It's heavilly rumoured to be, I've heard two variations of it. One is that they'll drop the 'XIII' part and launch it as a spinoff that isn't connected to any of the games and the other is that it's gonna be rebranded as FFXV.

I could see either one happening tbh.

Scarlett.

They should just call it XV, it'd sell better that way.

Don't know about anyone else, but PS4 is pulling some pretty damned fine weight with their current presentations. I don't think the Xbox One will be able to touch something like this, or Kingdom Hearts III, replete with access to *so* many new worlds that Disney has purchased over the past few years. It's a forgone conclusion that this console will be a Christmas present for my kids that I will never let them touch. :joker:

Edit: Any one here going to E3 this year?

This looks like the FF fans have been waiting for, a darker story.

Noctis seems very different from Tidus, Vaan, Lightning and Serah, from what we've seen he seems kinda normal (as in, not super moody, but not super happy).

Tetsuya Nomura enjoys modern settings – if you couldn’t tell from the latest Final Fantasy XV trailers. This “fantasy based on reality” will enjoy many real world settings retuned for Noctis to explore.

But is the game perhaps too modern? NBC News had a chance to sit down with the director and quiz him on the various aesthetics of this “new” mainline entry to the series.

“I don’t like the extreme cases of tech or magic,” says Nomura. “If I choose, I choose a modern setting — but that’s not a good setting for a game. So if you look at FFXV it starts in a very modern world similar to Shinjuku (in downtown Tokyo), but when the story starts, you go to the medieval world — but the weapons they are using are high tech-weapons; that kind of combo is what I like.”

As with every Final Fantasy title, there’s really no lean toward extreme high or low fantasy – there’s always been this sort of mixture. For some titles, there’s been a lean to one side or the other – such as the sci-fi style of FFXIII or the medieval style of FFXI and XIV – but for Nomura, when he plays games he says he “can’t be emotionally involved if the game starts in an imaginary fantasy world” so he wants to start out in a modern world and then branch out to fantasy elements from there.

When it comes down to character design, things can get complicated according to Nomura. During the design process, he tends to like to make suggestions when creating the outlines for certain characters – like if a character should carry a long weapon sheathed on their back or what have you. Nomura actually used to design weapons as far back as Final Fantasy X – having suggested both Cloud’s buster sword and Squall’s gunblade previously. Before that, he worked on monster design such as the behemoth – originally designed for FFVII – is now redesigned for FFXV.

But where does Nomura’s inspiration come from? Is it modern fashion or personal insight?

“It’s not like I’m always thinking about character design,” says Nomura. “When I receive orders, I start imagining things. The image of that character, the “silhouette,” comes into my mind, and from that I start thinking of details. In the past I would probably flip through the pages of fashion magazines, now I look through the web pages of my favorite brands.”

Of course, perhaps the most iconic part of Nomura’s designs is the hair styles – something that has become easier to replicate in the game world due to ever increasing technology. Nomura notes that the real world doesn’t really cater too well to extreme hairstyles and as a result, he feels that game characters should shoulder designs that are often unique. He believes it’s just one way to show off a certain character’s personality.

“Sometimes I wish we had the easiness Western FPS [games] have, to make everyone bald. We’re a company that’s known for unique hairstyles, but in a way we’re running out of ideas.”

Final Fantasy Versus XIII was re-revealed as Final Fantasy XV just over a week ago, and the fallout from the brand-new series number is just beginning to settle. Originally, the game was intended to be on PlayStation 3 alone, but now slated for next-generation consoles, the game will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The team cites “several reasons” for the generational leap in this week’s Famitsu. Director Tetsuya Nomura was available, as well as Visual Field Director Takeshi Nozue and co-director Hajime Tabata (Final Fantasy Type-0, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII).

During his on-air E3 Square Enix Presents interview, director Tetsuya Nomura commented that the game was being developed in a PC environment, and that platforms that best support DirectX 11 will be likely candidates for the game’s appearance. While this may rule out a WiiU debut, it has led some PC fans to wonder if Square Enix will throw a bone their way.

Yoshihisa Hashimoto, Square Enix’s Chief Technology Officer, has lead the charge into the next-generation for the company with the Luminous Engine that will host games such as Final Fantasy XV. A PC version is currently undecided, but “collaborations” with Luminous Studio are planned for the future. The game, as per the team, will require a top of the line (expensive) machine to run. It’s because of this point that they want to see what the “demand” will be from the PC audience (which is your cue to let them know that you want it).

Previously, Final Fantasy games were developed on a “lead console” and ported to other systems such as Final Fantasy XIII. Final Fantasy XI was originally designed to fit within the capabilities of the PlayStation 2 and its hard disk drive, though support outside Japan was dropped when the console’s production eventually ceased. Such is the case with a Final Fantasy XV Xbox One version.

While Sony has touted PlayStation Vita will support Cross-Platform Play with PlayStation 4, Square Enix is considering the handheld for use with Final Fantasy XV. In addition to Vita, tablets and smartphones are on the table for various features.

Combat in Final Fantasy XV is taking a turn for more action as the above gameplay video illustrates. The team has taken a directional shift away from turn-based or time-based (ATB) combat for an entirely new direction. The team commented that one feature being added to the game is the ability to climb onto monsters in battle. A concept similar to this could be seen in the Final Fantasy Versus XIII 2011 trailer when Noctis was able to use combat vehicles (tanks, magitek). Noctis uses a behemoth’s horns to launch himself in the air in the newest gameplay trailer above.

You’ll also be able to switch between the three characters in your party at any time. Noctis, Gladiolus, and Prompto have been featured in footage thusfar, but we have yet to see the return of Ignis in combat or the newly-revealed Cor.

Final Fantasy executive producer Shinji Hashimoto hopes that traditional Final Fantasy fans won’t be disappointed and will embrace the shift away from Active Time Battle (a 22-year old convention) and Square Enix is looking forward to hearing feedback about the action-oriented combat. He also assures us that we will be hearing more about the game soon, and that the “dishonest” days of withholding information about games in development for months is at an end.

To sum up:

- Hajime Tabata (Type-0) is co-directing
- You can still switch player control between party members in battle.
- Hashimoto says the "dishonest" days of not having information for "months at a time" are behind them. Expect frequent and regular updates.
- They are considering releasing it on PC, and want people to show demand.
- They want to use Vita and other devices (tablets, etc.).

As we ’round the corner to September, ever closer do we inch to Tokyo Game Show – Japan’s premiere event for all things video games and game culture. The official website for the show was updated today with a preliminary listing of titles that are expected to be at the event – including several possibilities for Square Enix.

