A real great video game moment, the issues presented are quite current too

GTA is so overrated, I was over it after Vice City. It's a sad day when a clone like Saint's Row out-GTA's GTA.

Patrick

Saint's Row is a complete fail and everyone prefers GTA, so how on earth does it out-do GTA? Even GTA IV, which was dull and boring is better than Saints Row. And the hype for GTA V is far bigger than what any other game in the industry could generate nowadays.

Call Of Duty, Halo etc are over rated games. Not GTA - we get like one of them every 4 years and the only reason it's so big is because it's the king of video games and changed the industry forever.

Saints Row The Third is hardly a GTA clone at this point, its evolved

The great moments in Saints Row: The Third alone eclipse just about every supposedly great GTA moment.

Halo: Combat Evolved had a bigger impact on games than GTA has had (and really, GTA3 is the only game you can compare in terms of impact, none of the others come even close). Call of Duty generates more hype, it's dominated video games for this generation, breaking the sales record each time with the past three games, and no doubt it'll do it again with BLOPS2 later this year, and a part from GTA3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare made a bigger impact than any game in the GTA series.

So really, you're a prime example of someone overrating the Grand Theft Auto series.

Just because the majority prefers GTA doesn't mean it's better, Date Movie and Epic Movie made a decent splash at the box office but that doesn't mean they were good films.

Saints Row had what's been missing from GTA for ages now, the fun and ridiculousness of it's earlier installments. I'd also disagree about GTAV being so hyped, I'd say the trailers for whichever Call of Duty is out this year and Resident Evil 6 were more anticipated. GTA is old hat these days and the elements that made it so good in the first place are common in other games. It's just....bleh.

Every FPS developer in the world went back to the drawing board the day Halo came out. It invented dozens of conventions we now take for granted in shooter games. I would put GTA III as equal in influence though. It changed everything and is easily still the biggest thing to happen to video games since Sony made the original PlayStation. The Wii and the opening up of a casual gamer market is probably up along with it but apples and oranges.

So I'm a fence sitter. GTA is not overrated but Patrick's myopic approach to video gaming is lame. He hasn't played as many games as he would like everyone to believe and probably has a hard time rating or wrapping his head around anything that is not a Rockstar product.

Kind of like a child with some kind of ... thing.

LA Noire 2 and i will be happy

I liked that game until I realised it consisted of doing the same tasks ad nauseam, I thought the story and the characters were exceptionally weak as well.

Phoenix Wright>

I was spoiled by Phoenix Wright I think, each case in those games are so absorbing and all the characters are interesting. I think I expected LA Noire to be like it but I ended up disappointed.

I reckon they'll be ported to the PC before long, I'd recommend them if they do. They're bizarre but excellent games.

Should be easy enough to run, the PW games aren't very graphically intensive. Not that I'm endorsing roms mind. [/Good Mod]

Uncharted has been the saving grace for the Adventure genre on the PS3 as Tomb Raider has lost alot of popularity and it hasn't released many Games in this generation.

But the greatest Video Game moment has to be at the beginning of Fahrenheit where Lucas Kane has killed a guy in the toilet cubicles, and you are wondering what made him do it and you have to cover up the murder to a certain extent aswell.

My favorite video gaming moment is probably spending the 40 minutes doing all the extra stuff in Wall Market to doll up real good and try and get Don Corneo to shag you.

To be fair, I'd put this down to the fact one trailer was released half a year ago and Rockstar havent said a word since

Heavy Rain is better, Fahrenheit starts out very interesting, but loses it near the end, Heavy Rain stays good all the way through

No what I mean is that it copies Fahrenheit only taking away the supernatural elements and replace it with better graphics.

Look im not saying Heavy Rain is a bad game but I don't think you can beat the original where it didn't need fancy graphics to make it standout.

Scarlett.
12-05-2012, 01:56 AM
Fancy graphics arent what made me prefer Heavy Rain, the whole story generally felt more complete and less rushed.

Fair enough but some Gamers only go by graphics which I find annoying.

That's true, I judge game more on their art style, such as this, you can see the graphics arent perfect, but work has gone into the animations and enviroment

Well that's what I think it should be judged on a little bit as you don't want the enviroments to look ****, I can cope with bad animation though but each to there own.

That game is from 2004 to be fair on it, so it doesnt look perfect, but it feels perfect.
