, contact sport and that) however to be careful when doing anything that could make me fall over...I would probably class jogging as that tbh, but apparently excercise isnt actually bad for the baby, so long as you dont suddenly take up jogging 2 hours a day when you never jogged before or something like that.

I was worried about stuff like this actually...I asked if it was still ok to have sex (felt very silly doing so but it had to be asked  ) and doc said it was fine...and that the baby would actually enjoy rocking movements and such D:

I would say during sex the baby would be jiggled around as much as during jogging, so by deduction, I would say jogging doesnt do any harm.

She had her baby
and went live on ITV1HD Daybreak this morning.
She ran passed a pub and got abuse.

She never ran if she had any pain.

A GP there said the Baby was well protected.

Amazing Fit Lady
Good Luck to her.

Baby is safe and protected
only contact sports are a danger.

It was a Jog
not running fast

its her choice it may carry a risk, but being pregnant carries a risk
on the other end of the scale are women that say they cant hoover the floor beacuse they are pregnant and sit around all day constantanly eating.

Women still do strenuous stuff during pregnancy, housework, looking after their other children, even having to lift them up etc; the jogging as long as done sensibly doesn't look that bad, plus babies are pretty much protected by the surrounding fluid from bumps and stuff. So all in all as long as she was sensible and did the jogging in moderation, can't see the harm in it.

What are the medical disadvantages?

For her a better birth
and before the Baby she did more sports
jogging does no harm as the baby is safe.

Those working class fools
that shouted at her - Are Lacking Proper Education

Contact Sports would be stupid, of course

actually it's selfless. Fat mother's being unhealthy is a big reason why children have so many health problems, including autism. being lazy and inactive and sedentary is selfish.

All doctors recommend that pregnant women get PLENTY of exercise.

there is absolutely no excuse for any woman to gain more than a stone during pregnancy.

Women use pregnancy as an excuse to be fat and lazy. (and to get a seat on the bus/train)

lol lifting their children is strenuous excersize?? are you joking???

wow, you are living in a dream world.

I lift my trash bags out to the dumpster, i guess that means i'm getting as much excersize as a mother. lol

exercise is a really hard word to spell btw. It sounds like it should have a "Z" in it.