While not an official lineup, mind you, the list suggests that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III will be present in some capacity. What that is could be anyone’s guess, if at all really. Remember how many times Versus XIII came to the show practically empty handed? Either way, it’s worth waiting for the official word from Square Enix on this one. Going by previous years, that shouldn’t be too long from now.

Square Enix will also be bringing along Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Other games include Thief, Wolfenstein, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Drag-On Dragoon 3 (Drakengard 3), Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] and Dragon Quest X Online.

Today, details on the long-in-development Final Fantasy XV appeared under listings on the Sony and Microsoft’s Japanese webpages. The listings are not entirely new as Sony has had the game listed on the Japanese PSN since the PlayStation 4 launched in Japan in February. In fact, many of the details appear to be old, including an interview with Final Fantasy XV creator and long-standing Final Fantasy character designer Tetsuya Nomura. Still, there is plenty of new information to be had.

We took the liberty of translating the details for those that don’t speak Japanese or don’t want to grapple with ungainly machine translations. The following was found on the Sony site:

-The 15th Fantasy: The Legend of the Crystal:

The 15th tale in the world renowned Final Fantasy series is coming to PlayStation 4. The game is part of the “Fabula Nova Crystallis” project of which Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type Zero are also a part. The games share common lore but have their own distinct worlds.

The game was originally announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII for the PlayStation 3 but as of June 2013 the name and platform was changed. The game is attracting attention for its beautiful visuals and high-action battles which are being rendered by next-generation hardware.

-The Seed of War: The Last Remaining Crystal:

The Kingdom of Lucis, sole owners of the world’s last crystal, have long been at a cold war with the military dictatorship of Nifelheim. Now the two are putting aside their differences and working towards peace. However, celebrations are cut short as Nifelheim’s army launches an invasion on Lucis; crippling the kingdom’s Magic barriers. The protagonists who had lived their lives in peace, are drawn into the chaos of war between the two countries.

-Allies of the Kingdom of Lucis:

Notics Lucis Caelum

Next in line to the throne of Lucis, he is known as “Noct” by his friends. Prone to speaking his mind, he finds the decorum that characterizes his upbringing in the royal family to be stiffling. His attitude may come across as overconfident, but it is simply the outward expression of his desire to protect everyone.

Voice Actor: Tatsuhisa Suzuki

[Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Rai; Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Sandman]

Gladiolus Amicitia

The eldest child of the Amicitia family – a family with a long heritage of protecting the the House of Lucis. His family’s proximity to the royal family meant he was familiar with Noctis from a young age. In fact Gladiolus thinks of Noctis as a brother. For that reason his subservience to the royal family is more like a bond between close friends than a master-servant relationship.

Voice Actor: Kenta Miyake

[Street Fighter IV, Zangief; Halo, The Arbiter; Dead or Alive Dimensions; Bass Armstrong]

[Translator's note: Kenta is well known for playing muscleheaded characters. This might give us some insight into Gladiolus's character]

Ignis Scientia

The man pegged to be Noctis’s advisor in the future [presumably when Noctis is king]. As such he’s received special education from a young age. Being childhood friends with Noctis he understands him very well, acting as his confidant. He’s cool, collected and intelligent in contrast to Noctis who is bungling. As a result Ignis can often be found helping Noctis.

Voice Actor: Mamoru Miyano

[Steins; Gate, Rintaro Okabe; Kindgom Hearts series, Riku; Death Note; Light Yagami]

[Translator's note: It would appear Miyano is often typecast as intelligent characters. Especially psychotically intelligent ones]

Prompto Argentum

A bad influence on Noctis since their student days. He’s frivolous and a womanizer. Unlike Noctis’s other companions, Prompto isn’t of noble birth or a childhood friend to Noctis. Secretly that bites at him, making him desperate to prove his worth.

Voice Actor: Tetsuya Kakihara

[Corpse Party series, Sakutaro Morishige; Trails of Zero: Evolution, Lloyd Bannings]

Cor Leonis

Often called “The Immortal General”, he is the captain of the House of Lucis’s Elite Guard. He swears unwavering fealty to king and country. A hardheaded military type who is considered one of the three toughest people around. His strict attitude towards Noctis and his friends earns him their dislike, but that hasn’t stopped him from joining their journey and keeping an eye out for them.

Voice Actor: Hiroki Tochi

[Resident Evil series, Chris Redfield; Star Ocean 3: Till The End of Time, Cius Warren; Final Fantasy XIII, Yaag Rosch]

-Immersive, Speedy Battles:

The battles in Final Fantasy XV are a marked shift for the series – playing out like an action game. Battles flow smoothly from field exploration. Battles change dizzyingly from second to second and play out out both speedily and immersively. You can even change character mid-battle or link party member attacks together into attacks that are dynamically animated [translator's note: the term "dynamically" here is simply a buzz word, not a technical term].

Unfortunately, the Xbox site had considerably less to say about the game, only stating:

Final Fantasy XV is a departure for the series. It employs a high-action [battle] system that utilizes the specifications of next-generation hardware; players will be able to move all over the screen, into every nook and cranny. Party-oriented battles, a Final Fantasy staple, will be pushed even further; allowing players to enjoy even more strategic party-oriented battles by switching party members. The protagonists include “Noct”, heir to the throne of Lucis – the kindgom in control of the world’s last crystal. Noct and his friends are suddenly dragged into the chaos of war.

These updates come just days after Microsoft confirmed a September 26 release for the Xbox One in Japan. Final Fantasy XV however, still has no firm release date that was listed on either of the sites.

A new gameplay video (theres a lot of them showing off the engine, and showing how you move around, also some combat at the end)
_zj5Fu09izY

Also:

Duscae is a toponym, there's an area in the game world.
Demo length is about 1 hour, but players might play for about 3 hours.
There's gonna be a bit of overworld and a dungeon.
Car's in! Chocobos might also be.
No boss battles, because they're a big deal in the game.
Trying to make distribution date to be the same as Type 0 HD release date.
Ignis was driving in the trailer but you can do it yourself, or you can leave it on auto, so Noctis' friends will drive it for you.

See that Adamantoise? You can fight him.
But it will take a long while.

