Can't believe that Downing has made it after the season he has had :joker:
Hopefully he finds some form in it though
No Holt or Crouch :bored: why the hell is Downing in it as well

Henderson named as a stand by and then you have Carrick who has had a very good season not named at all:bored:.
Not impressed by Downing and Walcott selections. Richards, Crouch and Sturridge should be in that squad, shame that Kyle Walker is injured too.

Richards >>>>>> Johnson
Sturridge/Holt >>>>> Carroll/Defoe
Carrick > Most of those midfielders
Anyone > Downing
Henderson on the stand by list over Carrick
lol pathetic

Best thing is... Parker needs an injection on his achilles injury, so if he fails to respond Henderson is brought in. 50/50 I guess.
I'd rather Henderson went the Olympics though.

Blatently trying to show he's not bitter about Liverpool

Rio has played 38 games this season and you could understand there being some doubts over his fitness, although it is obvious the decision to leave him out is to do with Terry unless Rio has said that he does not want to play with the guy?
Rio form wise had a better season than Terry IMO.

I'm pleased for Oxlade Chamberlain:), bright prospect.

Steven Gerrard named as England captain.
Gerrard captain then, unsurprisingly

is Wilshere injured or something?

Picked up an injury in April.
Gerrard captain, thank god. Thought he might have stuck with that insane decision Pearce made and kept Parker as it.

According to Hodgson, he saw Ox-Chamberlain play well for Arsenal against Andrea Pirlo and Ambrosini v AC Milan. Ambrosini didn't play, Pirlo is at Juventus.

I don't agree with Terry being in, really glad Andy Carroll is.
Very glad Steven Gerrard is Captain too, hopefully though Terry will knuckle down and not try to undermine him as to that.
I don't think the new manager has shown much in the way of inspiration as to choosing his team, rather a damp squib really.
This was a good opportunity to really open up ways of experimenting while having some experience of the old guard too,he has fiddled rather than done anything new and positive.

Gerrard as skipper :worship:
I really want Rooney up front with Gerrard playing behind him,
Something like this would do me
Hart
Jones-Terry-Cahill-Cole
Walcott-Lampard-Parker-Young
Gerrard
------Rooney

is Wilshere injured or something?
Only been injured all season :joker:
Really bad that Danny Simpson isn't even a stand by player though
Locke.
16-05-2012, 06:33 PM
Richards, Walker, Simpson... Good old Roy knows that Johnson is England's #1 right back
Oh yeah forgot about Walker :joker:
At least Rio will be with Becks in the Olympic team now
King Gizzard

Walkers got a toe injury
how gutted you must be to miss a major tournament..with a toe injury
he'd be our first choice if not
Locke.
16-05-2012, 06:37 PM
Walker very lucky to have picked up an injury to spare him a trip round the world just to sit on a bench
Not sure what we'll do first couple of games with Rooney suspended, don't really fancy any of our other attacking options
Locke.

Think we will play 4-5-1, Carroll will start the first two and Rooney will start the rest

Not a great squad at all. How does Downing get in above Etherington or Jarvis? Big club bias, I think.
Roy likes to play 4-4-2 so should be interesting to see how they line up.

Goalkeepers - Green (West Ham), Hart (Man City) Ruddy (Norwich).
Defenders - Baines (Everton), Cahill (Chelsea), Cole (Chelsea), Johnson (Liverpool), Jones (Man Utd), Lescott (Man City), Terry (Chelsea).
Midfielders - Barry (Man City), Downing (Liverpool), Gerrard (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Milner (Man City), Parker (Tottenham), Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Walcott (Arsenal), Young (Man Utd).
Forwards - Carroll (Liverpool), Rooney (Man Utd), Welbeck (Man Utd), Defoe (Tottenham).
-----------
Names in bold should not be in. I am sick and tired of seeing Lampard & Gerrard clogging up our midfield spots too.
lol at Terry being in the squad ahead of Rio, if it was down to "Footballing reasons". Terry really does well with through balls and pace..look at his possibly partners too ffs.
Knew it was going to happen, and I knew Richards won't go. Can't have Saint Terry playing next to a black fella, he might let something slip out in the heat of the moment. Roy is bending over for the 2nd rate Liverpool players nicely.
Johnson will probably shake Terry's hand when he calls him a half black ****.
Ohh well, if winning the Euros fails with the likes of Downing & Carroll I always have the Robben & RVP alternative.

Lampards had a good season, pleased that he is in there, and love him or not, Terry is the best CB we've got
and you should have Defoe bolded

The way Rio gets treated by the national team and F.A is a joke. From a selfish point of view though, I am glad he isn't going. With Vidic unlikely to be back for the start of the season, De Gea being at the Olympics and Jones possibly suffering from exhaustion we will really need him to play the way he has this season.

I think England has chosen the wrong Manager, some real fresh outlook and thinking is what was needed, not only for Euro 2012 but to plan for the next World cup too.
I don't think this guy is the man to bring any real success for England, not on today's showing anyway, despite not even having played any games yet.
