As social mobility is all over the news today do you wonder how poor your area is?...

A list collated by the Church Urban Fund (CUF) shows liverpool to be the worst affected area for poverty in Britain.

Liverpool features heavily in the list, with five areas making the top ten, including Toxteth West, which has up to 64% of children and 63% of pensioners living in poverty.

Check your area to see how many in your community are living in poverty...

In my local area 30% of children and 23% of pensioners are living in poverty, 36% of all working age adults have no qualifications.

My city's definitely quite bad overall, although the South of the city's quite good, bar Garston and Netherly. I like Toxteth, though. Very multicultural and sound, although it's obviously rough. The worst areas have to be Huyton, Norris Green, Tuebrook, Anfield, Kensington and Walton. The better areas are the whole Childwall, Woolton parts. The schools aren't great, either. There are about 4 'good' schools in the city. The rest are rough. :joker: I went to a rough school (which I liked - I always pissed about in lessons). Probably hasn't changed.

Where I live (not saying) :

This parish ranks 24 out of 226 parishes in the diocese. This means that this parish is among the wealthiest in the diocese.

This parish ranks 1949 out of 12706 parishes in England. That means that the parish is among the wealthiest nationally.

Nearest town (Blackpool) :

This parish ranks 200 out of 226 parishes in the diocese. This means that this parish is among the most deprived in the diocese.

This parish ranks 12193 out of 12706 parishes in England. That means that the parish is among the most deprived nationally.

Where I was born (Coventry) :

This parish ranks 199 out of 201 parishes in the diocese. This means that this parish is among the most deprived in the diocese

On the overall deprivation scale, where 1 is the least deprived in the country, this parish ranks 12399 out of 12706 parishes in England. That means that the parish is among the most deprived nationally.

What a contrast ..... and how things change - Blackpool and Coventry used to be "boom" towns ..... :idc:

Just thinking of Toxteth west now. Is that Lodge Lane or Granby/Princess Park? Always get confused.

I don't have a clue, just type in your postcode and it will tell you?

I am probably the most shocked about blackpool, I would have thought the amount of revenue that small town generated on the seafront (rents on shops and council tax on B&Bs) would give the council plenty of funds for regeneration?