They're showing the demo.
Rain effects and thing. Detailed to the point where places under objects don't get wet and when it's sunny it dries up as you go.
Tech demo they're showing doesn't seem to be Duscae, instead it's the place from E3 2013 trailer where they fought Behemoth.
There is a realistic dynamic day-night cycle complete with lighting thing Ubi was flaunting so much with Watch Dogs.
SWORD WARP IS GAMEPLAY
I REPEAT IT'S WORKING GAMEPLAY
It's much snappier than in the trailer.
Fought Behemoth and a bunch of goblins. Party members attacked enemies on their own.
Visual details aren't completely fine-tuned yet.
Fire spell animation seemed to be based on the shape of the enemy.

I love that you can fight the Adamantoise, optional bosses ftw

Here's a translation that goes with the above demo
B: Hey, Tabata-san. I can sense this really immense pressure coming from the audience.

A: We initially planned to just end the show right now but...

B: However, we heard a moogle go "kupo, kupo!" this morning.

*They laugh

A: Yesterday, we heard from the moogle that he wanted us to show more actual gameplay from FFXV. So, how should I say this... I was a bit surprised at the public reaction because several people were asking me "Is this trailer pre-rendered?". Because of that, we are now adding this surprise segment to show you more actual gameplay from the demo.

B: With that said, we are now going to share more info on FFXV with you. Before we begin, please allow me to give you a few questions.

A: That's fine. Please go ahead.

B: The demo for FFXV has the subtitle "Episode Duscae". What does "Duscae" mean?

A: That confused a lot of people, didn't it? In the world of FFXV, there is an area called the Duscae region. The demo that will be released is going to allow players to play in this region. That is why we are naming it "Episode Duscae".

B: Oh, I get it now.

A: It's not because we are "releasing" this demo. (出そう "dasou")

B: It's not a pun.

A: Yes, it's not a pun.

B: How long would you say the playtime of the demo is going to be?

A: I think it's going to be about 1 hour. If you just stick to the story, it's going to be more or less 1 hour. There are plenty of monsters on the world map and there will be dungeons for the players to explore, right? If you fully experience the demo, there's probably 3 to 4 hours of playtime to be had.

B: That's a pretty rich demo.

A: I think that's the time if you are going around by car. If you are only walking, then it's most certainly going to be longer.

B: It's because it's an open world, isn't it?

A: Well, walking definitely takes a lot of time. However if you want to, there will be situations where the players are able to ride on chocobos.

B: Wow, that's a pretty interesting piece of info you've just shared.

A: However if you think it's impossible to go on with the chocobo, there are other vehicles for you to ride on.

B: I have one more question.

A: Yes.

B: Is the demo going to be featuring the opening parts of the story?

A: Yes, it's the early parts of the story. It's going to be following immediately after the opening where you are able to control the characters.

B: I see. I have to ask, is there going to be a boss fight in the demo?

A: Boss fights? Umm... There are no boss fights but the demo is going to have something even better than a boss fight.

B: Woah, is it alright for you to tell us what it is?

A: Sorry, I can't tell you what it is right now but I think it's going to be something that will thoroughly surprise all the FF fans out there.

B: I see. There's a lot more that we want to know. Is the demo going to be on a disc?

A: We will have a download code for the demo with every copy of FF Type-0 HD so the demo is going to be available around the same time that it is being sold.

B: This is something I really want to know. Is that one of the Adamant enemies in the trailer?

A: Yes, that's an Adamantaimai. (Sometimes called Adamantoise in the English versions)

B: Can we fight that?

A: Yes, you can fight that.

B: Oh.

A: You can fight it but it's going to take long time to defeat it. It's really tough so it's probably going to take an eternity to take it down.

B: I see. One more question. There was the trailer where they can be seen on a car. Is it possible for us to drive that car?

A: Ah... In the trailer, Ignis was driving the car. You can take control of the car but if you like, you can leave the driving to Ignis and he will do it automatically.

B: How does the auto driving work?

A: You can tell your allies where you want to go or set a marker on the world map. You can then leave it to Ignis who will automatically take you there.

B: That activates an event where you do that.

A: Exactly. If you are driving, you will have manual control of the car.

B: With all that said, ...

A: It's time for the demo, isn't it?

B: Yes. I'm sure you all want to watch the demo. Hashimoto-san, would you please?

A: Yes, Hashimoto-san will be coming onto the stage. We call him an expert at PR. Please welcome him as he will be playing the demo.

B: We have a bit of time. Do you want him to introduce himself again?

A: You really want him to introduce himself again? We are now going to present the demo to you. However, we weren't able to prepare everything since it was on such a short notice. We might even be a bit nervous so please accept our apologies.

B: Yes. If you would please switch the video to...

*Demo start screen appears

B: Oh, the video can be seen.

A: Yes.

*Applause from the audience

B: Let us begin.

A: Yes. This image is very appropriate for FFXV, don't you think? Now, let's enter the game.

*Demo begins

A: It wouldn't be fun if I just simply brought an in-development version with debug commands so I will show some details that would make it easier for me to explain the game.

B: This is not a movie, right?

A: This is a movie. Wait, no. This is not a movie. Umm, if you would please move the camera around for us.

B: Oh.... Wow, it's actual gameplay. You weren't kidding.

A: Yes. Right now, it is raining and the characters are drenched. Let's look at the characters.

B: Oh, big bro.

A: Yes, Gladio (short for Gladiolus). Please take a good look at him. Now, on to the next character.

B: Yes.

A: This is Prompto. By the way, his appearance has changed from last year. His hair is a bit different. Not to mention, his basic facial expressions have also been modified.

B: I see.

A: Next is...

B: Ignis.

A: Yes, this is Ignis. His jacket is gleaming, isn't it?

B: He is soaked but he looks like he doesn't care.

A: Well, he's like this even if it's sunny or rainy. Even though time went by and plenty of changes were made, I think he has changed very little from his original design.

B: Interesting.

A: Not only are there different character appearances in the rain, but there are also puddles. Please take a look at the puddles.

B: Oh, a frog.

A: Well, I didn't just want to show you a frog. There are puddles around the frog.

B: There really are puddles.

A: Yes. Please see that this is not static.

B: Wow, that's amazing.

A: If there's water, you can see effects like this but the places covered by a roof for example will not be wet.

B: I see.

A: Yes. It's something we try to make as realistic as possible. Right now the technicians are still working to improve it. Now, let's make it brighter.

*Weather changes from rainy to sunny.

A: I would have liked to talk more about the weather transition that just happened but...

B: We are under a time constraint now, right?

A: Right. We are under a time constraint now. Why don't we take one more look at the characters now that it's sunny?

B: Oh, I can see that their shirts are no longer wet.

