The kick was so hard that Tyler flew two feet through the air hitting a door at his home in Sheepwalk, Paston, near Peterborough, rupturing his abdomen and slowly killing him.

Must have been hell of a kick to throw a 5 year old in the air, that evil stepfather should rot behind bars

17 years for murdering a child? which is more outrageous, the crime or the justice??

That's evil. The fact he slowly died makes me feel sick.

Very sad. And horrible.

Child abuse is a terrible thing and the fact the stepfather was abused himself only goes to show the kind of consequences it can have.

I notice though the comments on there aren't entirely dissimilar to those on a particular hate-fuelled, reactionary, national tabloid. Always irks me that does.

Very strong point indeed lostalex, something for really deep thought.

These rotten crimes make me really angry,in my opinion he should be away for the rest of his life for this.

17 years, what a joke. He should have gotten life in prison.

People like this don't deserve jail, they deserve death.

Meh, I see it as an excuse more than a consequence. A lot of people were abused as kids and they dont all grow up to do the same thing. And some people who WERENT abused as kids will go on to abuse kids at some point in their life too.

Exactly. Bad things happen to people, it's how you deal with it and move forward shows what type of person you are and that's not an excuse to abuse someone else.

There is no comment that's ever right on that website. Okay, maybe the odd one. But the rest are just bigoted, patronising and ultimately deluded whiners full of nothing but venom. Foul people.

Of course they don't, that's why I said 'it can have'. Not always, but sometimes. There's definitely a correlation between the two.

For example, if some parents were to bring their children up until the age of 16 with the belief that you must have sex with children when older, and that that is the 'norm' and what happens, and they were kept away from any kind of institution that would tell them otherwise, then how on earth could they possibly think or act any other way once they'd reached the age of 16? If that's the kind of things that were instilled in them, that's how they're going to act. Same thing with a lot of things, i.e. if you're bullied it can affect your self-esteem for a long time, if you're brought up in a violent community/gang there's a high chance that you're going to end up the same.

It's all about socialisation. It's not the case with everyone, but I think often things like this can have long lasting effects on the victims. That doesn't mean it's excusable of course, but it's not just an issue we should sideline and not take into consideration. And if you ask me...in order to kill someone anyway, or indeed attempt to kill someone or just be plain disgustingly violent, then you've got to have some sort of mental health issue. No sane person does that.

Well come on jack... You just quoted a bit of GCSE sociology, you forgot to mention the 'cycle of abuse' though and 'life choices' as in kill people...or don't. As vicky said many abused people do not grow up murderers.

A bit like how your posts are full of complaints about the smallest of things? Ricky Gervais...sailor emoticon...

Bore off with the baiting.

As vicky said many abused people do not grow up murderers.

As I said, many abused people do not grow up murderers. Maybe you just chose not to pick up on that when I clearly stated so.

Or alternatively, perhaps you can't read. Who knows.

You are confusing baiting and debating jack.

Ah, you again chose not to respond to the bit where I also agreed not all abused people grow up murderers.

So yeah, baiting.

Not responding to a point is not baiting jack, bringing up unrelated issues from previous threads is.

But insinuating I believe something which I'd already made clear was not the case (i.e. that not all abused children turn out murderers...what's that now, the fourth time?), and then continuing to ignore multiple occasions in the thread where this has been pointed out to you, is baiting.

Kizzy

Supposition jack. Quit while you're behind. A serious debate thread is no place for your pedantic rants.

I just think we do too much blame shifting tbh. Doesnt matter what happens it always seems to be someone/something elses fault.

Kizzy

I have to agree there, nothing makes me more annoyed than hearing 'It's not my fault' from my son...He won't dare say it now haha.
