Right decision and Paul Lambert is already linked by the press as a possible replacement for him.

A bad appointment in the first place. Villa were fortunate not to suffer more.

Definately right decision if that's what they do, I am not a fan of Aston Villa but Mcleish did for them what he did to Birmingham, they only just beat off relegation this season and with him at the helm next season they would be vastly more likely to go down than stay up.
He is a Manager with no vision and an inability to motivate players too.

If Martinez wouldn't come when we finished above them I doubt he'll come now

I agree, although anything can happen in Football as proved many times before.

I thought Martinez didnt go last time was out of loyalty to Wigan and Dave Whelan. Whelan has as good as said he expects Martinez to be at one of the top clubs soon so Martinez could be the one.

We're not really a top club anymore though, so I doubt it, it would be nice..i still think I prefer Lambert though. Need to see martinez have a season where they don't just leave it till the last minute

Would Lambert be mad to leave Norwich after the season they have just had, or would he be tempted by the challenge of turning Villa round? Interesting decision for him to make...

Lambert has only had one season Martinez has more Premiership experience.

He wouldn't confirm that he was staying at Norwich, I think he'd take it if he was offered it, follow MON's footsteps

I never want a manager to be sacked but this is one time where I think its best for everyone.

It was a mistake as he killed us off when we shouldn't have been anywhere near the bottom let alone relegated.

I more draw instaead of one of their wins win and likely Villa would have been down this season, he is a disaster.

Chuffed at the news as he hates him.:joker:
One more draw instead of a win would still have kept Villa up :suspect: unless that draw was against Bolton I suppose

some of the stats from his time here..
he really is one of the worst managers the Premier League has seen
I don't even wish him on teams I hate

Well I hope the rumours are wrong as his been fantastic this season for us and I would say he has been the manager of the season out of all of Europe considering the state he walked into and had us make the quarter finals of the FA Cup and made the play off places of the Championship and gave Blackpool a fight they won't ever forget.
Im probably in the minority in that opinion though.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being lined up I hear

Mick McCarthy's odds have been slashed, he's now the favourite with quite a few bookies. Really don't think he'd be a good appointment