A: Yes, they are dry now. It's really subtle but the hair is also different now.

B: The change is really minute.

A: If it's really minute, then it means you don't see it. *short laugh

A: Now, the other characters...

B: Yes, I see it now. The hair looks silky.

A: If you can remember the gameplay demo that we showed at E3 last year, there was a fight with a Behemoth in front of an office building. This is more or less the same location. However, we have tremendously improved the engine this time. We integrated the Luminous Studio engine with the original engine for FFXV that we were calling "Ebony". With the engine we have now, the game was able to be improved and from then on, development proceeded steadily.

B: I see.

A: Everyone, please pay attention to their movements.

B: Oh, the UI has appeared.

A: Umm... Ah, yes. Take a look at the surroundings. Try and see as the camera rotates.

B: Wow, that's really incredible.

A: This is the place that I mentioned before where the Behemoth fight happened last year. It is now possible for us to adjust the current time and cycle through 24 hours in the game.

B: It's now become dark.

A: Right. The environment has completely changed to night time. After this, it will be morning, As you can see, the world continuously changes as time passes and this affects your experiences while journeying through it. At E3 last year, we had a night scene in that battle trailer but we had to manually set the time. Now, the day and night cycle occurs naturally within the game.

B: Got it.

A: Please show us a bit of the battle mechanics.

B: It's a bit scary being so high.

A: This is really high up, isn't it? I guess it's because we're looking downwards. By the way, what we have here is about 70 to 80% of the final game quality. I think we can increase it by the time the demo is released.

B: Oh, I see.

A: Yes, it is somewhat like this.

B: Now, how about we show them a battle?

A: If we're going to have a battle here, then it has to be against...

B: Oh! Behemoth.

A: Yes.

B: Those small ones... goblins?

A: They have joined the battle this time. The goblins are small and their laugh goes "kyakya".

B: The goblins are very agitated, aren't they?

A: That's right. If you enter a cave, you will run into plenty of them.

B: He's just been avoiding their attacks. This is...

A: This is... I will avoid going into the details of the intricate battle system. However if you hold onto the Defend button, he will continuously perform quick dodges. That is how the battle system works..

B: Interesting.

A: Yes. Attacks are also performed by pressing the attack button. In which case, he will automatically attack for you. This is an Action RPG but it is really easy to execute various techniques.

B: Somehow, I feel like compared to the trailer at E3 last year, this seems a bit more fast paced. I don't know why but it just feels that way to me.

A: It seems like that, doesn't it? We didn't change the pacing of the game. I mentioned earlier that we were still developing on a temporary engine. Then, we increased the completion rate so that it would be one-to-one. It was around that time when we began deciding on the finishing touches. Now, we are at the stage where things are still being changed so certain aspects of the game like motion is not yet 100% determined. However, the game will continue to be improved.

B: By the way, we are running out of time. The monsters have to defeated quickly.

A: Can he defeat them all... Back there, he performed an attack with Ignis' help. This is also a special part of the battle system. If you execute the command, nearby allies will quickly come to you. I don't think we can make it.

B: Yes, we don't have enough time already.

A: We went overtime. Sorry.

B: Oh, but...

A: Hey, he defeated it. He defeated it at the last minute.

*Text appears along with a picture of Luna

Soon, we will deliver to you all a better demo.

Please look forward to it. Thank you all very much.

Thank you for watching!

B: Anyway, that was our playthrough of the demo. Thank you all for watching!

A: Are there any thoughts on this PV? Do you even understand what was going on in the video? *laugh

B: It has finally been 30 minutes.

A: Just as we thought. Sorry, everyone. The time was really short.

B: Well, there's "Square Enix Presents" along with other shows. We might try doing a longer version of this.

A: Yes, we can certainly try to do that. Before today, we didn't share much info with you at all and it was because we really weren't able to. However, we tried to give you as much info as we possibly can today.

B: We're going to be at the Jump Festa coming this December so...

A: Ah, yes. At that event, ....

B: We wish to share more info with them, don't we?

A: Yes, absolutely.

B: With that said, did you enjoy this FF Type-0 HD Emergency Talk Show? Please visit us on Niconico Live. You are welcome to check us out there.

A: Oh, this is being streamed on Niconico Live?

B: Sorry, I forgot to introduce the viewers on Niconico Live.

A: How is it going there? I'll try to read the comments later.

B: All right, everybody. Our Emergency Talk Show ends here. Thank you all very much!

Wow, this game sounds epic
http://gematsu.com/2014/09/final-fantasy-xv-director-talks-development-open-world-combat-demo

- Day/night cycle
- Weather cycle that can affect spells (if you cast fire on a hot day, the surrounding plant life may catch fire)
- You will have to camp each night, or your team will be become worn out
- Larger monsters come above ground at night
- It's open world!
- XV is 50% done (as in, XV itself, don't include Versus in this developement cycle, since it was kind of scrapped)
- Development for XV has been rather fast
- Tabata and the Type-0 team got brought on board in 2012 to try and get the game out quicker.
- Enemy encounters are seamless, no more smashing glass transitions
- Team combat is comparable to XII's gambit system
- At the end of each day, total XP earned among with other stats will be shown
- You can drive, or let Ignis take the wheel, or you can walk, or ride a chocobo.

Yeah, you can kinda see the past games influence in the game. The car used to look a little different back when it was Versus, lol.

So here's some of the info

- Defend button can't be spammed, it uses MP
- Attack button brings up directional button options, for which move you would like to use (I think, still early translation)
- Switching of characters wont be in the game, instead they want to focus on making the party work with Noctis, you can obviously change up the gambits.
- You can jump in the game
- You can use the phantom sword thing as a shield
- You can do short warps and jump around to change up combat
(There is a video that shows the previous two bits in a lot more detail, will add it when it is uploaded)
- You can chose your main weapon to use in the game, and find new weapons through out the game
- There will be hard optional dungeons

There will also be some more information coming in November, Tabata wants to make sure we get info updates regularly now, in a similar style to XIV's live letters.

Walking the world

The first video shown is a portion of the Dascae region which will be on the demo
Events and enemy position removed/changed for this video to show just the walking
You can eat and gather information at gas stations
If you can see something in the background you can go to it
Depending on the shape of the ground Noct and friends walking animations will change
If you keep running you can see your friends tire and try to catch their breath
You can fish in streams, rivers, and the ocean!
You can fight the wildlife. As they are always active, be careful as they will attack if you get close
There are buildings in the forest with people living in them. You can enter some of these buildings
There are also animals that aren't enemies like cats and dogs
In order to make the mountains the developers actually climbed one. They might show a video of them doing this one day
Demons like the Naga or the Goblins will come out of the caves at night
It's dangerous at night and is safer to rest at a gas station or by other means
The party members dialogue will change in accordance to the time
A Chocobo was shown in the forest. Look forward to finding out more in the demo
The enemy airship patrols will sometimes land and fight you
Magitek Armor will make an appearance. (was not meant to have been said)
The Dascae region is as a large as 10% of the game

The Tech Demo!

