Brian: Older Housemates And Couples!

Brian Dowling has revealed that Big Brother 2012 may feature couples as housemates.


The BB host spoke to us earlier this month about the upcoming series, and gossiped on plans about the housemates.

As well as confirming they had all been chosen three weeks ago, Brian revealed: “The housemates will be varied in age, this year for sure they’re mixing up the age groups.

“I heard something about maybe couples going in, but people don’t know they’re couples… I’m not sure how that works!

“That would be amazing, and they had to pretend they weren’t couples, and had to get off with other people!”

But Brian also admitted that he didn’t want the series to get too rude and too focused on sex.

He said: “I don’t like it when it gets too rude, when Denise [Welch] was in the jacuzzi with her tits out, I thought that was funny, I didn’t think that was rude.

“But I don’t like it when, like Jay and Louise had that sex den. I don’t like it if it gets too rude.”

It was as bad once they put Rex's girlfriend in too,later in the series. It is bad enough when housemates become couples like Ziggy and the Woman he got with.

BB9 was the only odd numbered series to suffer a ratings drop. BB10 fared even worse.

Those are the 2 series that had pre-existing couple in them (though BB10's other halves were gone within days of their partners being evicted, which shows how pointless the whole thing can be).

I'm against all relations in the house - whether it's just friends, siblings, twins, couples or anything. The whole point of Big Brother is a group of strangers. Many of them being people who wouldn't necessarily meet each other on the outside.

Yay on the varied age ranges cos I think having only HMs under 30 was one of the things that cheapened BB12.

Sick to death of couples and housemates that already know each other though. It ruins what BB was originally about - just a group of strangers

Anyone with any connection to another housemate shouldn't be allowed; whether friends outside/siblings/spouse/partners..... it's meant to be a bunch of strangers living together - bringing in double acts is a complete waste.

Hate the family member/friends/partner/pets twist. Very few have been great housemates, but most have been awful. They have the same obsession now with this crap twist as they do having the diary room in the same area every series these days.:sleep::sleep::sleep:

Older housemates can be BB legends like "Dark Destroyer" aka "Derek" BB6 who was about 40ish. To be fair they've never put that many in over 40 years old over the twelve series. There have been many alarmingly mind numbingly boring housemates under 30 so more older housemates gets my vote.

Yes you could potentially get another Steve BB11, but you could also always potentially get another Louise BB12, Maysoon BB9, George BB7, Laura BB11, Kara Louise BB8, Sunita BB3, Imogen BB7, Ge:sleep:rgia CBB9 etc.:sleep:

I'd like to see about four 40+ two male and two female, but not a couple and not related. On top of this about another four aged 30 something and again two male and two female. So make it 16 housemates on launch night, eight over 30 and eight under 30.

Luckily, the repellent Mario was evicted on Day 37 with 77% of the vote - beaten by the awful Bex ..... Lisa hung on until Day 86 and seemed to enjoy her "solitude" ..... ;)

If they have to have a couple, I'd much prefer giving them a secret task meaning they must keep their prior relationship a secret or be immediately evicted (for the whole series not just one week). Obviously, that wont happen though, and we'll probably get Mario/Lisa ptII.
