View Full Version : This is how I see Big Brother now...

I was writing this as a reply to Jordan's post in another thread - but decided it was such a good comparison, it deserved it's own thread. :hmph:

In regards to why we (the massive fans) stay with this show even though we're watching it be destroyed upon our very eyes and do nothing but complain, here is how I see it:

I guess it's like - when you have a child and you love it when he's young, and then he becomes a teenager - hit's 13, starts being abit cocksure of himself, dirty and cheeky - and you want to slap him and turn your back on him.
But you still have the good memories of when he was 5..6 or 7.
And for that reason, because you got so close to it all your life - you feel a sense of loyalty and can't just stop with it and be done.

..But then again, there's only so much pushing they can do before eventually you do just throw them out on the street..or turn off.

This is why I have left the series (I'll watch an episode or 2 though). Everything is simply too sh!t for me to handle, man. :(

Patrick I thought you were ok and in a way all for the dumbass (IMO) editing??

I love it

I really am at the point of just not giving a sh*t. I don't think I ever actually will turn off, because Big Brother is Big Brother (even if they are just using the name for some reality soap they've created), but no way is my heart still in the show as it used to be, and it won't ever be until you know what is brought back. It's not even possible for it to be for most fans I think.

They are completely destroying this wonderful format and for the first time I'm beginning to question whether signing a deal with C5 was a good idea or not.

Come back C4...all is forgiven.

I'm the type of person who would rather it died with some dignity and integrity.

As protest to C5 I may skip all cbb's from now on.

It's not what it used to be. But I'll always stick by it no matter what.

I was shocked last night - I wasn't excited at all. I literally might as well have been waiting for the latest episode of eastenders to come on, I really didn't seem to care at all. To be honest it's probably because I don't even like the show all that much now. It's changed too much since its move to Channel 5. All that being said, however, even if I end up hating it i'm still going to watch it just because it's Big Brother. I've stuck by it for way too long now to simply stop watching. I'll be here until it's cancelled again.

Plus I have a really annoying friend who hates Big Brother and i've spent years telling him it's amazing and he is wrong. If I were to give up on it now and admit to him I don't watch it anymore he'd never shut up about how he was right all along.

Personally, I've enjoyed it so far.

Die-hard fans of anything are always going to me the most resistant to change. It's like that with anything, not just tv shows, but movie series, music performers, etc.

You fell in love with this show in the old format and state it was, not this current one, so it's understandable why you are having a hard time with it.

I fell in love with the old format too - but I haven't been watching the show for 10-13 years like others have. I didn't "officially" start watching until 2009, so it's been easier for me to accept change.

I might too. Probably will, especially since I won't know 99% of the people.

And when you're saying when eventually this child grows up we've got to let it go?

Patrick I thought you were ok and in a way all for the dumbass (IMO) editing??

I was in CBB8 - bit of harmless fun, didn't get the hate over nametags etc
But it's just all too much now, it's too excessive, it's not even the editing it's just their general management of the show and ignorance towards the fans is a disgrace.

As protest to C5 I may skip all cbb's from now on.

I decided I'm going to do that too. But at the end of the day, what difference will it make dude?

So a few of us switch off after BB13 - don't tune in again until BB14.
We just know the ratings for BB13 will be about 1.2 Million on average, then towards the last few weeks - Channel 5 advertise CBB10 all around the country.. it comes along in August and completely beats Big Brother in the ratings.

And Ch5HD

That's something I'm not so sure of anymore. I'd rather it died with its last hurrah on C4.

We're okay just now. Just wait until they plonk the name-tags centre screen and use cheap text. Also, "Call My Name" by Cheryl playing whilst they enter and double speed, and using sepia effects when looking back to "5 minutes ago".

There is nothing wrong with nametags Jesus Christ. :bored:

Of all the problems we have - that is the least important. Especially because of how many housemates there are atm and it all seems overwhelming and we have no live feed.. the name tags are excellent.

This analogy is excellent Patrick. 7 and 9 were really the golden years of Big Brother's childhood. See, taking this analogy to a further degree, I'd say we lost our mother to some extremely camp dude - it just doesn't fit. I will always be loyal to BB though, but nothing can beat the great years of BB7 and BB9 with the amazing Glyn and Rachel :(