Currently transferring the game from Ebony to Luminous
Engine transferring currently 80% complete and will be 100% done by the time the demo is out
Working with Sony and MS to help push the hardware to its limits
Not all, but you can destroy buildings and the ground
With the power of Luminous FFXV will far surpase FF:AC
Another tech demo is planned to be shown at a later date

Your questions to Tabata

Q.What if I mash the attack button instead of holding it down?
A.Even if you mash the attack button the combo will still operate fine and connect together. It's possible to counter while you button mash; if you hold the button down you have to be more careful of the enemies movements and it's more strategic.

Q.Will Type0 HD be available digitally and will it come with the FFXV demo?
A.Of course

Q.Why doesn't the MP show up on the UI?
A.The battle UI is still temporary. When it is complete it will clearly show the MP

Q.I'm a little worried the game will only last 40 hours
A.The main story itself will take 40 hours. Beating dungeons and other actives will make the length of the game much longer

Info!

Final Fantasy XV fans have finally got what they’ve been waiting for, as Square Enix shared the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XV on the first day of Jump Festa 2015 in Japan. Game Jouhou shares what went on during the presentation with a beefy summary of the event. Below is our translation.

The giant monster shown at the end of the trailer is indeed Titan.

Summoned Beasts can be acquired after fighting them, and there are various other conditions for acquiring them as well.

Titan will play a big role in the story, but the demo won’t include him in. It will instead add another Summoned Beast that is not a big part of the story. You’ll get to summon this Beast, and it is said that it will be a dynamic one that will surprise players.

The giant size of Titan seen in the trailer is how he’ll look when you summon him yourself.

The town in the trailer is shown in a seamless fashion; however, at the current stage, Square Enix can’t say for sure whether the entire game will be seamless. Again, they say that they’re doing their best to make it all seamless, but important scenes will likely require some loading. The demo, however, will be completely seamless.

The town shown is called “Lestarg” and it plays an important role in the story surrounding Titan. It is not a huge town, and won’t be in the demo. There’s a hotel where you’ll get to rest, eat, and shop, along with all kinds of other events.

General Cor Leonis will join you and fight in the party. there are some party members that will join as temporary guests, and Cor is one of them. He’s not a friend of Noctis and the others, but an aide to his father. He’ll be there to look out for Noctis and Co.

If you go a while without sleeping, the stat boosts you get from foods and such will lose their effect.

The sleep element has been added to further emphasize that these characters are living people, so they’ll need to get rest just like any normal human. You can eat meals at camp for extra status effects.

You’ll need to take a breather in order to level up. So basically, if you don’t rest at a camping area, you won’t level up. This will make it possible for people to challenge themselves at beating the game at a low level.

You can go three days without sleeping, but any longer than that and you’ll begin to see negative effects.

One day in Final Fantasy XV is the equivalent of a real-life hour, so a day lasts for about 40 to 45 minutes, and the rest is night. This bit is currently in development, so it’s subject to change.

There will be moments where you’ll need to go on fighting for days at a time.

There are also trains to travel inside, and these will have their own spaces within them. You’ll travel by train at times, and can freely walk around inside when you do.

Cindy (or Cidney in Japanese) doesn’t have much to do with the story, but she’s a mechanic who’ll talk to you about gameplay. While we still don’t know exactly what kind of mechanic she is, she’ll appear in the demo. Square Enix’s male staff members have been putting a lot of effort into creating her.

At the moment, Square Enix are working on adding more action varieties, and they feel that magic isn’t looking too impressive, so they’re not showing it. They need to work on it, but they’ll do that after they’re done with the Summoned Beasts.

At first, they decided on only having Noctis use magic, but they felt that it wouldn’t be as fun gameplay wise, so they’re changing it up a bit so that everyone in the party can use magic.

Square are adding various languages for the demo version that will release around the world, but due to the heavy amount of content and problems in schedule, Square Enix can’t say for sure whether they’ll all be included in the initial release.

Insomnia is the capital of the Kingdom of Lucis, where Noctis is the prince of. This is where a ceremonial signing will take place.

Square Enix prepared all kinds of scenes for the latest trailer, but since they didn’t use them all, map director Yasuyuki Matsunami got pretty upset. Tabata justified his reason by saying that trailers can be made in two ways: to advertise or show the state of development. They showed Behemoth and weathers in the previous trailers, and Tabata says this was put together in a rush. As for Jump Festa 2015, the focus was advertising, which was done by the editing studio, and not in cooperation with the development staff. For this reason, they weren’t able to include all the scenes that were requested by staff.

Some of the omitted scenes were shown separately at the event, including one that highlighted Cindy, and another with town exploration.

There was a much older version of the town, but the latest version had a lot more going on that was shown in the trailer when you see Noctis and friends cruising in there. The full-release version will look nicer, and will have more people walking around. If you go near them, you’ll also get to hear them speaking.

You can purchase ingredients to cook at camp. By eating those foods, you’ll gain positive effects. By properly sleeping, you’ll maintain its effects.

The part that shows the dog peeing [in the footage with town exploration], in the back, they show a part that will play a big role in the game’s story.

Tabata jokingly said that he’ll introduce more on the dog if the demand is high enough.

