A Tennessee couple have welcomed their "miracle" baby, five hours after they found out they were going to be parents.

Amanda and Billy Prentice had been trying to conceive for four years, before a doctor told them about the good news.

However, the news only lasted five hours before Amanda Prentice gave birth to a baby girl.

Mrs Prentice began suffering from seizures a few days before giving birth, and was rushed to Vanderbilt Hospital. She was unconscious for two days, before she woke up to the news that her illness was brought on from her pregnancy.

However, she informed the doctor that she had no idea that she was pregnant, as she had not suffered from any symptoms.

"I never felt [the baby] move. I wore the same clothes that I had worn for two years," she told WSMV.

Allie McKinley Rose was born healthy and weighed at 5lbs, 5oz.

She added: "We had talked about adopting, and now we've got our miracle baby."

Aww, congratulations to them!

She must be really dumb.

Hows that D:

She said she didnt put weight on or feel the baby move.

I'm guessing she has no other symptoms either, and some people still get periods and that when pregnant too...

If there are absolutely no signs, how would you know you were pregnant?

Anyways, congrats to this lady and her partner :)

This is kinda similar to what happened to my friend, she felt pains in her stomach and thought she had eaten something dodgy, her son was born 25 minutes later on the bathroom floor, she was 18 at the time, never had any symptoms or any weight gain at all throughout the entire pregnancy.

what about the lack of periods, didn't she notice that? or maybe she was using some sort of birth control that stops periods?

Some (unlucky) women continue to have periods throughout their pregnancy.

Our bodies are odd things that dont always do as you expect

Sometimes I have watched that show when there isn't much else on the TV. Some on the show have had pregnancy tests when feeling slightly queasy but the tests came back negative, the doctor explaining that urine tests aren't as reliable as blood tests to determine a pregnancy

It isn't just some mothers who don't realise they are pregnant, because of lack of symptoms and very little weight gain, even family and friends of those, don't always guess or realise the pregnancy.

That's great news, but scary that that could happen to somebody, just creeping up on you like that. Either that or, yes what Claudia said. She's stupid. LOL

Wow, how scary is that?

I'd imagine she was happy in the end but what was her reaction at the time? Must've been gobsmacked.

Yeah she was in shock, she hadnt planned on having kids for few years so it took her a while getting used to it all but she would never change it now, I think the person that got the biggest shock was her dad though, he thought she was in the toilet with an upset stomach and he ended up delivering his grandson
