Goldfrapp are an English electronic music duo, formed in 1999 in London, consisting of Alison Goldfrapp (vocals/synthesizer, pictured above) and Will Gregory (synthesizer).

Despite favourable reviews and a short-listing for the Mercury Prize, the ambient sound of their 2000 debut album Felt Mountain did not chart highly. Goldfrapp's second album Black Cherry, which incorporated glam rock and synthpop sounds into their music, was released in 2003. The album influenced the same dance-oriented sound of their third album Supernature. Supernature took Goldfrapp's work further into dance music, and enjoyed international chart success. Supernature produced three number-one US dance singles, and was nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 49th Grammy Awards. Their fourth album Seventh Tree placed a greater emphasis on ambient and downtempo music, drawing inspiration from nature and Paganism, while their fifth album, Head First, found the group exploring 1980s-influenced synthpop, and brought the formation a Grammy Award-nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2010.

Utopia, Lovely Head, Strict Machine, Twist, Clowns, Happiness, and Oh La La are my favourites (atm). :worship:

Head First received mostly positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 68, based on 22 reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews".

I hope they haven't split up :( there were a lot of rumours given the nature of YH's music video (ending with the fans and the "you've been amazing" stuff)... but if there's a 6th album then :amazed:

So Alison tweeted this today:

July 17th + 18th we'll be playing the new album live with the RNCM string orchestra at MIF13......

And tickets are apparently going on sale at 10am tomorrow.

I know this isn't big news, but it means there's definitely going to be a single in in the next three or four months and I'm ****ing ecstatic for it. :amazed:

I've just found out that Clay is actually based on this (http://www.lettersofnote.com/2013/02/sleep-well-my-love.html) letter. If you listen to the lyrics, it backs it up because they do correspond with certain passages from the letter. It's kinda sad and lovely at the same time.

Alison did say that all the songs are based around a person, hence all the song titles being actual names.