Dual Audio for Episode Duscae is confirmed. Dual Audio for full game is not confirmed at this time. Hazmer quoted Tabata that they are doing their very best to make it happen.
Ignis can cook and he can make great meals based on the ingredients you have.
Wan Hazmer confirmed the town shown in the latest trailer is called Lestallum. Tradition will play a very important role here.
Any Malaysian culture featured in Final Fantasy XV? Foods include Teh tarik, Satay and Roti canai and the NPCs were shown making these Malaysian dishes.
NPCs will be unique.
FFXV’s day/night cycle lasts about 60 minutes of Earth time. The daytime is about 40 minutes with night currently at 20.
Players won’t be able to level up properly should they neglect camp. Experience points aren’t lost if you don’t camp. They accumulate but just aren’t utilized. You will be able to camp any time you want.
Will have to fight throughout the span of multiple days in some dungeons.
Titan was also confirmed to be one of the game’s primary summons. Although he won’t be in the upcoming demo, another summon will make its appearance.
There are many ways to obtain summons. Titan has to be fought, for example.
Titan can then be summoned. Does he look like in the trailer when summoned? “You will need to wait to find out.”
@Tron942 asked Wan Hazmer if Stella was still in the game. Hazmer laughed, with a shake of his head before replying “No comment.” It’s unknown if she’s been abandoned completely.
Cor reconfirmed still in the game. He’s separated from the party by 20 years of age, and thus is a supporting character, not a main one. “Father figure to the team” and friend of King Regis, he is confirmed as a guest party member in the game.
The team is working on avoiding excessive menus and commands because this is an action game.
Unique weapon system. You set multiple weapons for Noctis. One is the main weapon. Weapons have abilities – main weapon’s abilities will apply. Some weapons have high stats but no abilities, and vice versa.
Hunting down weapons (e.g. asking NPCs for info then going to dungeons to retrieve) will be an involved process.
Magic’s visuals does not currently live up to Square Enix’s visual standards just yet. Focusing on summons as it is more difficult. Will release more information on magic when it’s ready.
Cindy (very deliberately pronounced) appears to be the accepted English name, by Hazmer who has obviously an excellent grasp of the language. No voice in Cindy cutscene to avoid spoilers.
Cindy is in the trial.

Still not sure it will be that soon :p

but...

Despite it not being mentioned in the latest trailer or Active Time Report, the director of Final Fantasy XV told Gamespot in a recent interview that fans can expect to play the full game before 2017, suggesting the game will be out next year.

Tabata: “We can certainly say to people: it’s not going to be 2017. It’s going to be before that.”

When asked when we can expect it.
Tabata: “At the very least, I can tell you that it isn’t going to be released this year. I think we’ll be able to tell you when we’re making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month.”

When asked how they intend to to reassure the fans about their project.
Tabata: “I understand why people are feeling that way after coming to Cologne and speaking to a lot of the media,” he said. “We really do get the feeling that people are a bit worried. Certainly, one thing I would like to say to them to reassure them, is that we’ve set down the release date, we know when it is, and we’ve got a complete road map lined up, right up to launch, and we’re proceeding along that as planned.”

A battle against Magitek Armor.
If you use “Fire” magic in the grassy plains, the whole area will burst into flames all at once. The force of this will hurt your allies as well as your enemies.
Noctis can mount monsters and in an instant reduce its physical strength.
Attack monsters from the sky by jumping.
Noctis sneaking into into enemy territory as not to be discovered.

Hyped. I really enjoyed Episode Duscae... my only real gripe with it (aside from a few minor framerate drops) was described best in a review I read; "Noctis runs like he has severe hypermobility in every joint" :joker:. It's true, he runs like he's just woken up from a heavy night and is a bit late for class... hardly a major issue, though :joker:. There were vast improvements between the two demo versions, too, so hopefully the finished product is even more polished.

The demo dented my hype, the battle system is more streamlined but defending still feels like a crapshoot and dodging attacks isn't effective.

Scarlett.
31-03-2016, 08:10 PM
They still have time to make some more adjustments, but it feels a lot better than it did. Also, we were only really given basic stuff to fight with there, there will be a lot more weapons and moves in the final game.

Depending on what you're going to study - you over-estimate how busy you'll be at Uni. One semester, I only had 9 hours of classes a week, and 4 hours of that was on a Monday :umm2:. Even factoring in a generous amount of time for socialising - I still had more time for gaming at Uni than at any other time in my entire life :joker:.

I'm slightly irritated but also not. Far too many companies releasing games that are barely playable until 2 months after release... I can accept them holding it back until it's fully baked.

I will however not be pleased if it's buggy AT ALL when released in November :hmph:

I don't mind chilling out in the car and letting Ignis drive, personally :joker:... but I'm playing in the evenings while my wife internet browses so it also gives me a little break to chat rather than just be zones out at the screen all evening.

It'll be even better when I've unlocked more soundtracks :flutter:

My main travel gripe is that you can sprint from place to place faster if you randomly jump every few seconds and that looks stupid / is immersion breaking... personally I don't think there's a need for stamina and you should just be able to perma-sprint . Having stamina doesn't increase the challenge in the game or anything... literally ALL it does, is make it take longer to run places. Whyyy?

Otherwise I'm loving the game. Taking my time with it, 3 hours in and I haven't left the first area... trying to take on the higher level hunts while I'm still low level.

If I have a couple of tech complaints, one would obviously be the frame-stutter that's happening occasionally but hopefully that'll be patched soon enough... it's not game breaking. The other is the map being bound to R3... I keep hitting it by accident in combat and it's a pain in the arse.

I've got to the first city. Spent ages running around Duscae doing sidequests. The travel is still a bit clunky but I've gotten over it.

It kind of bothers me that you can pick up sidequests that you can't complete at the time you're given them. I've got a quest from Cindy but the area it's based in is behind a blockade so now that quest is messing up my quest log and driving me insane.

Also 'Ee-ris' triggers me. Bitches need to learn to pronounce their names properly.

TBF, the irritation can't be on a par with what I felt reading the (I assume, unofficial) subtitles on the "Brotherhood" anime. Whenever a character said "Noct/Nocto/Noctis" it was - seemingly completely at random - translated as "Noctis/Noct" (hooray!), "New" and, unfathomably, "Neck". ... ... Sometimes directly juxtaposed.

Character quite clearly:

"Noctooo! Noct!!"

Translation:

"New! ... Neck!"

 ... I might never get over it.

I'm enjoying it a lot, the game itself is great, but recently realised this: it doesn't set up the story at the start... AT ALL. If you haven't seen the film (Kingsglaive) I can't see how someone coming straight in would have ANY idea what's going on :joker:. In fact I would recommend watching the Brotherhood anime, too.

I don't know if I'm missing something? It really does just throw you in as if you already know who all of the main 4 plus Lunafreya are... Plus the politics of what's going on with the war. The characters are set up well in Brotherhood and the politics is explained well enough in Kingsglaive, so for those of us who watched them, it's fine and it really felt like "continuing where we left off". But for those who haven't seen them I feel like there's a massive story gap there? It's assumed that you already know the setting. Odd, really.

Only other gripe is that I was expecting better framerate on the Pro in 1080p. I know there's supposedly a patch coming for this in December but currently it's only in the 30-40 for range, which is still better than vanilla, but as a mainly PC gamer I personally struggle slightly with anything below 50...

