X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle has been dropped by his record label, it has been reported.



Matt, who beat Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction to win the show two years ago, had signed up to Columbia records rather than Simon Cowell’s Syco label.

But they did not renew his contract when it expired earlier this year, following disappointing sales of his debut album.

Matt hit the top spot with his winner’s track, a cover of When We Collide, but didn’t set the charts alight with his follow ups.

His Gary Barlow-penned single Run For Your Life reached number 6, while next single Starlight just scraped into the Top 200 at 185.

According to The People, Matt now hopes “to take his career in a different direction.”

A source added: “Everyone wishes him well.”

He should go back to his band and try to make it with them, I think he'd be better off, he's more of a band type than solo singer imo It's a pity cos I really love his voice, he just needs better songs

Goes to show that having a good voice is not what sells records. I think he's really difficult to like as a person, which shouldn't be a factor but I think it is.
