Watch Dogs pre-orders have reportedly been cancelled in Italy, leading to speculation that the game will not launch on Nintendo's console.

A Gamestop customer in Italy was told to change his Wii U Watch Dogs pre-order because the game had been cancelled by Ubisoft, according to Italian website Wiitalia (via CVG).

A number of fellow Gamestop stores seemingly confirmed the news when contacted by the website.

Ubisoft is yet to make an official statement concerning the rumour.

Originally planned for a 2013 release, Watch Dogs was delayed until 2014 across all platforms.

Ubisoft executive Laurent Detoc recently described it as a "very intense decision", but stressed that the choice was made in the best interests of the game.

Watch Dogs is now scheduled to arrive in the second quarter of 2014 for multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Edit: Actually, it'd be right to assume the first reveal was never the real game. PC version probably won't look as good as that.

Infamous showed the PS4's true power, and its still only a early game in this generation. Hell, even look at Metal Gear, 1080p and 60fps, and thats gonna be a much bigger and probably more in depth world.

Ryse does look the best, but Infamous kinda edges ahead due to it being open world, it looks very nice for an open world game.

I can see Watch_Dogs being another Ubisoft open world game, with similar systems to Assassin's Creed and Far Cry.

Lazy from Ubisoft as always. PC version will still no doubt have higher frame rate and resolution, though.

It really doesn't cost anywhere near that to run this or any other game on ultra. You can get a better graphics card than what runs in the PS4 and Xbox one now for about £200. The graphic capabilities of the consoles is already obsolete. In 5 years time, they will be completely irrelevant.

I doubt it, we're hardly seeing the consoles being pushed yet, we're 8 months into this generation.

If there's anything Watch_Dogs reminded me, games dont always have to be 1080p 60fps to look beautiful, don't get me wrong, that stuff is nice, but Watch_Dogs is one nice looking game, because of the detail.

I've had a gaming PC for about 2 years now, never had a single issue. Cost me £500 and I was able to play every single game I threw at it on medium settings, which are at least on a par with any console out there. Recently spent £120 on a new graphics card and it blows consoles out of the water. Just don't see the sense in throwing away £500 every few years, when you could invest that money on upgrading the components of a PC every 5 years and you'd have a monster before you knew it.

I've had dozens of PCs and they've always ended up breaking down, and I am just not computer literate, I don't know the difference between all the components, so I'd have to take it to a PC repair shop and probably end up being charged around £300 to simply replace something that'd cost £40.

I do use my laptop to play a few PC games, the only PC games I can't really run are ones that are on console anyway, so I have the best of both worlds. Consoles also have exclusives like Metal Gear Soild and Final Fantasy, which are like two of my favourite franchises.

Just started playing this. I knew the general outline of the game was very similar to Person of Interest but I didn't realize they stole/borrowed the entire graphics preface from them as well.. Must have paid them or surely they'd have been sued by now.