Also, not really a gripe, but... At the beginning of the game, magic is HILARIOUSLY over-powered :joker:. But nuking things is sort of fun anyway and you can always just not collect any to avoid the temptation.

... ... Warping back and forward (warp to point / warp strike & repeat) is also sort of broken.

But I suppose it is FF. And it's nowhere near as broken as FF8's junction system and that's still my fav...

I think the story is decent, it's just that (like I said) it seems like a lot of the story is told outside the game in the other associated material... It seems like an odd choice. It really stands out at the end of the prologue chapter, which is where Kingsglaive would fit in. It shows various clips from that but... It's a 90 minute + movie and its covered in a couple of minutes. If I hadn't already seen the movie, I'm pretty sure I would have had NO IDEA what had actually happened... And also *minor spoiler but from very early game*
No idea how Lunafreya managed to survive, which is really what the movie is about. Or what the significance of the ring she has is. This seems to all be assumed as "known"...

Scarlett.
04-12-2016, 06:39 PM
I think the reason Kingsglaive exists is, they needed to tell the story of Insomnia, but couldn't manage to do it in the game itself, since, back in the Versus days, Insomnia was a huge part of the story. It's just one of those things that happen after 10 years of development, personally I think the game is great, you can't really tell it was in development hell, for so long, unlike other games. I don't think we'll get the same issues when it comes to XVI.

Tom4784
04-12-2016, 08:21 PM
They had to cut and change a lot since Versus was apparently meant to be a trilogy but they opted to tell the whole story in one game instead.

Kingsglaive is pretty disparate for a rather vital part of the overall story. Luna looks and acts completely different, they don't mention the whole oracle business at all which is a bit confusing. It does help the start of the game make a little more sense though.

FFXV is pretty good, there's a few annoyances (bad camera, the battle controls sometimes feel a bit sluggish, traveling takes a bit of getting used to) but I've been hooked thus far.

I genuinely have been OK with the travel, but I agree on the camera to an extent especially when it comes to warp points.

I also am AWFUL at dodging / blocking / parrying but that might just be me :joker:. I just warp around a lot instead, or fire up an ally's ability if a heavy hit is coming because I'm pretty sure that makes everyone invulnerable for the duration? Another slightly cheesy / broken aspect of combat... I actually feel like they might patch some of these things eventually.

I'm okay with the travel now but it takes some getting used to.

I just get annoyed at camera angles that highlight foliage rather than the battle I'm in the middle of.

The combat's at it's best in boss battles, I feel like fighting multiple enemies really exposes it's weaknesses and how clunky it can be at times.

Yes, especially when you're fighting a group of 6 or 7 on a hunt and then they dump 10 soldiers on your head without you noticing, and then another group of scorpion things wander in, so now there's like 30 in a crazy cluster and you can't target anything at all.

Though that's when aforementioned magic-nuke is most fun...

As I’ve said before, release day is not the end for Final Fantasy XV, and I would like to share some of the things we have in store. The great reception we have received has actually allowed us to expand our plans even further.

We want you to enjoy Final Fantasy XV for a long time to come. We have been listening to your ideas on how to make the game experience even better, and so in addition to the previously announced content, we’ll be providing free updates to the game throughout the coming year.

Our early plans are to enrich certain aspects of the game, adding gameplay enhancements for Chapter 13, buffing ring magic, etc. We’ll have the specifics of what and when for you at a later date.

After that, we’re hoping to delve deeper into the story, adding scenes that will give you new insight into character motivations, such as why Ravus walked the path he did. We will need a little time with these, as they’ll need to be localized and voiced in other languages, but we’ll let you know the details once everything is set.

For the long term, we are looking at making certain key characters playable, and even considering the possibility of customizable avatars, in addition to other features over time.

Other features we have in mind include letting you carry over stats from a previous playthrough, and adding items that introduce new playstyles, such as low-level runs and god mode. We’re also examining readability tweaks - increasing font size - for certain languages. On top of that, we’re looking at content you can enjoy in real-time, including new bosses with exclusive rewards and achievements, and limited-time hunts.

Hajime Tabata

Glad to hear that they are doing this, the game is already very good in its current form, but to have extra FREE updates that make the story and gameplay even more robust is a massive plus.

Hmm, I might hold off my progress if they're adding more story elements.

I'm on Chapter 10 now, the storyline is so problematic so far. I'm still enjoying the game itself though.

The second half of the game is decent enough, though it does feel that you are rushed toward the climax, and a lot of side character's stories are left unfinished.

Tom4784

Finished it. I loved the game itself but the story is easily the worst of any FF ever.

Which is really annoying given that there are great moments but they're marred by a lack of character development, half the story seemingly being cut out and the fact that everything happens offscreen.

The ending would have been amazing if there was an emotional attachment from the player but there simply isn't because the story is rushed and there's not many attempts to adhere the characters to the player.

Ardyn as a villain fails because they tried to do another Kefka-esque villain but it didn't work since Kefka worked because he didn't seem like a main villain, there was never any doubt with Ardyn.

Lunafreya and Noct's relationship falls on it's arse because we're given no time to care for it which is ridiculous given that they are in the main logo of the game. More of the Road Trip section of the game should have been used to develop the supporting cast, it annoys me how someone like Cor disappears with little explanation when you'd think he'd be important and I simply didn't care about Luna when she died because she was basically a plot device.

The story is just a mess and I've got a feeling that it was designed that way so that the cut story elements happen in the DLC.

Loved the game though, just a shame about the story.

OK so I'm now level 43, 32 hours played, and still at the start of chapter 3 (just had the boring tour of the town by Gladio's li'l sister). The next storyline mission suggests level 10. :joker:. I may have taken the procrastination a little far.

Apparently you can plough through the main quest in under 20 hours if you ignore most of the other stuff, but there are a tonne of side quests / hunts etc.

Like I said above, I'm at over 30 hours and I've only just gotten to the first town... But I do think that's probably an extreme example.

It will make sense if you complete the main game first (actually, don't think it unlocks until after Chapter 11). They've made quite a few additions on the back end of the game, adding much more story to the second half. The character episodes have been decent, Prompto's was good.

Yeah, that's why I stopped playing, they announced the added story content just as I hit Chapter 9 so I decided to stop playing until it was released... but that was like 9 months ago :joker:. It's next on my list of "unfinished games". Then "The Witcher 3", which I've been about 80% of the way through for years... 65 hours played :umm2:...

