A woman who killed her housemate after playing "sexual games" has been convicted of culpable homicide.

Eliska Novotna, 23, admitted repeatedly stabbing Arunas Ramanauskas at the Old Farmhouse at Easter Happrew Farm, near Peebles, last October.

After an eight-day trial, a jury took almost two hours to find her guilty of the lesser crime of culpable homicide.

Novotna had told the High Court in Dundee how she tied a dressing gown cord round her housemate's eyes and neck before arming herself with a knife, walking topless into his room and stabbing him six times.

She later told a police officer that they "played sexual games - then I killed him".

The court also heard how a number of sex toys had been found in a bedside cabinet in Mr Ramanauskas's room.

Novotna had been charged with murdering the 39-year-old Lithuanian on 7 or 8 October last year.

However, she denied the offence, claiming she had acted in self-defence because she feared being sexually assaulted.

A jury convicted her of culpable homicide on a majority verdict.

Jim Keegan QC, defending, said he would reserve his plea in mitigation until a later sentencing date.

Lady Clark of Calton deferred sentence on Novotna until 19 June at the High Court in Edinburgh.

She said: "I would express the sympathy of the court to the relatives of the victim - this has no doubt been a very difficult time for you."

Novotna now faces a lengthy jail term when she is sentenced next month.

What a cold-hearted b***h .....

A woman who stabbed her housemate to death after "sex games" went wrong has been jailed for nine years.

Eliska Novotna, 23, was topless when she tied up Arunas Ramanauskas with the cord of a dressing gown and blindfolded him before stabbing him six times.

She had admitted stabbing him at the farmhouse near Peebles in October last year but claimed it was self-defence.

She was charged with murder but a jury found her guilty of a reduced charge of culpable homicide.

May she rot ..... :hmph:

If he was tied up and blindfolded, how on earth is it self-defence? :conf: Surely he wouldn't have trusted her to tie him up in the first place if he intended harming her.