Right, those who have played the Prompto DLC...

Prompto has just taken his swan dive off the train, I'm playing on with the game and assume he'll rejoin eventually as Gladio did... my question is, should I play the DLC at that point (when he returns to the party) OR is it better to play it post-game? In other words... does it spoil any story content that occurs AFTER he rejoins the party?

Scarlett.

Hmm, I can't actually remember if it spoils anything from the main story, its a good dlc though

Does it not make you really pissed off that this is starting to become the game that it really should have been from the very start? Like I sort of wish I hadn't already played through the storyline, so that I could play it in a few years when it's totally "done"

They're only able to do that now after having made all the character episodes, would have been too much work to put in the original game I think.

True but I think this is mainly because of the game's development troubles... I do sort of think that somewhere in the original plan once the concept of the 4 buddies was thought up, they intended for them to be switchable in combat. They couldn't implement it in time and so came up with the episodes structure, and now have decided to bite the bullet and port over the other guys combat mechanics to the main game, creating the combat system they envisioned in the first place.

I also think they originally fully intended for the big post-chapter-9 world area to be a fleshed out open world just like the first area, and again it was just a stretch too far.

The game, while excellent (the story less so), was rushed which is crazy when you think that it was in development for 10+ years.

The game, while excellent (the story less so), was rushed which is crazy when you think that it was in development for 10+ years.

I think people would have waited longer for it not to be, however, I don't think they were willing to gamble any more funding on it at the time. Because it was well received despite its flaws, they have continued to work on featured that were intended for the main release, but if it hadn't been embraced by fans they wouldn't have funded further development. A bit of an odd situation really... they sort of beta-released it? And I don't necessarily have a problem with beta releases but I personally would have waited to play if I had known these features were coming.

I actually still haven't finished it; I got up to

[spoiler]Hammerhead, "10 years later" where it says there's no turning back once you leave Hammerhead[/quote]

Then I Umbra'd to Lucis to do some hunts and sidequests, been considering going for the platinum, but now (again!) I might drop it until January and completely start from scratch :worry:. I haven't done that much side content and I reckon it would only take maybe 15 hours to go back through the main questline with a bit of wandering thrown in, and then go from there for platinum.

I never used to be into trophies at all but after getting two platinums this year I feel oddly compelled :umm2:.

It probably didn't help that they threw out most of what they were working on with Versus XIII tbh, it did feel like they were trying to latch on to the open world trend and I think they sacrificed a lot of Versus to do that. It annoys me that they threw XV's story together when Versus XIII's story from the bits that have been released sounded fantastic.

I've been meaning to play through it again for the new story content to see if it fixes things but I keep putting it off since they keep adding more to the main story. I bought the season pass when it came out but I've yet to play Prompto and Ignis' episodes.

I bought the season pass when it came out but I've yet to play Prompto and Ignis' episodes.I only played from chapter 9 after the additions were made so I don't know what was or wasn't there before... But I still found a big chunk pretty "empty", from after the Regalia gets trashed up until finding Prompto was basically just Noctis running down long empty corridors collecting key cards... It's tedious. Like they made an attempt at stealth / survival horror / jumpscares but it's never scary because, even though you only have the ring for most of it, the ring seems majorly overpowered. "OH NO a scary bbbzzzrrrtttt *pop* and it's gone." that said, based on the fact that Prompto is level 34 in the DLC and my Prompto at that point was level 72... There's a chance I was a bit over levelled...

There are a few narrated cut-away sequences that I feel like might be what was added? I honestly can't think of anything else it could be.

Scarlett.

Well, the new path was the Gladio/Ignis one, in which you control Gladio, it has a lot more lore in it, I think they kept the Noctis path so it didn't seem like they were 'deleting' part of the game. Also, the ring used to be super weak, and the enemies would take ages to kill, which made the stealth/survival horror thing more important. But it went on too long, so they boosted the ring to make that part of the game faster.

Most people aren't going to choose "easy", surely?

Also, they should have removed the dialogue line where Ardyn mocks Noct about the ring being weak and "such a let down" or something... Because I was like "What do you mean? It's pretty awesome..." :joker:

So, turns out I haven't seen the new stuff at all.

I think you can choose the new version from the 'Special' option on the menu

All that's in there for me is the "Assassin's Somethingorother", and then the episodes + multiplayer under DLC.

It did give the option, several times, to switch to Gladio / Ignis throughout the Noctis section but like I said it describes that as "easy mode" versus Noct being "Normal mode" every time, so I didn't realise that was new and never switched to it, as I would never knowignly choose easy mode over normal! I assumed it was basically just the same section but using Gladio / Ignis for easier combat. Which again didn't make all that much sense since the ring has been upgraded to some sort of one-hit WMD and the whole section is a cake walk :joker:.

I'm on Chapter 7 of a total restart because I wanted to play through with character switching and go for the platinum, and now they've announced more new stuff . I might leave it alone for a few years and get it on PC in the far future when I can play it at 4k/60fps :joker:. I mean they have to stop messing around with it at some point... right?

Although they keep breaking little things with it... e.g. if you're any good at the Gladio DLC, he's really overpowered early on in the main campaign if you switch to him in battle. Block / parry up to 4x damage and spam Razor's Edge and he sometimes hits for 9999 at like level 7 or 8...

The Royal Edition upgrade is worth getting, on top of it adding even more weight on the back end of the game, it comes with some pretty good updates.

BUT IT GETS BETTER...

...the PC version has a mod / utility that you can use to replace all of the Regalia soundtrack songs with your own MP3's. Which is better than any graphics or gameplay improvements combined let's face it. :omgno: the fellas are getting their groove back.

Comrades is being released as a seperate game than XV, and has two planned updates in the upcoming months

XV itself will get 4 more DLC, we already know about Episode Ardyn, the others are

Episode Luna
Episode Noctis

Apparently all four DLCs will tell a continuing story and will be directed by the Episode Ignis director.

The DLCs are pretty fun too :D

Surely the Gladio DLC will be appreciated, at least :hehe:.

It's one of the lower-rated but I actually really enjoyed it, too. Fun once you get used to his gameplay mechanics.

Also if you know how to play Gladio, he's massively OP early in the main game. I almost-completed on PS4 and played the DLC's, then restarted on PC (because 60fps @ 4k  ). Gladio can take out a Red Giant solo at really low level, if you know how to use his game mechanics. Noct obviously starts dominating at higher levels because of warping, but you can deal (and take) far more damage as Gladio for nearly half the game.
